Isn't that what about every MOH recipient ever said? Not saying they're equal, but just because you guys are just doing your job doesn't mean it shouldn't be recognized when it's a job well done. -
I have no beef with the RPA operators earning a medal. I don't think it should be of greater "value" than an Air Medal or a Bronze Star, but they should be recognized for the contributions they're making to the war effort. It's definitely more than many other platforms out there.

It's actually not that uncommon. I did it this way and so did about 10 others in my class.

This was probably addressed earlier, but if you go through PIT you can get a CFI equivalency, right? What about going through IPUG?

Stract, Possible stupid question, but what's the deal with the full face mask deal the helo pilots/crew are wearing? Just to reduce wind noise or to look cool or both?

I would recommend posting in the "Pilot Selection Process" or "Road to Wings" forums for better answers/less spears. Also, check out www.airforceots.com and they will help you out.

I would take this time to just enjoy your freedom before you get on the train that is the AF. Don't let the "sky is falling" tone of this place make you think you have to rush to hurry to knock out a few credits now. It may be wise or prudent or whatever, but just have some fun FFS. You can get that crap a few years down the road. You won't get that time to hang out with your friends and family back.

You will be issued one and will have (probably) have to show some basic proficiency with it during UPT when making a fuel log and calculating turn points. Don't buy one unless you really want to.
