I live in the greater LA area, and one thing I’ll give the Tesla brand credit for is how much it has eaten into the Prius numbers on the road and put people in a vehicle that can get up and go if need be. Not everyone is doing it for the virtue-signaling experience, and lots of people in LA have lengthy commutes (fortunately I don’t) so with high gas taxes in CA people are looking for an edge and use EVs and hybrids for that. For so long, the Prius was dominant (still is to a degree) and not having driven one I don’t know what’s at play in the vehicle but holy fuck do they excel at being in the way, slowing/jamming traffic, can’t or don’t accelerate for shit etc. Tesla seems to have put those people in a much more capable vehicle. I still think anyone who buys a Cybertruck is a complete clown tho.
