  1. There is a team keeping the website running for Rich's family...one individual handling operations/management, another serving as the web mastermind, yet another running advertising/sales, and two administrators...

That's interesting, as my GSG-5 is very finicky when it comes to ammo (my -522 is not nearly as bad)... Thanks for the info, I might just have to snag some just to see. Cheers! M2
  3. Bumped it up to five, think that's enough...

    WTF?
  5. Yep, about 1000NM further than Belgrade...

Not really a 'WTF,' just thought this was the most appropriate place for it...
  7. I read 'em years ago for some insight into the forces involved in that conflict, now I'm just re-engaging 'em for my own entertainment. From what I remember, they are more of a collection of battle reports than a comprehensive study of the tactics employed; but now that we are winding up operations there it will be interesting to see what similarities exist between what the Soviets did and ours efforts. I'm just starting it but I can already see what you mean. I was hoping his chest-thumping would wear off after the beginning but it is typical SEAL (Marcinko was the same way). No Easy Day was the exception, and if you're interested in an excellent series of books from a SOF guy, I highly recommend Yellow Green Beret!

Since my post was about a book on the movie Red Dawn, I thought it appropriate to post here; but the subsequent comments concerning books better belong in the thread so I moved them there.

Jim Carrey has always been a douche...

OK, not the latest version, but definitely the better one! For those with a Kindle, there's a free book being offered on the original (better) movie... I just downloaded it, but I'm in the middle of three books already at the moment (American Sniper, The Bear Went Over The Mountain and The Other Side of the Mountain). so it might be a while before I get to it. Cheers! M2

WTF are you talking about, that's a fucking classic! Some people just can't appreciate high-brow humor! I bet you don't think David Sleaze is funny either!

    WTF?

M2 can also permanently ban people from this forum so perhaps it's not a wise idea to question his actions... Plus, it's only 214,748,3647 'Likes,' so try to be a bit more precise next time. Lastly, it's been discussed before so Your penance is to post appropriate material in the Squadron Bar Daily Pic & Video Thread NSFW thread.
  14. Note that in gearpig's example he used some "alternate" punctuation as to keep the forum software from interpreting and converting the text as code. For example, in the URL he used ';' instead of ':' and in his embedding example he used the brack '{' instead of '[' Adjust accordingly...

This. .22LR is scarce at the moment, .40 is probably the most available handgun caliber around at the moment. It's easier to find that 9mm and .45ACP. If I see any .22, I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat!

Yea, I might just have to succumb to using GunBroker. The biggest problem with that is that it is blocked on NIPRNET at work. Such bullshit. I saw that, and it beats the $55/50 rounds priced box I saw at the gun show this morning. Funny thing though, I stopped by Alamo Ammo and they said they didn't have any. I might just have to swing by their store as I would prefer to score some locally. Otherwise, I may have to just see what I can score via GunBroker. Thanks! M2

OK gents, if anyone stumbles across any 7.62x25 Tokarev ammo, let me know. I've got a Yugo M57 inbound and need to find something to shoot through it... Cheers! M2

This surprises you? I could tell by the trailer that it was going to be bullshit...
  19. Have you ever computed your BMI? There are numerous websites that will calculate it for you. For my age (50) and height (6' 2") I am considered "overweight" at 195 lbs (a BMI of 25.4, anything over 25 is considered "overweight"). I am a couple of pounds over that, so despite running three miles three times a week, and exercising three other times a week, I am considered "out of shape" yet I am in better shape than at least half if not two-thirds the uniformed Air Force personnel I see where I work. By the way, I also wear size 36 waist pants. Not sure what my "official" waist measurement would be as being retired, I honestly don't give a fuck!

It still is if you know where to look. I just scored 400 rounds of Yugo M67 (7.62x39) for $75 in the wooden crate. Sure, it was via a private sale; but deals like this are out there. You just have to keep looking and strike quickly when it pops up...

Not according to the Texas Ranger I talked with the other day! I know it's not always been like that, but I know in recent history (last 20 years or so) it's been that way.
  22. Yeah, like 3AF/CC Lt Gen Craig Franklin for overturning the conviction of Lt. Col. James Wilkerson, former 31 FW IG at Aviano? UCMJ Art 60 gives Franklin the right as convening authority to overrule the court-martial, but look where that decision has landed him. Every decision will be scrutinized by higher headquarters and civilian leadership alike. We might all wish we/they had the authority (and backing) to make such decisions, but the truth is that most leadership is watching out for their own ass more than anything else's... The "system" is fucked...

That'd be Specialty Sports & Supply on E. Fountain. It's a usual stop whenever I'm up in the Springs. Prices are high (Rocky Mountain high? ) compared to Texas, but it's a fun place to wander around and they do have a pretty good selection of stuff. I wonder what Dragonman is gonna do?!?
  24. M2 replied to slacker's topic in Squadron Bar
Yet the whole time he played Walker Texas Ranger, he had a beard (Texas Rangers are not allowed to have beards). He also wore a black hat, Texas Rangers don't wear black hats.

Springfield 1911s are the shit, I have had four before the tragic boat accident and loved them all, from the basic GI to the Lightweight Operator. I would love to pick up a TRP (the FBI uses them and they are simply outstanding pistols), but alas I fear it would suffer the same fate and end up at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico (damn seagulls!)... As for the gun show and background checks, basically you're saying it was business as usual, right?
