OK, anyone picked up one of these yet? It's a Zastava PAP M92PV pistol, similar to the Romanian Draco but has a hinged top cover and flip up sights. I saw a few at the gun show this morning but the lowest price I found was $589 and J&G and CTD both have 'em for $549. Since I have a bud who is a FFL I can do the transfer at no cost. Since they are categorized as a pistol, 922r does not apply so no modifications have to be made when they are brought in country; and technically under Texas law you can conceal carry one! Very tempting, but I'm also itching to find a XDm .45 Comp Series in 5.25" so I don't know which I'll pick up first. Cheers! M2

This is a question you're gonna have to answer for yourself. Are you ready for college? How are your high school transcripts? Honestly, are you ready for the challenge of college and AFROTC? Are you ready to accept that despite your best effort, you may not get a pilot slot? As a prior guy, I can tell you there are tangible benefits to spending a few years in the USAF before going to college; but I needed to. I would've flunked out had I gone straight out of high school, and not only did I mature considerably during my enlisted tenure I also knocked off some college credits. There are also advantages to going Guard/Reserves if you go to school, but honestly it would only be for two years as once you go into the POC in AFROTC you'll need to resign from the Guard/Reserves. When I finished my active duty enlistment and went off to college, I was in the Reserves for about a year and a half; it helped a lot but juggling it, AFROTC and college was a lot. The main advantage would be if you wanted to fly for a particular Guard/Reserve unit, enlisting in it will help your chance later on; but if you intend to go on active duty that's not the route you want. However, you chances of flying and getting a particular airframe are better going Guard/Reserve. Hope that helps, best of luck to you whatever you decide... Cheers! M2

Brick Somehow I missed your previous post. Not surprisingly, I also picked up a XDs about two months ago. Been looking for one for several months, then suddenly Academy Sports had one in the case when I stopped by there to pick up some ammo. Once I held it, I wouldn't let it go... I totally concur with your pros/cons, although I am actually surprised at how tame this little pistol is once you realize it is a .45 pocket gun! Sure, after shooting the .22 Neos it felt like a cannon, but on its own it is probably the best anyone is going to get at calming down shooting such a large, heavy bullet out of such a small package! That said, I haven't shoved a couple of hundred rounds down the pipe in a single sitting. I also accept that there's some compromise given the thing was designed to be a easy-to-conceal or back-up gun. I love the fact that I can carry two pistols of the same caliber, and that caliber being .45 ACP! I too snagged a 7-round mag but honestly I am not sure if I really like it that much! It removes the "smallness" which is its main selling point. On the XDs forum (XDTalk), many guys are using it as their second mag. That's probably how I'll go, as I like I can actually pocket carry this thing without a problem. As for SD ammo, I'm using 230 gr Federal Hydra-Shoks JHPs same as with my XD-45. I put a box through my XDs without any problems, and I've had nothing but great results with it. Now, the hunt is one for a good CCW holster. There's numerous discussions on that subject over on XDTalk, but I haven't decided which would work best for me yet. Cheers! M2 p.s. Forgot to add, in case you haven't figured it out already, 1911 loaders work great on these magazines!

I thought this signaled her expected foray into the world of porn, but apparently not (yet)... Turns out that LaBella works for Representative John Shimkus, an Illinois Republican! Where's Charlie Sheen, this sounds like his kind of party! Cheers! M2

Report Slams Military's Recent Camouflage Uniforms

Or like there's time to do a wardrobe change. Ships move pretty quickly through the water, and most time people go overboard it's unnoticed at first... -
It's interesting that he was a wing/cc twice (Shaw and Misawa), three times actually if you include the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing...

WTF? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZR6Cw_3q1Pg From the Turkish movie 'Kareteci Kız' (1973) so no, that's not Rowan Atkinson! Actually, his name is Bülent Kayabaş and he's still acting as recently as 2009!

I was bopping around the local gun show with my teenage son a few weekends back when I hear a young lady working a booth say "We think it's Polish, but we're not sure what it is!" Obviously, that got my attention so I walked over and saw this... A Polish NSP-2 night vision scope. I start talking to the young lady and some other guy working the booth, and he tells me he bought from some dude who found it in an abandoned storage locker (ala Storage Wars). He also lets slip what he paid for it ($80), so I offer him $100 and he says he doesn't know how much it's worth but he'll take it. It's not pristine but it's also not in bad shape for a 1960s first generation night vision scope. It's missing the battery, but what little I have found I've been able to find some folks say a 6v battery will work. The upside? Well, like I said it was an insane deal. After I got home, I found that in this state, these usually run about $300. Plus, the cool factor is high. Still, I would like to see if it is operational...I know this is older technology, but it should still work. Here's a pic of it on my Saiga... It weighs a freaking ton and is monstrous compared to the red dot I normally run on this AK! Cheers! M2

I knew him as a colonel at SHAPE, he was a pretty good dude. I was also just over at USFJ for work and passed by him a few times, but he didn't recognized me as I've changed quite a bit since retiring (I pretty much look like "The Dude" from The Big Lebowski these days) and he was busy so I didn't want to interrupt him. So why the question? Feel free to PM me if you want, my experience is a bit dated but it was all pretty much positive if that's what you're looking for... Cheers! M2

I have the 2005 IOM TT DVD, honestly it is more amazing that Superbikes and even MotoGP! Riding at those speeds along such narrow, twisty roads takes massive tackle (to coin a Brit phrase). Many professional riders are not allowed to race it because of the risks involved. The fact that Joey Dunlop won it 26 times, to include three hat tricks (1985, 1988 and 2000), is beyond belief. Dunlop was killed in 2000 during a race in Estonia, and 50,000 people attended his funeral. A statue of him astride a Honda was also placed on the course at Bungalow Bend at Snaefell. He was very superstitious, and always wore a red t-shirt under his leathers and a yellow helmet. The man was and continues to be a legend in motorcycling... Cheers! M2

I am still in shock, Rich was a king among men, a positive force on everyone he met and a true inspiration. The world is a sadder place without him. Godspeed my friend, you will be badly missed! ~ M2

$559 for a .22LR? Sorry, I love .22s; but that's a lot more than I'm willing to spend on one especially considering that you can get a GSG-522 from Bud's Gun Shop for just over three hundred bucks or even a used 10/22 for $150-200 easily. For that money, you can get a much bigger caliber rifle and really do some damage! Cheers! M2

Not a lot of notable landmarks in that area that the majority of Americans would know of, heck I would be surprised if many people in this country could even find Afghanistan or Pakistan on a map. I think it was just a general reference for those types, as I doubt Jalalabad or even Islamabad would register. But for the most part Abbotabad is about 230 miles due east of Kabul... -
Actually, she wasn't the one who made the call...got this FBI news release today: Nothing on the ex-girlfriend yet...
