  1. http://www.northkoreanopen.com/home.html I'm pretty sure this is legit, which makes it even more hilarious.
  2. Yep, no surprise it happened in Aurora. Back to the point though, glad to see there are still some good people in this world.
  3. Because there is no guarantee that they will sell that seat so they're covering their ass. It sucks for the customer but it makes sense from their perspective.
  4. Great points--I think one would have to want to willfully undo the US/UK relationship in order to truly put it in jeopardy as there are just too many wheels turning for stuff like this to cause a problem. Even so, the author isn't terribly off base here, as much as they may just be trying to drum up a story. I can think of several instances where one government got pissed when a senior official from another government used poor word choice or was quoted out of context. These are just the things you have to deal with when everything you say is on record.
  5. Don't the Navy and USMC also have aircraft mx officers? Where do they fit into the picture?
  6. Would it be germane to point out that CAP sunk two U-Boats in WWII?
  7. Stupid question....wouldn't the engine wake be a bit tricky to ride behind, even at that low of a speed?
  8. 1 international airport+1 major city+130 degree summer heat+Strict laws regarding alcohol, women in public, etc=Guaranteed clusterfuck
  9. Would you prefer the equally arbitrary coin flip that is the last-resort tiebreaker in the NFL? IMHO this is why I prefer college football to the NFL. Each game is meaningful--I have a hard time giving a crap about a Colts/Pats game in October when both are going to make the playoffs and not really decide things until 2 months later. And as much as I also would prefer a playoff system I also think it will be mired in just as much controversy. There's always going to be someone who will be on the outside looking in (i.e. a 1-loss Boise St wouldn't get an at-large bid over a 1-loss team from a major conference, or they're not going to let the MAC or Sun Belt champ qualify for the playoffs).
  10. While Powell is one of my favorite public figures (and personally I think he's done with being a cabinet secretary), the tradition of not having former generals (MacArthur being the exception) as SECDEF exists for good reason.
  11. I think these people read a little too much into Seymour Hersh's supposed revelations about JSOC being a super-top-secret assassin squad that no one knew about until he wrote about them.
  12. I'm glad this one lived to tell the tale. Many don't, unfortunately.
  13. Yes, they have reserve units but you have to have served as an active duty pilot first. Maybe you should make another pass at Airwarriors and use the search function this time. Obviously that didn't factor into your "exponential amount of research."
  14. Given his country's contributions to ISAF I wonder what his home country's government would say about this.
  15. Considering China gives one a means to communicate with the outside world (unlike highly secretive North Korea) defection is defection as far as the DPRK is concerned.
  16. Only in North Korea would a Mig-21 be considered "fairly advanced."
  17. I don't see anything the Germans did that wouldn't be done here.
  18. Public siding with the FA? Guess that adage about the blindest squirrel is true.
  19. +1. A lot of the government has become a jobs program, unfortunately.
  20. Am I the only one who finds the media's shock over this very naive? Their response has essentially been, "How can there be Russian spies in the US...Obama and Medvedev just had cheeseburgers together!"
  21. Dems are claiming GOP plant. That would be the only remotely plausible theory at this point, though they've also played that card in a couple of South Carolina elections where the "preferred" guy didn't win as of late.
