  1. I have yet to use any post 9/11, but I believe they go straight to the school first and any overage on your school account goes to you. I believe the VA just sees your tuition and fees and pays that amount, regardless of what other grants or what not pay also. The Montgomery GI Bill went straight to your checking account. I don't know what this new proposal does. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  2. Yep, I paid in $100/month for the first 12 months as an E-1/E-2 for the Montgomery GI Bill. Then, after leaving AD and going Guard, that plus my guard GI Bill kicker paid me something around $2000/month for 4 years while I was in College. So pretty good investment in my mind. Icing on the cake was the State Tuiton Assistance Program my guard unit had. They paid all my tuiton. My GI Bill went straight to my checking account. And neither were taxable income, so I got grants on top of that haha. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  3. Nobody gives a shit about T-6's except in the UPT world. In fact, nobody gives a shit how you performed in T-38's after assignment night. Most guys get better with time, so if you make it through, continue to work your ass off and you'll have a blast flying fighters. I can say, with absolute certainty, that how you perform in T-6s has absolutely nothing to do with how you'll perform in a fighter squadron. As Hacker said, at least if a guy flew 38s and graduated, you know he has the potential. If a guy never flew 38s, it's unknown, regardless of if he "finished T6s #1 by a mile." FAIPmafia turned down 38s. Great. Thanks for doing us fighter guys a solid. But now he's bitching about flying 38s being a requirement, and is pretty sure he's going to be "aight"? YGBSM. 4. Dude, this is the point where you should realize you don't know what you don't know and STFU. There's a difference between flying an airplane and employing it as a weapon. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  5. Don't care, get over it. Not sure why you think FAIPs should be better. They walk into the B-course with the same amount of experience flying fighters as anyone else. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  6. I agree, SA and Airmanship transfer to any airframe. And I'm not saying the heavy guy who goes to fighters is gonna suck, it's just that his experience will not give him a leg up. It just isn't relevant. Same with FAIPs. There are a few in every B-course and, from what I've seen, they graduate on the same level as their peers. Their FAIP experience did not give them a leg up. 7. Not to downplay their service, but their experience really won't mean shit when they start flying fighters. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  8. Agreed. Chang, I'm a Guard dude, in a good guard fighter squadron, loving life flying fighters. I partially agree with your comments about the pessimists on this forum; I think they make up ~50% of the people complaining here. However, I think the other 50% are good dudes who are sick of getting boned by the AF and have decided to take their talent elsewhere. I say that to let you know that I don't have a dog in the fight (yet, hopefully it doesn't trickle down and infiltrate my guard unit). Your posts on this forum come off as nothing more than ignorant and one sided, almost scripted. You have the opportunity to truly hear out the exact population you're trying to retain and you could be having genuine conversations with them, on this forum, and just talk like humans who give a shit about fellow humans, but you don't. WTF? Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  9. Yeah, I was referring to people who just weren't ready for AC upgrade, due to time or hours or whatever other requirements you might need. It does sound dumb to take a guy who is experienced enough in his MWS to be AC, then throw him into a new MWS where he's going to be on par with the new LTs out of the B-course (from a tactical standpoint.) Spoiler alert, to get good in a fighter (like anything else for that matter) takes studying the tactics and weapons, going out, flying it, messing something up, and then doing it over and over and over. It takes TIME! Except for me, I never screw up and always get it right the first time. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  10. Not to bring up our favorite dick measuring topic, but... If their community has not upgraded them to AC, why would you throw them in a fighter where they're going to be the AC? Admittedly, I don't know anything about what it's like to be a co-pilot or anything about heavies as far as CRM goes. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  11. Holloman AFB. Best in Air Force? Check out the close up of their hours. Did the same thing, door was shut but not locked. I walk in and everyone is essentially ing off. All civilians with a few non present enlisted personnel. They were not happy to see me. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  12. Isn't that something everyone is wishing their leadership would be doing? Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  13. Best case scenario, they push this agenda a little further for the next couple years, Vipers get AESA, then they decide it's a bad idea, upgrade Eagles to 10x2 load outs and they're still there to soak up the SAMs. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  14. Care to expand on this? Current 11F Guard dude with an engineering degree, have always been curious about TPS but have not looked into the requirements/process much yet. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  15. I should add, as a guard guy who went through ENJJPT, I prefered it there for a few reasons. First, I think it's the best located UPT base out of all of them. Second, I didn't have to move to go to IFF and I could sandbag the program, which gave me a leg up on what to expect before starting. Third, flying and partying with the NATO bros was a blast. There's always something going on. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  16. Dude, it doesn't matter. If you graduate and get through IFF, once you're at the B-course your success will be based on how much effort you put it and how much the bros in your class work together. Nobody will give a shit about the last base you were at. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  17. Flying fighters. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  18. Yes. It's a joke Nancy. My drunken fingers hit enter before I finished typing the first time. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  19. Was it due to the fear of getting ATIS by yourself? Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  20. Copy - can't fly and get ATIS. That's all you had to say. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  21. No. We're single seat fighter pilots, we have to be good at multi tasking while flying our jet. Most of our multi tasking happens in a very dynamic environment. I can't speak for everyone but I use it at night in a CAS wheel sometimes, while I'm getting eyes/sensors on a target and getting a 9 line. I would also use it if I was working my way through a long checklist if the EP wasn't a "Land as soon as possible" situation. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  22. Sooooo... Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  23. Kelly is a full up B-course. Typically they only have 1 class at a time though. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  24. I should preface that statement with the fact that I'm not super smart about Guard retirement points stuff. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  25. Are you talking about 20+ years TIS or the equivalent of 20 AD years? I haven't run the numbers but it seems like switching to the new system is a better deal (if you max the match) for someone in the Guard who won't have a lot of active duty time by the time they hit 20 years TIS, especially if they're fairly young.
