  1. Valid. They're not supposed to be dropping any direct from UPT. No changes for studs to be adding them to dream sheets, yet. AF dudes flying the growler won't be boat qual'd. Leadership had a sit down with the -38 studs at END today and told them oprah is all out of vipers and to expect increased "opportunities" to fly other aircraft, but to not expect any MAF assets to drop. Basically, studs actually have to work hard to earn a fighter now.
  2. If leadership at UPT bases are approving pvc patches you're good. If they can make it through that legalistic nightmare I think it's safe to wear them.
  3. Ha. That's comical.
  4. I'm guessing vipers..
  5. Cue the MAF v. CAF dick measuring contest..3..2.. "We all could have made it in fighters, my T6 flt/cc screwed me over. (sts).. "
  6. Yep.
  7. One of our guys (prior C17s) is one of two alternates for the crossflow. Word is 4 MAF dudes were selected as primaries and 2 alternates.
  8. -38 studs don't know what's available or where they truly rank in the class. If they're lucky and have a flt/cc that cares they'll get midterm feedback or something along those lines and be told what third of the class they're in, if they're lucky. I've never heard a solid reason for why it's such a secret about where SPs rank or what's on the table for the drop.
  9. Considering -38 squadrons at UPT (in my neck of the woods at least) are only allowed to be 25% fighter manned max, so any fighter experience is usually greatly appreciated.
  10. The last 2 non-vols to -38 guys at END went to heavies. The last dude non vol'd to fighters seemed good with it afterwards.
  11. -38s x2 C-17 Charleston
  12. Anyone here attend the meeting with HAF A3 at Randolph this week?
  13. He trolls everyone for two years and is now trolling everyone about being a troll..

Your assertion that graduating a Saudi is equivalent to proving anyone can be taught to fly a fighter is invalid. Also, the heavy guys that have come back as - 38 instructors are below average so your statement about it not mattering after 4 years of c17 is also invalid. There are 1 or 2 mc12 guys that are decent so I'll give you that.

We don't fly fighters in upt.
  16. Yes. You're not allowed to roll your sleeves up because it's "not in the AFI" per a certain inspection team at a certain UPT base...
  17. Dude, this is a great time to not pass up the opportunity...

  19. You mean the part where he didn't punish the studs and take away from their track select for mistakes made by IPs?
  20. There's already an AADD service. What does having one of those do? Nothing. If someone is too drunk to make the smart decision not to drive they're not going to make a smart decision to call a DD service. I completely understand your second point and have seen the same thing from other people when put in charge. This guy has went to bat for people that he didn't have to since he's been the OG, which is why I don't think he's one of those people. Ever called BS to your boss and been told to STFU and color? I'm not saying that's what happened because I don't know, and no one that's posted on here knows the full story.
  21. This guy is a class act. He's one of the few leaders in the AF actually worth following. I know several people that he's went to bat for. He gets it. I think it's more of a situation where someone on high got involved and "highly suggested" alcohol be temporarily banned after a few made some bad decisions. Spears welcome.
  22. The T-1 is 500K? Wow.
  23. 38 dudes aren't flying 7 days a week. Woodring is generally only used as a divert if the center rwy shuts down for some reason (outside rwy still under construction..) Once in a while it's used to launch/recover XCs that won't fit into the XC dep/rec window. Also, Vance only opened up for Saturday flying a few weeks ago. Not a constant thing.
  24. People at Vance have received similar emails.
  25. There have been a few instances of this. One of them was the #1 guy. The others were towards the bottom (and were non-vol'd to -38s). Non fighters were requested for them. Also, it apparently looks bad if studs fail out of IFF or DOR, so I don't think you're going to find many that get non vol'd to fighters. Different bases might do things differently though.
