  1. Standing in ground zero at VN, that is absolutely not happening.
  2. The China Virus thread is leaking over..
  3. I have the memo signed by him somewhere in my Outlook that dictated minimum diversity numbers for each class that forced the registrar and myself to re-flow every class to meet the new standard. Ironically all of the classes at the end of that FY were all white males because we didn't have anyone else left.
  4. It's a long story that I won't get into on a forum, but most of it was based on family issues/needs. "Want" vs. "need" to do 20 years in the AF is where I am at now, and yes things have changed quite a bit recently that would have set us up better for life outside of active duty. I'm probably not offering much clarification and being too vague, sorry if that doesn't help.
  5. I took continuation last year, if you are a pilot you will be offered it no question. As previously said, you will be given a non-continuation letter and another form to sign that you either accept or deny continuation. One change that began last year that was different from previous years is that Big Blue is only offering it up to 20 years. Previously you had the option of 20 or 24, and perhaps this year it was reverted given how consistent AFPC is with these types of things. My non-selection counseling was on the phone with an 0-5 who basically told me what I already knew. My records were great, but I didn't check a certain PME box. This may have been done purposely to provide some stability for family needs, regardless of whatever pay or leadership opportunities that were forfeited. Most likely it will be the standard "get good strats, lots of awards, a staff assignment would help, blah blah blah". One thing to note, if you do decide to take continuation you are NOT locked in for 20 years, it's not an ADSC. But, if you take it, any outstanding ADSCs still apply (like a bonus commitment). Fingers crossed for TERA! (/s)
  6. Found out through the public release I joined the twice passed over club. Leadership here absolutely blows.
  7. They will go through the full 2.5 T-6 syllabus and the full PIT syllabus, plus a TBD version of TI once they are in the unit before flying with a student. So I agree that skill wise they may have a leg up on the FAIP.
  8. The chair is against the wall.. the chair is against the wall. John has a long mustache.. John has a long mustache.
  9. My understanding is you are not responsible to pay back any un-earned bonus payments in this situation. I would call the AvB office though and give them your specific situation and they will be able to advise you with the most current guidance.
  10. Was this done before ASU started running the program? I ask because with the way they run the proctored classes now it would be very difficult to get it done in 4 months, if even possible, due to how the pre-reqs for the follow on classes is structured currently.
  11. I took your advice and gave them a call this morning (DSN for the AvB office is on MyPers if anyone was wondering). Apparently the reg is severely out of date. BL, twice passed over and Palace Chase are no longer under the recoupment rules. Even more leniency for med DQ.
  12. Per AFMAN 36-3004, under the recouped payments paragraph.. 3.5.3.4. Voluntary or involuntary separation due to promotion non-selection whether or not the member was offered continuation. There are also a lot of caveats regarding med DQ, so keeping the bonus isn't always guaranteed in those situations. Been doing a lot of homework on this since I'm about to get 2x passed over.
  13. 5 year look is not in play, and probably won't be for quite a while until DOPMA is changed.
  14. From everything I've seen, you will be one helluva squadron commander..
  15. @ClearedHot Thanks for the updates, our major networks are severely lagging with info.
  16. Does that even get published publicly somewhere the masses have access to?
  17. I was pushing 29 when I started.. don't suck and you will be fine.
  18. That current number is heavily influenced by a higher than normal DOR rate.. so take it with a grain of salt that the syllabus is flushing out weak swimmers. As far as why they DOR rate is higher, that discussion probably belongs in the "What's Wrong.." thread.
  19. Concept is indeed the same.. so is it valid or not?
  20. Most recent iteration of the syllabus has 42.8 hrs programmed in the jet.
  21. Simple, one high ranking bob gets to tell another high ranking bob that we are making pilots 4 months faster! Problem solved. And we all know the staff doesn't think about problems 10 years from now, let alone next week.
  22. A certain 2 Star came to a small base in Oklahoma to deliver the message in person.
