  1. Interesting article where Broadwell may have spilt the beans on Benghazi a couple of weeks ago. More interesting, to me anyway, after she speaks about Benghazi she is asked about women's rights and sexual assault issues in the military. She claims she is an advocate for more opportunity for women. Can't help but think she uses the power of the poon to get what she wants. (Fast forward to about 34:40 in the video)
  2. Looks like the AF is asking for some people to return to active duty. Crazy! http://www.minot.af....sp?id=123314216
  3. I'm in RE 2 right now. Content and formatting matter, the weekly page quota is the least important as long as you show progression. If you give 2 good reviews to your peers every week and move forward on your paper you will do fine. The total page count is 25 +-5 (20 is my goal). I've gotten between a 90 and 94 through week 5 and have yet to write 5 pages a week. It may be hit or miss depending in the instructors expectations, but as long as you have a researchable topic and can make a few good points per week to your peers you'll be fine.
  4. It's not about which one is better than the other it's about which one do you qualify for. The Leadership Concentration is for Capt's w/SOS complete and no masters. The Joint Warfare option is for Maj, Maj (S)'s that either need to complete a masters and IDE or are "topping off" the Leadership concentration in order to complete IDE. Finally, the Operational Warfare Option is for WIC grads who recieve credit for their time at the WIC schoolhouse through this program. The application process was pretty easy, the website walks you through it. It seemed like they simply double check your eligibility and then you're in. Hope this helps.
  5. I'm a little over half way done with this program as a Capt and recommend it to everyone who asks about it. I stiff armed the whole masters bit as long as possible and got talked into this program from my SOS flt/CC. It is pretty easy and requires minimal effort. The terms are 8 weeks long, 6 of them are typically threaded discussions with a mid-term paper (generally ~1000 words) and a final (about the same length). You can take multiple classes (up to 3 I think) in the same term. The most I have done was 2 in the same term, that took more effort than I wanted to give but I made it through. The Captains program is 11 total classes, it shares 7 classes with the ACSC program. Once you get your line number to Maj you can take the other 4 classes and complete ACSC. Where I would tweak the program is with the 4 classes independent to the Captains program. If they let a now Capt (s) or junior Capt take those 4 classes and have them count as SOS (they are all military leadership classes) this program would be perfect. I have brought this up to one of the civilian dudes at Maxwell who runs the curriculum as well as pushed it to my Sq/CC for some help to make the change. It makes perfect sense and would save $$$ so I doubt the AF will adopt it. Just my .02 about the program. Feel free to PM me with specific questions.
  6. Sons of Guns premiered tonight on discovery.
  7. Sad story: A nurse in my SOS flight thought we still flew the P-51. She also had no idea what an F-22 was. Happy story: My wife (who could honestly give 2 shits about aircraft) saw a large T-tail aircraft on final here at CHS and new instantly it was in fact not a C-17 but a C-5. I was proud.
  8. If it falls during the Boeing portion it is pretty easy to get the time off and easy for the FLT/CC approval. On day one you should meet Mr. Barnes (I think that's his name) and he'll ask you which weekends you would like to have as long weekends. IIRC I had 3 3day weekends and 2 4day weekends. It's a pretty chill course and the Boeing guys will almost always work with you.
  9. Yeah, the Backdoor Steakhouse in Blair (10 min north) is pretty good. Up a little more and across the street is All American BBQ, it's ok but the place is a shithole. In Altus you have Roma's Italian which is legit. The only big chain here is Applebee's, stay away the food isn't great and it's probably the priciest place here. There is also a little sandwich shop in the back of Crown Jewelers (don't remember the name) that is pretty good, it's only open for lunch though. The Plaza is also pretty damned good (TexMex).
  10. Just saw this on the news. Not a whole lot up for auction but there maybe something of interest to you.
