  1. How in the hell did you find this? I don't know what is worse...the concept or the fact I watched the video.
  2. I have loans through Sallie Mae and when I EAD'd in 2007 I filled my SCRA claim. They were pretty good about it until two years later when my interest rate shot up to 11%. I called and they stated I needed to re-validate I was in fact on AD. I was deployed at the time and had a hard time contacting them due to the interference of all the reflective belts. I just sent them the letter I sent them in 2007 with a copy of my EAD orders and highlighted the section that stated my orders were of an indefinite timeframe. They stated they got all of the info and would process my claim once they received a letter from my SQ/CC. I once again told them I was deployed and I did not have access to my SQ/CC. Sure, I could have talked to the deployed CC, but I figured a letter signed by me plus my orders would do the trick. After a month or so, they dropped my interest rate back to 6% and refunded me the $69 of interest incurred when they bumped it up to 11%. I haven't had any issues since then.
  3. Necessary because of sweat and because the jet is so fvcking hot inside. They are now using thermal curtains to keep the cockpit cool, but that only helps until engine start.
  4. Yes, a number of -135 guys do, but that number is decreasing. The only exception is the sandbox where gloves are necessary.
  5. Sure, the AF will realize a reasonable amount of savings by ditching paper FLIP in printing costs and not having to haul a 69 pound FLIP kit. The real savings comes from shipping a metric shit-ton of FLIP every month or two. I was talking to a Crew COMM guy when the last shipment arrived and it weighed around 4,000 pounds and was shipped two-day UPS. My iPhone cost $69 for two-day UPS, I can't imagine how much 4,000 pounds cost. Fuel is expensive, but so is UPS. While I am not a fan of FLIP on an iPad and would prefer old-school paper FLIP, I would support going to electronic FLIP, etc to keep more of our jets in the air and more of our bros in Big Blue.
  6. That would involve being a real warrior. Too dangerous.
  7. "Chemistry was different than normal" and "We were all on the same level." Sounds like they synced up. On a different note, "2" on Whitman's response. I am glad they could put this together, especially because there is only one AD female FE, but the media just turns this into a attention getter instead of just letting the story be what it is.
  8. "2" Surprisingly it was cheaper to finance locally and get homeowner's insurance with a better policy.
  9. "2" on the pilot. It seems there is more to the story based on the fact the pilot had yet to egress and the fire trucks was already there. It has been a few years since I was at Oshkosh, so they may have trucks standing by due to the number of mishaps they seem to have.
  10. Targeting the 15 year types can be dangerous...some of the best mix of experience can be found at that stage of a career.
  11. It is amazing we have had something along the lines of 98 uniform boards even though the AF is 63 years old.
  12. Quite a few Wurtsmith BUFFs still sitting there. The resolution is amazing though, the MI ANG F-4s I watched growing up by KMTC are still sitting there with their kick ass paint job. As a kid I never thought I would see C-model Vipers in the Boneyard. Or the E-model -135s.
  13. I was hoping to get back from the office hoping to hear he got out.
  14. The loss of the Fort is tragic, I hate to see it go. Unfortunately, just like the -17, the Greatest Generation keeps passing as well.
  15. Or the fact that even AMC bubbas are SOL when they are flying out of BFE without .mil access, which is required for the GIANT reports.
  16. Worrying about your career, degree, PME, etc while in UPT/FTU etc is one thing, but a 6-9 second glance at vMPF once every two years won't lead to a busted ride.
  17. CAP SoftSandy would take offense to that statement.
