How you guys keep talking about Cobra Kai without Karate Kid references is beyond me.

- How Do They Look At Your GPA for Selection?
Holy f@cking quibbling! Shut that shit up dude, no one cares about the details of why you can't do well in easy classes. Figure it out and do better. Honestly, if you can't apply yourself enough to get a 3.0 in an easy college program, you're either too dumb or too lazy for pilot training. I'm no genius but I graduated with honors with a Mechanical Engineering degree because I worked my ass of when I had to. I also drank every weekend with the bros. Figure it out.- Japanese stealth fighter
Shack. I imagine reverse engineering is only a fraction of the cost of real engineering...- Track Selects and Assignment Nights
Last years FAIP drop out of SPS had a good mix of all the fighters and some b-52s (think it was the most recent, dudes are in IFF now).- How weird is it if I report in for interview? (civilian)
If they ask you to, then do it. If not, then don't. I think it would be strange for a civilian to do it. I would expect you to walk in confident and professional and start introducing yourself (and I mean tell them your name, shake their hands and STFU). DISCLAIMER: I've never sat on a board sts. If you are asked to, make sure to practice it so you don't look/sound like an idiot.- Track Selects and Assignment Nights
WTFO?- Guard/Reserve timeline to UPT
My unit had no problem with myself and a few other selects making up 3 months of drill at one time. Show up for drill one month and use the week previous or after to make up drills for other months.- More cadets selected for FT 2015; more rated/pilot slots too?
Not sure what good that would do, unless they increase the resources for UPT/IFF/FTUs. My uneducated guess based solely on observation is that they are already pushing max capacity (at least at UPT). Selecting more pilots from ROTC would only increase the already large amount of LTS sitting on casual status for almost 12 months before starting.- Pilots brawl before takeoff
"Nobody makes me get my own TOLD" - Guy without a job anymore...- IFF (Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals) info
The 88th at SPS is a pretty awesome squadron but, depending on who you are flying with, there's no slack. However, most guys have no problem getting through. Washing out isn't really a huge threat but I've seen about 1 person every other class or so wash out recently (past 6 months). Probably about 25% of the senior class will be on CAP and a ride or 2 away from washing out also. So while it isn't statistically likely to wash out, a few guys walk the line every class it seems. Some dudes from UPT at SPS went to other bases for IFF and their opinion was that the other bases are a little less of a threat. If only Over-Gs weren't an auto hook...- Replacement to the T-38
At SPS, we did one sim per phase and it was a prerequisite for the flight. I.E., before flying offensive bfm, we did an OBFM sim. Same for DBFM and Surface Attack, but that was it. 4 instrument sims and 1 EP sim made up the rest.- Fallon's ejection watch gift
What?- IFF (Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals) info
^^^Where did you go to IFF?- Replacement to the T-38
Having been through IFF as a stud, it was a lot easier to respect the dudes who left the CAF to be IFF IP's vs. listening to the FAIP in UPT telling me what I needed to do to perform well in my fighter squadron. However, while I think it was good to be exposed to the flying, I'm not sure why it is necessary. It's not like we got good at BFM and Basic SA because we only got 4 OB rides, 4 DB rides, and 4 Basic SA rides, 2 HB rides and 2 SAT rides (for Viper/Strike guys), not enough to become proficient at anything. Also, most of the IP's brief you in the BFM sorties the limitations of the -38 and how you won't necessarily fight the same in your follow on fighters. Plus, the only people I have seen struggle with IFF were guys who did not do well in UPT (ironically guard guys from fighter units) and just couldn't fly good formation. I think the biggest learning in IFF has nothing to do with the jet. There is a significant difference in the squadron attitude, how it operates, and what they expect of you vs. UPT.- suggestions with choosing which unit to join?
How about you quit being a giant vag and work your ass off to do well in the engineering field you want. Then join the unit willing to hire you. FYI, I went to ENJJPT and probably 75% of the studs there had engineering degrees, including myself. They we're also decent athletes, really good dudes/dudettes, and they were freaking smart too. There's no shortage of people willing to do the things you aren't in order to get to ENJJPT.- What is the notification process if you get picked up?
^^^ I would not expect to start this summer. If it happens, great. My assumption is that the have all the classes filled for the fiscal year, so starting after October is probably more likely.- Visiting a unit
Yeah dude send her shopping or something. And bring a nice bottle of booze.- What is the notification process if you get picked up?
^^ So where do academy grads do MFS?- What is the notification process if you get picked up?
Wright Patt does two different things. The actual initial FC-1 physical and then MFS. MFS is like a psychological evaluation (at least that's what it appeared to be to me). If I remember correctly, it was a few hours answering questions on a computer.- Air National Guard/ Active Duty Pilot Select Decision

I think it's about 50/50 between A/A and A/G and a good mix of strikes/vipers. This class literally dropped 12 AD Vipers though. 1 Raptor, 2 X C-130 and German Tornadoes/EF-2000.- Track Selects and Assignment Nights
