  1. How would Warrants work any better in those positions that SNCOs/CGOs? As for a leadership problem in the USAF, no, I don't see it being much worse than I've seen it on numerous occasions in the past. Much of what the leadership gets blamed for isn't their fault. Do you really think this recent "PC" witch hunt was their decision? Do you think the budget cuts are their idea? Do you think all this whining and moaning is something new? I was around for "the good old days," and they weren't always that good all the time either. I'd be more concerned if people weren't whining...
  2. Warrants aren't the answer, they are single-track specialty officers and while that may be appealing to someone who wants to stay in the cockpit his/her entire career; it doesn't answer our leadership issue (if there even is one). My suggestion is to allow them to grow beards. It worked during the Civil War and with Special Forces! Even a Pentagon study proves it! Cheers! M2

Unfortunately, 10/22 mags (especially the BX-25s) were some of the first targets of the panic buying (along with .22LR ammo)...

Knew some folks that were at SHOT. Rumors are that ammo is backordered six months to a year. AR pattern guns, six months to a year. Popular magazines (AR pattern), a year; meaning that if everyone quits buying now, the last pending orders would be filled about this time next year! People in the industry are worried that if all this dies down, then the same thing that happened four years ago will happen again...the backorders will get cancelled, as Bubba J ordered the same AR from ten shops and only paid for the first one that came in. The other nine are left in stock. That is considered "bad" for any industry. Additionally, "buyer's remorse" for those who bought all these guns at 2-3x their normal cost will occur; and the market will be flooded with them trying to recoup their purchase. Obviously that won't happen with such a badly-saturated market, and prices will drop like rocks. And if ammo doesn't end up being threatened by a ban, it too will flood the market as the bills for those credit cards that were used during the panic start arriving in people's mail. We saw this rollercoaster ride back in 2008, and many suspect it'll happen again this time around. But then again, it might not as we see more liberal states adopting stricter gun restrictions (such as NY). Like any other market, it's hard to predict what will happen; but it's all a matter of where your interests lie. I loaded up on ammo before the 2008 panic and am still sitting on some. Sure the current price is double of what I paid for it, but its intrinsic value to me is much greater than its monetary value. All I have to do is recover it from the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico...

That would be the SHOT Show, which was last week. I wish I could have gone, but know some folks that did. It was a great time from their accounts. That Federal .22LR is great ammo, I wish it was in stock. I would probably jump on this deal if it was, despite the fact that I don't own any .22LR firearms! Cheers! M2

Ain't no .22LR to be found anywhere, at least not easily. It's been has tough if not tougher to find that .223 in some places! And yes, everyone is panic buying, even those of us who no longer own any firearms! Where have you been for the last month?
  7. As most people whose jobs have been outsourced believed before it happens... Wanna bet? Another bad assumption.

My XDS has been was exceptional, and a 9mm version was introduced at this week's SHOT show. I have no plans to get one, as it's pretty much exactly the same size as the Taurus PT709 Slim I used to own...

  12. The easiest place to find the correct info is Wikipedia (while not an acceptable reference, it does source its information). This hit the gun forums multiple times about 2-3 weeks ago, and if you watch the video you will see it's from shortly after the shooting. Later releases corrected the initial claim that he only had handguns. Don't worry about it, it's caused a lot of confusion as the story gets regurgitated. Cheers! M2
  13. They are using an old video from shortly after the shooting, when there was still confusion over what weapons were used at Sandy Hook. HIs primary weapon was a Bushmaster XM-15, as the coroner's report indicated that most of the fatalities were caused by .223 ammunition (sans the shooter's self-inflicted fatal shot). In addition to the Bushmaster, the asshole had a 10mm Glock 20 SF and a 9mm SIG Sauer, as well as a shotgun in his vehicle that was not used. No idea which pistol was used to end his own life, I only wish he had done so first. It's been discussed ad nauseam on gun forums...
  14. Mainly because our Canadian liaison officer, who was a good friend of mine and a shooting buddy, was the one who initially told me about it! Just a sign of superior intellect, nothing to be jealous of!

I have had the PT709 Slim and am was very impressed by it. It is was the same size as my XD-S, holds held 7+1 rounds, and has had the "Strike Two" capability (essentially an automatic DA re-strike) in that if for some reason the first pull of the trigger doesn't ignite the round (usually because of a hard primer), all you have to do is pull the trigger again (Taurus claims there is a 93% change the round will fire on the second strike) It also has had a slide lock, which many gun newbies prefer (I don't) and a very short trigger reset which I do like (and wish my XD pistols were the same). Recoil is was very managable and no more snappy than my no longer around PT111 Mil-Pro which is was bigger and heavier. But the two best things about Taurus pistols is that they are inexpensive (the Slim can still be found for around $350), all of mine have been were 100% reliable, and they warranty the gun for life no matter if you're the original owner or the seventh owner. The PT111 I got in a swap had a bent lip on one of the mags, I contacted Taurus CS and was sent a form to return it. About a week later, I got a new mag in the mail which has since been lost to the ages. If I weren't such a big .45ACP fanboy or was on a budget, I would have no problems carrying any of my former Taurus pistols (I also have a PT739 TCP) as a primary self-defense weapon if I still had them. I simply prefered the larger round for increased wounding effectiveness and the recoil characteristic of "pushing" more than "snapping" up until such time as every single gun I owned, plus all the ammo I had stored up, fell overboard in the Gulf of Mexico thanks to a freak seagull attack on our boat! Cheers! M2
  18. Welcome to three years ago... I remember seeing that movie, it was pretty funny... And now he's claiming he was the victim of a hoax ("catfishing"). What a douchebag.
  19. Anyone know of a place in San Antonio that does repairs? There's someone looking to have the cuffs replaced on their jacket, and I honestly have never needed that done. Cheers! M2

Wait, that's right, it's "for the children!" Anyone can see this is just more eyewash from Obama. Much like his "stimulus" program, a lot of money will be flushed down the toilet and nothing will be gained from it. He passed the buck on to Congress because he knows he can blame them later if they don't support his proposals. And having those kids around him during the speech, it's sad that he still continues to use such antics to preserve his own image. At least Biden knows everything thinks he's an asshole, Obama still believes people think he's the second coming of Christ!
