  1. Requirements straight from their website: https://fedex.pilotcredentials.com/index.php?a=qualifications Are they saying single engine turbo prop will count for the 1000 multi (or jet) pic requirement or just the 1500 total time? Regardless, the tie breaker would obviously go to the guy with multi mil time. Guess it will just depend how many people Fedex hires. 1500 hours total fixed-wing time as pilot-in-command (PIC) or second-in-command in multi-engine turbo-prop A/C or jet A/C or combination thereof, including a minimum of 1000 hours total fixed-wing pilot-in-command in multi-engine turbo prop A/C or jet A/C or combination thereof. Note: PIC for this purpose is defined as Captain/Aircraft Commander of record, not simply the sole manipulator of the controls. Note: FedEx considers only pilot time in fixed wing aircraft toward minimum qualifications. This does not include simulator, helicopter, flight engineer, bombardier, navigator, RIO, EWO, WSO, NFO, or Special Crew.
  2. Why would anyone PCS as a copilot to be an AETC IP? I've always heard nothing you do as a Copilot is good.

    Gun Talk

Economies of scale will save us. Unless congress halts production at 187 rounds, but that would never happen!
  4. He doesn't have his masters, must be a sucky leader.
  5. Hey anyone know the name of that burger joint in Florida that serves fries too?
  6. Hopefully not, and you will be much higher than the blimposhere and in an actual cockpit!
  7. Come this fall, there will be a new and extremely powerful supercomputer in Afghanistan. But it won’t be in Dave Petraeus’ headquarters in Kabul or at some three-letter agency’s operations center in Kandahar. It’ll be floating 20,000 feet above the warzone, aboard a giant spy blimp that watches and listens to everything for miles around. That is, if an ambitious, $211 million crash program called “Blue Devil” works out as planned. As of now, the airship’s “freakishly large” hull — seven times the size of the Goodyear Blimp’s — has yet to be put together. Full article: ISR Blimp
  8. Listen to him. You will save so much more money this way (see first three years of amortization schedule below). As far as deploying goes, make sure you call USAA if you have car insurance with them and they will put your car on a storage policy for like $20/month. Tell them when you plan on getting back and it will revert back to the original policy automatically. If you don't plan on driving your car, buy a small trickle charger like this: Battery Maintainer and hook it up to keep the battery fully charged and ready. These also work great for motorcycles. Also, great neighbors are invaluable, take good care of them. 150,000 house, 5% interest, 30 year fixed Year Interest Principal Balance 2011 $7,449.74 $2,213.05 $147,786.95 2012 $7,336.52 $2,326.27 $145,460.68 2013 $7,217.50 $2,445.29 $143,015.39
  9. Thanks, I assumed a full SURF was included in the promotion folder.
  10. What's an officer selection brief and how is it used?
  11. Congrats. Night vision? I don't remember that test, but I do remember the depth perception test where you tell them which circle is closer out of circles 1-5.
  12. Pretty wild story. The 17.5 hr flight from West Africa to Brazil must have been pretty intense. Especially since the article said he was dodging thunderstorms.
  13. Wow, that sounds like a terrifying experience. What led up to that stall?
  14. Stract, just going off the link to the AIB. Trying to facilitate discussion on this so it never happens again. Hate to see this.....
  15. Would you have used rudder for that turn? I'm just confused why they were using any rudder, much less full right rudder for a turn.
  16. Can some of you C-17 guys shed some light on this part? This was the final right turn as they were completing the 80/260 reversal. Seems a little odd to use FULL right rudder in a jet. Did the board rule out hard over rudder or uncommanded rudder deflection?
  17. Just to clarify for others who are new to TSP, investing in TSP while deployed DOES NOT drive down taxable income for purposes of reducing your annual tax bill. The only advantage is, the earnings are tax free when they are withdrawn.
  18. Anyone been to safety school lately? I'm doing the FSO course in January and wondering what the lodging situation. Is it still good gouge to request the old rooms? Has anyone skied Sipapu? AD Military ski free! http://www.sipapunm.com/index.php?option=com_lodge_management&task=special_detail&id=16&startdate=&enddate=&Itemid=71
  19. I can't believe the previous owner pulled a fast one on ya, but the SNJ is a blast to fly! Do you own it or just have access through a friend? Good luck with the airplane purchase. I'm salivating over this RV-4 right now but would need another pilot to share expenses in Wichita to make it worthwhile.
