Meh. This falls under the civic religion exception, plus the Chaplain needs OPR bullets too. Invocations are as much ritual as religion, and as long as it's reasonably nondenominational it shouldn't be a big deal. We lost a dude in T-1s. Couldn't land the thing, which isn't that hard to land. He was the only one I knew about in my 2 years at Vance. We've got a couple of UPT washouts in my current squadron (MQ-9s) and they're doing well. To bring this back on topic, nether of them were SIEs.

International dudes can wash out? We started with one in UPT and it was like this guy knew the Contra code for 99 lives only for 89 rides instead. This guy hooked tests, showed up to events visibly hungover, had the worst attitude I've ever seen, went home to the desert for 2 MONTHS in the middle of UPT for his arranged marriage, and supposedly rolled a T-38 in the traffic pattern. Apparently being an Arab prince has its perks.

Slightly off topic: Does anyone here have experience flying with the Border Patrol? Is it a good deal or a shit sandwich? Any first hand info (benefits, culture, locations, how much flying versus how much queep) would be greatly appreciated. I'm currently an MQ-9 guy leaning very strongly towards getting out in a few years and am considering Border Patrol as an option.

Isn't this one more reason to not go to USAFA? I know so many people who went there and all but one of them either regret it or find it was only worth putting up with for the pilot slot.
