  1. Cannon may suck, but Santa Fe and ABQ are a good time and Lubbock isn't far away either. Not to mention, the AFSOC mission is legit and you'll be directly contributing to the fight. If you want to live on a beach, go work for IBM. Not saying you should be a martyr and volunteer for Cannon, but it's amazing how many people act like its their right to live in a good location, spouses especially. There are positive aspects of every location, but some people will find something to complain about anywhere they go.
  2. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Whatever. Quick, someone call the homosexual awareness SME!
  3. Quick plug for another AF pilot running for Congress, Adam Kinzinger. http://www.electadam.com/
  4. Did you get my email? Your PM box is full.
  5. I'm with Hacker on this one. Jihad on ops limits too while we're at it.

    Baseops Chat

Just cleaned out the inbox dude, my bad.
  8. Let's see some of your pics Rainman! You should have plenty of time to hunt now that you're retarded. That wasn't the best pic, trust me he looks much better in person. Drop tine on the front right of the rack and another drop tine that wraps around the back of his ear that cannot be seen in the pic. He definitely has some character. My dad was on the hunt with me that same night and shot a big doe with his bow. Dad jump seated on a FedEx jet out of Wichita, to get back home, and was nice enough to carry the deer head back with him (on ice in a huge wardrobe box) so our taxidermist in SC could get started. The loading manager at the facility in Wichita said my dad would need the Capt's permission to get it on the 757. We were a little nervous until show time, when the Capt turned out to be one of my dad's buds from the 727--the crew got a huge laugh out of the abnormally large sized box and the Capt said I just owed him some deer jerky and it wouldn't be a problem! I'm having a pedestal mount done (like the one attached) and it should be ready in 6-8 months.

    Baseops Chat

Just curious what everyone thinks about a baseops chat feature, similar to the one facebook and gmail use. I think it would be really handy for quick comms between members without going through the formalities and bandwidth issues of PM's.
  11. You were at Vance right? They had a sweet Rod and Gun Club with access to prime hunting land at Dog Face (the T-6 Aux field) near the border of OK/KS. Got this 13pt with a shotgun, but have done a lot of archery hunting out there too.
  12. What's the difference with gov't cost limit vs mileage limit? I'm assuming the mileage limit is just the cost of the gov't airline ticket Say the gov't airline ticket costs $900, you will only get $900 or less for flying a GA airplane right, regardless of any extra taxi, tie down, or misc expenses, right?
  13. Whiting Field had an archery range on base, and they even allowed us to archery hunt for deer to help with the overpopulation problem. It was a good time. You shouldn't have a problem, but it doesn't hurt to ask the gate guards.
  14. Stiffler can help you out with that one, he has a nice Piper Arrow that I've flown a good bit in....but he might be a little busy right now!
  15. It varies from base to base. Charleston AFB Aero club has 6 aircraft, with only 1 multi-engine, an Aztec I believe. The rates are affordable at AF aero clubs but the paperwork and hassle can make it worth the extra $15/hr to fly at a civilian field. Here's the CHS Aero club website http://www.jbcharleston.com/recreation/aeroclub/index.html Also, with your time and ratings, I would imagine you would be competitive for an active duty slot. Good luck man.
  16. Mods, can we just ban onetwopi from posting here. This is the most pointless thread I've seen in years.
  17. CF, do chicks as hot as Sarah Walker from "Chuck" work at your fruity yogurt shop?
  18. I've flown out of CHS space A about 6 times and it's usually really good. Flights to Hawaii are rare, so rare that the pax rep was telling me they sent a C-17 there a while back with only 10 pax and plenty of open seats! Your best bet will be the direct flight from CHS to Travis (which happens a few times a month) and trying to get on one of the daily flights to Hawaii out of Travis. Germany or Spain however, will not be a problem out of Charleston. They go to both locations almost daily. Just stick to the AMC hubs and you will be fine. BTW, pepperd.com is the a great resource. Check those flight schedules online and you can quickly find ideas on where the jets usually fly. Another thing to consider out of CHS is the Southern Shuttle which stops at Homestead, MacDill, and Jax NAS. Also, keep your eyes open for the flight to St Croix, I've always wanted to do that and it looks like it would be relatively effortless. Let me know if you have any other questions and let me know how the trip goes. Good luck.
  19. Sounds like a good idea for a thread. Not sure if this is how you spell it, but "schosh" is one of my favorites. "Hyaka" is pretty good too.
  20. Non Standard Aviation. You might hear NSAv tossed around too.
  21. Definitely an MBA--without an advanced business degree, you don't stand a chance of getting into TPS! It's already competitive enough, make sure you set yourself apart and get an MBA.
  22. It's not simulated PIC time. It's real PIC time, at least according to FAR part 61 where, "sole manipulator of the controls" is one of the definitions of PIC. In theory, if the co-pilot is flying, he can log PIC (under civilian rules) for being "sole manipulator of the controls", while the AC simultaneously logs it for "acting as pilot-in-command of an aircraft on which more than one pilot is required". I'm pretty sure the major airlines want only time that you have signed out the jet reflected in you logbook as "PIC", but that may vary.
  23. Gotta love the "LBJ" cameo at the end.
