The article states on #3 "two blades appeared in a position between low pitch and feather", that's where they're supposed to be, the other blade position near feather would mean some sort of material failure.

There was a period of time in the 80s where you were paid the full per diem no matter what you spent. One example I remember was New Orleans, 87ish I think. Per Diem was $75 a day. Stayed at the west bank sheraton and with the military discount and sharing a room it was $12 a night. Big bucks for a SSgt back then.

Funny story that wasn't funny at the time. We were flying the mighty whistlin shithouse (AC-130H) out of Guam practicing for the Iran hostage rescue. Our live fire range was basically a big rock sticking up out of the water somewhere near Guam. We were shooting our regular 20mm HEI rounds down at 2500ft. Bomb dump says they have a "shitload" of tracers they need to get rid of and ask if we can shoot it. We said sure, link it up, a mixture of tracer and HEI. So we are over this rock at 2500ft and the pilot lets loose with the first burst of the tweak, immediately followed by "CEASE FIRE, CEASE FIRE!!!!. Tracers were ricocheting back toward the airplane, some of them went past us.

Trying to start one at Cannon. I guess we'll see how it goes.

I didn't read the article, just remember the picture. Happens more often than you think. The 141 could hold about 155,000 pounds of fuel, wish I could remember more important shit than that.

If I remember right, that was a fuel tank vent that was left capped.
