  1. That depends entirely on whose opinion you give a shit about. He should have abolished Blues Monday in his speech right after taking the guidon. He should have ripped off that hideous drum-major uniform like Hulk Hogan shredding a yellow tank top to display the flightsuit beneath. THAT would have been leadership.
  2. I had not considered that. I'll hold my grumbling in abeyance until Corona is complete.
  3. Abolishing Blues Monday wouldn't interfere with his busy schedule. Typing and sending that email would take all of 20 seconds. Symbols matter. My generation of pilots is waiting for a signal that the next few years won't be a constant downward spiral like the last few have been. This could be it. Pilot morale matters, see the ACP thread for what happens when it slides. Also, not taking Blues on TDYs would save a few million on excess baggage fees, just throwing that out there. So there's your "un-assing our budget".
  4. Holy Shit. The bullet with the other guy's name engraved on it; that's fucked up. I thought only Officer's Spouse Club got to that level of crazy.
  5. I've hit a couple in my car and been very lucky that they simply disintegrated. I didn't realize these things were an actual threat.
  6. Best quote from the comments: Do you get paid in environment or dollars? That's funny, I don't care who you are.
  7. Well played sir, well played. I'm adding "have UCMJ issues" to the repertoire.
  8. Like ... a fucking GUNSHOT WOUND TO THE LEG. Follow this logic: 1. Scared of getting shot in Afghanistan 2. Have spouse shoot me so I won't go to Afghanistan 3. ? 4. Profit
  9. It's still a bad idea. There is now more stuff that can go wrong. I don't think I ever saw a code 3 window in the back of a 135. This is a classic example of ignoring the principle of "if it's not broke, don't fix it".
  10. I'd say there is an equal chance that this is generic adolescent buffoonery or someone wasn't ready for finals and made a very bad decision on how to give themselves some extra study time.
  11. I think we can all agree that if a grown man is beaten up by a 3rd grade girl, then he had it coming.
  12. The cash back and airline miles are all well and good, but the real benefit to credit cards is the fraud protection. Dispute a wrongful charge with AMEX or Visa and that bitch disappears. Good luck trying to get your money back with your debit card. I learned this the hard way with autobill pay. Also, free insurance on rental cars is nice.
  13. With all due respect, I think you've evaluated your threats incorrectly. Nothing is pilot proof. I once had a friend short Code 3 a MFD when he spilled a Diet Coke on it.
  14. That's all well and good except the conspiracy theorists would have gone full retard. Also, the President would be accused of delaying the announcement for his own advantage since there is an election coming up. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
  15. I loved this part from the WTC article: While WTCP wants $8.4 billion to cover damages, Judge Alvin Hellerstein has limited the amount to the $2.805 billion paid for the leases. In their defense, the airlines say they should not go to trial because WTCP has recovered $4.091 billion from insurance companies. However, Judge Hellerstein has said that at this time he cannot reasonably determine the insurance money covered the damages. Apparently you can be a judge and not know that 4 > 3.
  16. Honestly, how hard is it to make E-6 by the 15 year mark? Shouldn't your average E-5 at that point have a bunch of firewall 5 EPRS, have 14 years TIS and 8-9 years TIG? They should be rolling in to the test with at least 210* points of the approximately 320 pts normally needed for promotion. They need to average a 55 on the 2 tests to get promoted. Even those who are "bad test takers" should be able to pull off that strenuous feat of adequacy. *( 2 points per year Time in Service = 28, Medals = 5, 0.5 pts per month of Time in Grade x 8 years = 48, EPRs = 130+).
  17. Well, if we all get the mass email that says "no looking at classified stuff because you don't have the proper clearance/need to know, even though it's all over the internet" we'll know for sure.
  18. I recall my 2nd day in Afghanistan, trying to find the chow hall with several others. We stopped and looked at each other: every one of us in PT uniform, reflective belt, DCU pattern boonie hat, pistol and holster. We all laughed at the ridiculousness of our appearance and then carried on. Noone is upset that they look ridiculous. What does grate is that: A. There are people dumb enough to actually give a shit about minor uniform infractions in a war zone B. There are a disturbing number of these buffoons in positions of actual responsibility
  19. How does she not have the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, which unofficially requires 250 hours of work? Hell, she should have 5 OLCs on that thing.
