  1. There I was just watching the game and.... Seriously though, it doesn't answer the real question in the first place. Why did he overthrow the ball?
  2. What I don't understand is why the AF doesn't eliminate more "middle-leader manager" jobs and replace with comparable technology with great (not underfunded) management information systems or executive information systems? There is administrative crap the FGO corps do that could be automated. I understand there are supposed to be systems out there to meet this requirement; but it appears they're underfunded, misused, and/or misunderstood from my Wing level and below vantage point. Big Blue has overlapping systems processing the same information. For example, why do squadrons use PEX, GDSS 2, and ARMS to process flying beans and generate reports? That's dumb. (Just a small impact level example btw) Why can't Big Blue actually use computer information systems to generate the reports they need or automate processes which are already defined by AFI? It's not like our middle managers change the way we do things by AFI, save running waivers? Would not getting our information systems feces together help reduce staff requirements and get more bodies in cockpits? - Great, we can admin opponents and ourselves to death, Swizz
  3. No way, that'd require Base Environmental Health office to clean up...there has go to be a checklist for that....
  4. When Ramstein transitioned from C-130E to C-130J all of the Flight Engineers and Navigators hit the four winds PCS'ing. There were no positions at Ramstein for Navs anymore. Everyone scrambled for a good assignment. None of over 20 Navs went fighter/bombers, several went to AFSOC (FCOs mostly), 7 were picked up for pilot training (3 are back in our squadron as C-130J pilots), and the remainder went to stateside slicks. Morale of the story = even in a nav-a-palooza PCS in a single month no one, not even our best Nav transitioned to WSO or strike-Nav or whatever it's called now... edit: ######1ng Nav!
  5. I have a CF-29 laptop screen NVG filter that I'm customizing to fit my iPad. Right now it's too long and wide (ha!) and needs to be reshaped to match iPad screen. It does allow touch screen capability still.
  6. You called it with the price AMC is paying for iPad 2's. Oh BTW - there are draft AFIs covering iPad usage in the works....we'll see how this works out. The Beta version 3 is being released soon, will have better program control options (like dimming, swipe b/t IAPs, etc). Slowly but surely.... My C-130 iPad holder, Version 2.0, will be available in a month-ish. Prices, pictures, etc to follow... It'll be compatible with all C-130E/H/J approach bracket nubs already in the cockpit. All you'd need is the holder; It'll support iPad/iPad 2/iPad 3.
  7. Yeesh, political ammo (or arrow roulette) to entice hasty withdraw upon terms not "chosen" by us? Or troops are getting bored and doing dumb $h1t to pass the time...
  8. The Chinese put together a counter-force to oppose The Great 69-ship... {linked at 5:13}
  9. Thread revival... Anyone been to C-130J IP school lately? What's the scoop? Any insight would be appreciated. So far heard it's all in the simulator and the JMATS guys run most profiles until checkride, which is in the sim too .
  10. Wrong, inaction is bad choice. There exists a better choices for the non-supporters. Just as voting is a choice made heard or active participation....those who don't vote for a candidate can make heard their "nay-votes" heard by speaking out against the candidate or funding the opposition. Sitting back and just not voting for the person isn't a good solution....action, not inaction is necessary from both sides. edit: grammar
  11. This will catch like an Arizone wildfire, RPA operators heads up! Someone will probably get an AFSO 21 bullet too...it's all about timing and climate, a fiscally limited climate.
  12. About time...common sense prevails. A couple of years ago I heard a missilier say he was getting a checkride. After barfing and I gathered composure and asked him what the hell he was talking about, wasn't impressed with his answer.
  13. Yes, I've used pre-paid sim cards from several countries on my unlocked iPhone 3GS. I didn't use data service, but not carrying around two phones while TDY (mostly OST) and having a phone w/ WiFi was great.
  14. Grind, too soon.... jk, who can't laugh at themselves.

  17. SCRA doesn't cover it if you know you're leaving sooner than you tell them. If you literally don't know (ie orders aren't published yet) then you could get away with it. But the landlord could have a legal case against you if they ask for orders and the publish date is before you signed the lease. Just ask for shorter lease, most every place will cooperate for military. If not, Tough Nut or Enclave (if it's foundations are holding) do 6 month leases.
  18. I'm waiting on a W-2c for 2010 and Oct 2010 CZTE to be added...g'luck w/ your case...
  19. Pretty sure they mentioned a standard login time for the e-SOS and still reading all of the assigned readings....
