Track Selects and Assignment Nights
One of our guys (prior C17s) is one of two alternates for the crossflow. Word is 4 MAF dudes were selected as primaries and 2 alternates.

Track Selects and Assignment Nights
-38 studs don't know what's available or where they truly rank in the class. If they're lucky and have a flt/cc that cares they'll get midterm feedback or something along those lines and be told what third of the class they're in, if they're lucky. I've never heard a solid reason for why it's such a secret about where SPs rank or what's on the table for the drop.

Track Selects and Assignment Nights
Considering -38 squadrons at UPT (in my neck of the woods at least) are only allowed to be 25% fighter manned max, so any fighter experience is usually greatly appreciated.

Track Selects and Assignment Nights
The last 2 non-vols to -38 guys at END went to heavies. The last dude non vol'd to fighters seemed good with it afterwards.

Changing/Switching airframes
Your assertion that graduating a Saudi is equivalent to proving anyone can be taught to fly a fighter is invalid. Also, the heavy guys that have come back as - 38 instructors are below average so your statement about it not mattering after 4 years of c17 is also invalid. There are 1 or 2 mc12 guys that are decent so I'll give you that.

Changing/Switching airframes
We don't fly fighters in upt.

What's wrong with the Air Force?
Yes. You're not allowed to roll your sleeves up because it's "not in the AFI" per a certain inspection team at a certain UPT base...

Vance OG/CC bans alcohol
You mean the part where he didn't punish the studs and take away from their track select for mistakes made by IPs?

Vance OG/CC bans alcohol
There's already an AADD service. What does having one of those do? Nothing. If someone is too drunk to make the smart decision not to drive they're not going to make a smart decision to call a DD service. I completely understand your second point and have seen the same thing from other people when put in charge. This guy has went to bat for people that he didn't have to since he's been the OG, which is why I don't think he's one of those people. Ever called BS to your boss and been told to STFU and color? I'm not saying that's what happened because I don't know, and no one that's posted on here knows the full story.

Vance OG/CC bans alcohol
This guy is a class act. He's one of the few leaders in the AF actually worth following. I know several people that he's went to bat for. He gets it. I think it's more of a situation where someone on high got involved and "highly suggested" alcohol be temporarily banned after a few made some bad decisions. Spears welcome.

Track Selects and Assignment Nights
38 dudes aren't flying 7 days a week. Woodring is generally only used as a divert if the center rwy shuts down for some reason (outside rwy still under construction..) Once in a while it's used to launch/recover XCs that won't fit into the XC dep/rec window. Also, Vance only opened up for Saturday flying a few weeks ago. Not a constant thing.

Track Selects and Assignment Nights
There have been a few instances of this. One of them was the #1 guy. The others were towards the bottom (and were non-vol'd to -38s). Non fighters were requested for them. Also, it apparently looks bad if studs fail out of IFF or DOR, so I don't think you're going to find many that get non vol'd to fighters. Different bases might do things differently though.

Best Route to UPT
OTS Route: I submitted my application for a pilot slot senior year of college. I took the AFOQT/TBAS, submitted 3 letters of recommendation, met with a Lt Col for an hour to talk about why I wanted to join the AF and spent an invigorating day at MEPs. I started OTS shortly after graduation. Pros: I wasn't doing PT at 5a.m. I was sleeping. I competed based on my scores, letters of recommendation, and the recommendation of the Lt Col that interviewed me. I didn't have to play ROTC politics etc. I entered AD on my terms, with a pilot slot in hand and no commitment until I finished OTS. Cons: OTS fills the pilot slots not filled by the Academy or ROTC, so not everyone gets picked up the first time if there aren't any slots left over (sts), and you can only apply so many times. My school wasn't paid for. I'm sure others on here can point out more pros/cons but those were the big ones from my perspective. I know plenty of guys that did ROTC and loved it.

Track Selects and Assignment Nights
You must think AFPC and big blue dole out assignments based on merit and effort put forth in the job. If that were the case maybe people wouldn't be climbing over each other for the door. That's a great way to look at it. No need to fix the issues that are driving the mass exodus when you can fill cockpits with any stud with a pulse because you can "lock them in" for longer than you can a FAIP.

Track Selects and Assignment Nights
He wasn't a FAIP, and there was an IFF tour in there somewhere, but the rest is spot on.
