WTF Happened To Helmet Art?
Why would you ask for permission instead of forgiveness?

O-4/O-5 career path
So the solution to the manning situation is to prohibit dudes who want to from staying in the cockpit? Genius! We’ll have this thing fixed in no time at all! 🤬

VA disability that doesn’t affect FAA/ civilian flying
Any truth to the NVG 10% rumor?

Promotion and PRF Information
Years ago we were told to get a Masters. Then we were told we didn’t need one. Then we did again. Now we need one for O-6. Standing by for next pendulum swing. ACSC is no different. And if you think senior raters are really following CSAF guidance when they decide what they value in a person going up for promotion, I challenge you to look at how many things were made optional that they still insist on doing month after month.

Tactical victory at a strategic loss. Is it truly without worth if it increases your pay? Going from a 14+ O-4 to a 16+ O-5 is netting me over $1,100/month more because not failing to complete a “worthless course” didn’t make a bunch on non-ops O-6s (the majority of your board make-up) look at me as lazy or unpromotable. Good for you for going full Kaepernick and having a belief. But don’t be surprised if it nets the same result from the corporation.

Big wing ISR, C2 recapitalization
I love DoD wants to create a system of network-based solutions, yet struggles to maintain any semblance of network security on multiple domains. Does this stuff not make your skin crawl even a little?

Trying to maximize leave close to retirement/terminal
In the infinite wisdom of our system, TAPS is expanding to beyond a year, but our service makes you wait until inside a year to apply for retirement. Yet another example of the left hand not talking to the right. Can’t imagine why people want to leave this organization. Need some help for an Exception to Policy, anyone in AETC or knows someone?
Are you going to an ejection seat aircraft? If so, I expect a waiver to be extremely difficult. This may be in their calculus for UPT, as well, since the T-6 has a seat. I’d expect to address that in your package.

2 Piece Flight Suits
My money is a “B-something”. If you can get up and move around the aircraft, I’m going to speculate a higher chance you can wear a 2-piece bag.

If only a member of Congress read a forum like this...

What is next for the UPT-Next graduates?
Does EVERYONE need to focus on the future conflict, or can we rotate units through prep routinely while the other guys focus on today’s fight? Isn’t this why the Flags were developed? AEF has been (in practicality) dead for some time. But maybe we can actually let dudes focus on a particular near-term way ahead as opposed to everyone preparing for Folda Gap 2.0 while also preparing for the ‘Stan. If everything is important, nothing is important.

Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP - The Bonus)
You know, a buddy of mine and I were just discussing the impending doctor shortage which threatens to cripple America’s combat capability in the next 5-7 years...🙄

Trends in Air to Air Combat
The countdown begins... Remember, nothing sucks worse than being shot with your own gun. All in jest. I do hope the organization who allowed the Chinese to take my personal information no less than 5 times figures out how to keep these things from flipping blue to red.

Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP - The Bonus)
Recommendation pushes $100K/year for the cap Vice the current $35K. Not that it matters. This is the same organization that won’t allow renegotiated amounts but will gladly let you add three years at the current joke of an amount; no way they offer the max if it does go up.

New Fitness Rules
Not sure this invalidates his argument. Are you really measuring VO2 max with anaerobic events (like max piss-poor reps in a minute)? And he’s right: the age bands are ridiculous. A 39 year-old is leaps and bounds different than a 30 year-old. Can’t even imagine what the poor 49 year-old bastards go through.

Airshow Gouge
Every airshow I’ve ever done we sold damn near anything we brought with us and had to watch to make sure no one tried to walk off with “souvenirs” from the airplane. One dude literally tried to take one of the fire extinguishers and thought we wouldn’t notice. Zaps and T-shirts did well. So did fleeces and sweatshirts. Patches are always popular but you can get in iffy territory if they aren’t bought by the booster club. Coozies are also usually popular.

Divorce
Have your lawyer draft the agreement for her taking sole possession of the home and refinancing under sole ownership in a set amount of time in the decree. Did this with my ex and made it nice and clean and protects you in court should she fail to do so or pay.

The Congressman is back yo
So putting aside the border politics, this article highlights over $1B in available bonus and incentive money sitting on the budget floor, yet the decision to limit pilot bonuses to $35K and not renegotiate for higher dollar amounts remains DoD status quo. It sucks, brother. Been there. Solid advice from the bros above. I had help from a good number of great dudes (many here on this forum). Stay healthy. Relax your mind. Avoid assigning blame or wasting time trying to make her act rationally (you can’t want it more than the other person). People change and there’s nothing you can do about it. Be yourself and keep the job in the crosscheck. And most importantly: be the best dad you can possibly be. Mine turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I moved on to a much different relationship and didn’t know what I’d been missing. Any time you need help with anything, don’t be afraid to reach out. You aren’t the only person to ever go through it. Good luck.

What's wrong with the Air Force?
Isn’t this why we have WIC? So commanders can do command shit and have an expert like this on staff to integrate/deconflict effects?

Personal credit card on the road?
Local voucher is a decent fix. When they cancelled the orders in DTS, it should have had a message where it says something about fees paid, etc that the cancelling party likely blew past without reading where it could have been fixed in seconds. Sometimes we’re too efficient for ourselves...

What the hell are you talking about? Not quite to Stockholm Syndrome yet, but your data points are entirely misinformed. After 7 months in the Kabubble, I haven't once had an "Enshallah" moment" from a student I've flown with. There have been a few "Hey, that runway looks a lot like a taxiway, don't you think?" moments, but no one here is holding a gun to anyone's head to prevent any nefarious activity. The ARC dudes coming here are flying and enjoying life. Most volunteer; haven't heard many stories of anyone having to be coerced to do it. Extending an ARC dude takes a Presidential Decree, it seems. When they volunteer to stay longer (and many of them do), they're told "no" by the powers-that-be. Force protection is an important element of what we do, but there is very little concern about 99.9% of the dudes we fly with. These guys are typically targeted more than Americans by extremists and still come to work to fight the good fight. And they're constantly under a microscope. You do have an AD commander, who is on a 365 and allows free reign of expertise across the MDSs. And no one is doing room inspections. So there is that.

What's wrong with the Air Force?
Almost as good as the article shitting on a piano burning, because God forbid anyone be memorialized in a traditional fashion...
