  1. Is it just me or did noone have these allergies 25-30 years ago? I remember literally everone eating PBJs when I was a kid. Then it started with milk and peanuts. Once I met some poor bastard who was allergic to pen ink.
  2. You're forgetting the Creech dudes have a minimum 1.5 hour commute daily, assuming they live on the north edge of Vegas and aren't driving 100 mph. And you're forgetting the shift work. I have shit I need to get done, but I'm working from about the time the national anthem starts and leaving before reveille. And I can't get my stuff done because I need to talk to people who work during the hours that normal human beings work. So everything takes an extra 24-96 hours because email is the only reasonable method of communication. It's like how people used to play games of chess by mail. Also, morale is terrible and that never helps. I used to be a mobility guy, and I worked the crazy hours but I had the energy to do so because I loved what I was doing. That is no longer the case for most of the pilots in my squadron.
  3. I read this and laughed almost until I cried. I remember being warned about the bad side of Altus ...
  4. I bet if you added up the number of people who leave the military after their intial enlistment/commitment plus the number of people retiring it's probably pretty close to 200,000 a year. As long as we don't do something stupid, like drive the economy off a fiscal cliff, everything should be fine.
  5. So Syrian Air Force Jets bombed a septic tank? Because that's what this sounds like.
  6. Plan B: Don't fly into Mr. Peanut's WEZ. Go to AFROTC, eat whatever you want, go to UPT, get the exact same wings as everyone else.
  7. Easy fix. Make OPRs 3 lines instead of 10. 1 bullet apiece for AFSC specific stuff, 1 for position stuff, 1 push line. Make an AFSC specific test like the E's have, and put the score in all the newly available white space. Problem solved.
  8. I graduated OTS in 2006. A guy in my flight was in your situation. Even though his wife was scheduled to induce the birth on a weekend; they would not let him leave, even though he would have left after class on Friday and returned in time for class on Monday. YMMV.
  9. So glad I don't work there anymore. And yes, avoiding your countrymen seems to be the best way of staying out of trouble, unfortunately.
  10. More importantly, those incapable of doing so have the chance to demonstrate that they cannot.
  11. A little off topic, but here goes: Does anyone know if Big Blue can hold me until the end of my ADSC if they pass me over twice for major? I think I've got about a 0.69% chance of getting promoted and want/need to start planning now. My ADSC runs until late 2018 and my 2nd look at Major would be in 2015 (unless they shift that board to the right 9 months too). I called AFPC and they could not give me a 100% answer.
  12. FML Prime is still valid.
  13. Saves the taxpayers from paying for two investigations. I raise my drink to the 4th estate.
  14. There's more than one to pick from, of course there is a drop. And make sure to do well so those of us nonvolled into this business can go back to doing what we actually signed up to do.
  15. Pope of Pocorn, Lord Protector of the Snackbar.
  16. Easy fix. Make squadrons reimburse servicemembers for excess leave whenever they PCS with more than 60 days accrued. Don't fund squadrons for said leave reimbursement. Bosses will start liking alot more leave plans.
  17. Don't forget to hold the TALON 0.69 inches from your nose. The trick of course was that you were always allowed to hydrate. I did alot of pretending to drink from an empty canteen whenever I needed to stretch/scratch an itch.
  18. NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. I almost pissed myself laughing when I got to O-4 on that chart.
  20. I wish someone had told me that sentence before I started UPT.
  21. As long as you don't say that three times in a row ...
  22. I'd guess lack of turnover. No matter how bad you piss off your boss on active duty, one or both of you will be gone in a year or two. In a different situation, the incentives to keep quiet about buffoonery are stronger because you have nowhere to go.
  23. I believe you will be getting $53.25 a night.
