  1. Just...no. Make more rounds and put a lot of them in a big bomber. Many big bombers. I hope we’re not wasting a damn dollar on making QF-16s into actual lawn darts.
  2. Some retirees care because they’re orienting around a stake they drove at the height of their glory days. Others keep driving new stakes.
  3. I can confirm that a DC-10 is unable to fly 100kts. If a DC-10 can be used as a firefighter, the C-17 would be more than suited. For the similar MGW aircraft, look at the difference in the wing chord and angle of incidence. The C-17 is at like 20° AOA sitting still.
  4. Humble speculation with the bros in real time is normal and fine. It’s inadvisable to type out that speculation on the internet, especially if the event is related to a real-world mission.
  5. There are some significantly different jury rules that apply to military members. Only 2/3 majority is required (unless it’s for a death sentence), and it’s extremely unlikely that you’ll have a jury of peers on a base where you know all of your peers personally. Civilian defendants have a much better chance than military ones.
  6. Shit, he picked the throwaway COA.
  7. Vietnam was the US being in country during a civil war where the locals were 70/30 on the other side from the start. Let them sort the internal shit out, I would only recommend attacking Iran’s capabilities to wage war outside their borders.
  8. You know, war doesn’t have to mean regime change. Destroying all their shit, making them look inept to their own people, and walking away could effect a lot of internal change.
  9. There’s also a little blurb in there that the Air Force has to pay $55m to fix Boeing’s boom latching problem because the contract was poorly written. Oh well, just write another check! edit: also at least 4 years until IOC. This is fucked up beyond belief.
  10. Ah, there it is. I feel like we just got to the “that’s it!” point in a naming. Deadbolts and magnetic signs.
  11. I’ve definitely seen it on deployments as well. Room full of fat base ops airmen distracted by morale drive movies that would only help us when directly and loudly engaged. Compare that with the Marines manning Kadena base ops that snapped to attention and almost seemed embarrassed that they didn’t have enough to do. There are two different Air Force cultures; we have too many of one and not enough of the other.
  12. Lol, ok that makes sense why the Weapons School turned a broom closet into.a breast feeding room.
  13. Really the best practice here is to get into a public emotional shouting match with said MSgt. Ask the bystanders for real time feedback on who’s winning.
  14. “Here, we got your jewelry back. Only had to kill the robbers and two bystanders to do it!”
  15. All a very interesting debate. Answers should only come from realistic problems. What’s the likelihood that a particular system or procedure will fail you in a current war? What’s the likelihood in a future war? If said system fails (or is denied), will it raise your risk a notch during certain phases? Maybe that’s acceptable and not worth the training costs to mitigate it. However, if a targeted attack on your Achilles Heel isn’t likely but would result in a F-Kill for your entire MWS, then it’s probably still worth it to train to it.
  16. I didn’t apply for school, but if I did it would’ve been to one of those foreign ACSC deals as a backup to what I primarily want to do. I would’ve appreciated the ability to say “no thanks.”
  17. Referring to the dudes that are actively trying to rework your syllabus as “Bobs” is a little disparaging.
  18. Dude, don’t give that guy’s opinion an ounce of credibility.
  19. If I ever have to be the IO that writes a 150 page report on why some BGen extended her TDYs by a day to attend retirement ceremonies costing the Gov a whopping $690 per occurrence, I’m doing whatever I can to eject from the AF. The amount of effort that went into that exhaustive investigation boggles my mind. There are so many real tactical problems out there to be solved, and so many $billions wasted on bad acquisitions, and some poor guy devotes all his waking hours to this.
  20. Well that’s a surprising outcome from a “tribunal”.
