  1. I can't believe it has been a year already. Life moves on but you are not forgotten my friends. Take some time tomorrow to remember not just these fine individuals but all of those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. RAIDR 21 Memorial
  2. I love how he blacks out the lat and long at the end of the video but it's there for pretty much the entire clip. Bing.com has an aerial view of his place. Looks like a redneck in paradise.
  3. Exact same damn thing happened to me at Barksdale.
  4. Vince Shlomi beats a hooker after she bites his tongue and won't let go. I just want to know if the old Batman style effects popped up in the background with "Sham" and "Wow." http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/years...27092sham1.html
  5. Haha...it's the "shocker" or 2 in the pink one in the stink. The runways form the hand gesture. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=shocker
  6. There is actually merit to this, and the rumor has been around for a while. The 69th BS was supposedly a squadron back in the day and is the next BS on the list to be re-activated. It was explained to me by the OG up there in much more eloquent terms, but I was drunk at the time that's the best I've got for now.
  7. I thought this was somewhat humorous: Davy Jones Locker
  8. As long as you have a good anti-virus you should be ok.
  9. The new houses are on the main portion of the base (next to the golf course) and include officer housing. They are carpeted throughout, no need for rugs. The old housing is still available though, so be careful what you signup for.
  10. While I agree those communities are great, the new (on-base) housing isn't bad at all. We just moved in, and there are about 16 more units opening up in a couple of weeks and many more to follow. The house is about 2000 sq.ft. upstairs downstairs, 3/2.5 with a 2 car (large) garage. I know the BAH just went up about $180 but when I was looking for comparable houses I didn't find much that compared. Now, the old on-base housing I would stay away from.
  11. I've got an idea, let's use the "highschool letter jacket" idea. Everything is stitched on the wool middle and faux leather sleeves. A big "A" on the left breast with an aircraft badge once they are CMR in their MWS with hash marks for every year CMR. On the back you have your last name in big block writing with other patches stitched on for all of your deployments, durations and locations. All ribbons/medals can be seen on the sleeves. Rank will be pinned in the center of the "A" so you have the option to "pop" your collar. Seriously, think about it, we could all relive our football/band glory days...it would be AWESOME! Haha...
  12. Shore bases=carpet bomb the fvck out of them! I would like to walk a string of 27 mk-82s right over the top of the mother ship though, tough to do if she's moving. LGB could be fun as well, imagine their faces when you pick off the smaller Boston Whalers (or whatever) leaving the mother ship all alone wondering WTF...then SHACK a facefull tritonal and straight to Allah and the virgins.
  13. While that would be one hell of a fun time and would probably achieve the desired effects with only a single target, economy of force pushes us to the more "high tech" armament.
  14. Gimme a 2 ship of BUFFs with the pod loaded with LGB/JDAM a few opportune tankers and we'll take out the entire pirate fleet.
  15. Unfortunately he has passed on along with many of his stories. My family is originaly from a small farming community about 45 minutes east of St. Louis, my Uncle Schwartz settled down later in life near Dallas.
  16. Truly an epic thread...despite all of the laughs the best thing that came from this was this little link.
  17. Great Grandfather was Army Infantry in WWI. Great Uncle Red was a Radio Operator on B-17s in WWII. Great Uncle Delbert flew C-47s in WWII, B-29s and C-9s afterwards (retired O-6). Great Uncle Schwartz was a Nose gunner on B-24s in WWII. Dad flew Tweets in the 70s (washed out) then on to missiles (retired after 22 years). Now me, a Radar Nav on the BUFF and start UPT this January.
  18. M2, Thanks for all of the advice on the XD. I went ahead and got the XD 45 Compact with a dark earth lower for my buddy. I gifted this to him just before we kicked off my farewell party at his place. I gotta say he was ecstatic to say the least. He was so proud to finally own his own pistol. The only regret is that I drank too much Saturday to be able to go shoot with him Sunday, gotta love hand grenades! We've got plans for this weekend though. I'll still be shooting my S&W while looking forward to the XD. Thanks again, you should get a commission from Springfield for your fine advertising skills. AMF
  19. We currently have an "official" (per SQ/CC) Friday patch that you are given once "named" in the squadron. We wear it on our left shoulder and also wear our callsign in place of our name tag. Depending on our WG/CC determines if we can wear it off base. When I first got here Friday was a day to wear just about whatever you wanted, that got squashed a few years back.
  20. The time has come for us to honor the crew of RAIDR 21 with their final farewell. Tomorrow at 1400 the group memorial service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery. I would like to start off by thanking our brothers from Little Rock for sacrificing a couple of training sorties and creating a long day of work to stop here at Barksdale to grab a load of us and haul us to the east coast. Thank you! Since July 21st our community has been in and out of mourning and I have watched many deal with this in different ways. We have been a part of six different funerals in the wake of NOREs, ORIs, and now an NSI. Our community is strong and we have been able to focus on the task at hand but never lost sight of the respects owed to our fallen comrades. This final chapter is much needed and much anticipated. We will unite once again at a place unlike any other and finally put our brothers, emotions, and tears to rest one final time. Finally I would like to thank the families of RAIDR 21, I have never met anyone as strong as you all. Without the strength that you showed us we would have failed, we would have failed in our day-to-day duties and more importantly we would have failed in the honoring of our brothers. Hopefully we were able to convey to you just how much each and every one of these fine heroes meant to us. Please take a second or two tomorrow and raise your glasses in memory of all of those who have given their lives while serving our great nation.
  21. I actually feel like it's not enough. He's put my wife and I up (wouldn't let us pay rent) in his place for the last couple of months prior to our PCS. I took this as an opportunity to show off the ol'gun collection and he expressed some interest. He's shot before but never owned any for himself. Hopefully this will get him started in the right direction, and also let him know how greatful we are for his help. Thanks again for the help, my google search turned up much of the same info but my nugget doesn't comprehend most of the legal jargon; it's probably going to be a BX purchase and their knowledge level is pretty low at times.
  22. Well M2 after reading your posts about the XD I decided I am going to purchase one. Bad news is it is not for me, it's a gift for a friend of mine. Here's the question now, what do I have to do to "gift" a pistol away? Is there any red tape that I/he needs to go through to make it legit? Hopefully I will get my own XD for Christmas, until then my S&W will have to get me through. I am looking at the .45 Compact 4" as the gift and the .40 SW Sub-compact 3" for myself. Thanks for the great info!
