Yep, just a cheap-o BSA laser but to be honest it works extremely well in conjunction with the 120 lumen SureFire 6P mounted up front. Combined I get a large, blinding light with a nice little red dot where the shot is going. Contrary to popular believe, the spread at 10-15 feet is not as broad as most people think. I am not a fan of lights on handguns, preferring a separate flashlight; but on the shottie I will make an exception. I've trained with this set-up and even with the cheap BSA laser I can be very effective with it. And this is the LaserLyte Kryptonyte Center Mass shotgun laser, which projects nine laser dots: eight in a circular pattern with the final dot in the center of the ring. Actually, it isa single laser that is refracted and split into nine different beams. Read the original article here: https://www.gunsholstersandgear.com/2012/11/02/laserlyte-kryptonyte-center-mass-shotgun-laser/ . Make sure you visit GunsHolstersAndGear.com for all of the latest gun news, reviews and SHOT Show coverage. The idea is to provide the shooter a visual representation of where the shot will strike. The farther away the target, the larger the circle. The approximate spread is 1″ per yard of distance. While not exact, this is a relatively decent approximation that has been taught to defensive shotgun shooters using traditional 00-buck loads in an 18″ barrel pump gun. Nice, but not worth $255 (from Amazon, MSRP is $285) in my opinion. Cheers! M2

Butters, I've heard WWII combat vets use the term 'clips' for magazines, which is when I quit getting annoyed about it...

Arizona and New Mexico are on the short list if I were ever to leave Texas. Colorado used to be, but with the recently proposed legislation (mentioned above) I think their days of being "pro-gun" are numbered...

I stand by my comments. That site is well known for being full of morons, and what little time I've spent there confirmed it. Funny thing is, if you actually go to BARF.com it's a website for premium dog food!

BARF.com has too many idiots on it, every time I wander over there I see way too much stupidity to make me want to stick around...

The story itself is not really a WTF... ...but the dude in question is. I was expected some 400+ pound tubby, but this guy wasn't all that fat! WTF?

Been a lot of talk on this, all I can say is that a Grand Jury decided to indict him (issue a "true bill") after reviewing all the evidence. While I understand his reaction, his use of lethal force was not justifiable under Texas Penal Code Section 46. Murder in the absence of self-defense is never allowed, either morally or legally. Remember that all the Grand Jury does is determine if probable cause exists to try someone for an offense. It is not an insinuation of guilt. If he has a good defense lawyer, he will claim extreme emotional distress and temporary mental incapacity. I think that will be sufficient in getting an acquittal. I have deep sympathy for the father as I would probably have the same reaction given the circumstances. I hope he walks; while I don't agree with his actions, I most certainly understand them. As for the drunk driver, he got what he deserved, no matter how it was administered...

I'd much rather have national reciprocity for all CHL holders, being military should not give anyone more rights in this regard than an average citizen (which is Hacker's point). But I disagree with his claim that the same goes with law enforcement. That is one area where I think an exception needs to be made. I know quite a few LEOs and many have to take extraordinary bu necessary measures to protect themselves and their families. Chances are slim that military personnel are going to run into a Taliban at the local Walmart, but off-duty law enforcement officers always run the risk of bumping into felons they've arrested in a public place. Speaking of which, an amendment to LEOSA was passed this year which further clarified that military police officers and civilian police officers employed by the US Government unambiguously met the definitions in the original Act. What that means has yet to be decided by the DoD, but some believe this will give those who performed law enforcement duties in the military. What will be necessary is for the DoD to issue some sort of identification to those eligible (as law enforcement officers much have). To what extent the DoD will offer this has yet to be seen, but some speculate it could extend as far as to those who held UCMJ authority at one point (e.g. G-series orders).

Hell, I'd be more impressed if state carry laws applied on military installations. I understand USC 18 Sec 930, but not even allowing people to keep personally-owned firearms in their vehicles when state law allows it is just stupid!
  10. Been trying to read the article during breaks of my day, I am not overly impressed so far. It's more whining than anything, the guy gets out so close to retirement and wonders why there aren't any jobs outside of private security contractor gigs. No fucking shit! It's a good lesson to all that not every military skill transfers into the civilian world. Have fun during your career, but be prepared as it won't last forever! And the retirement plan ain't no secret either. Given his career, he could have easily found a job in the Navy that didn't require him to be a frontline pipehitter. Anyone whose read Yellow Green Beret, Chester has a pretty accurate description of SEALs...Sleep, Eat and Lift!

Respectfully agree to disagree. There's a lot more to being a cop than shooting (but I agree, most cops are lousy at it and many will admit it!) just as there is a lot more to being in the military than marching.

Got this for $275, not bad considering the current market. I'm picking it up later this week... I know they have a reputation for being a bit finicky with ammo, but what .22 isn't? Even .22 firearm I own has its quirks, but I'm expecting this to be a fun plinker. Cheers! M2

$1200 for a standard WASR-10? OK, it's a GP but that's no real biggie. That's not double their price from six months ago, that's more than triple it. WASR-10s went as low as $299 last year, but were mainly running around $350-400 at best...

  18. The question is, what post-military job opportunities do Navs/EWO/WSO/CSO's and ABM's not have?! I have to agree with nsplayr here, there are plenty of employment opportunities post-military. The vast majority of retired and prior-service officers I know are employed in lucrative positions. While some don't end up in aviation; most are skilled, experienced and motivated enough to find some kind of good work (and pay) once they leave the military. But of course, some prepare themselves for that eventuality better than others...
