  1. Heard that about -141 guys, except for when it came time to flare. I've seen a number of O-6s with 3,000+ with one Air Medal and zero Aerial Achievement medals. Did they fly a lot? Yes. But what is more telling is where they were flying.
  2. I would imagine he has little KC-135 time based on when he flew them in his career. He is the anomaly of the post Desert Storm dudes that got to fly something rather than get banked. I knew an old crusty major that flew two types of white jets for about 1.5 years each before he settled down into his MWS. A lot of O-6 types are lacking the hardware of a Post 9-11 AF when they were all Captains and Majors.
  3. Isn't that what Google Chrome's "Incognito Mode" is for?
  4. This, with a minor edit. Back in 2011 AFPC decided the KC-135 was significantly overmanned (I spent 250+ days on the road around that time). Dudes with 2 years and 2 months on station were getting assignments for RPAs. These guys weren't even ACs yet. Your better guys in the squadrons were getting UPT assignments. Your top few guys were fortunate to get another CONUS tanker assignment or ALTUS. To top all of this, OUP kicks off in 2012. Because we were "so overmanned" we had people do 77 day deployments to AFCENT, go home for a couple of weeks, deploy for OUP for 77 days, and then get a couple of weeks at home. After two weeks...back to AFCENT. Every community is hurting right now, and it isn't getting any better.
  5. WTF is a Cadet sight picture?
  6. The MAF doesn't value flying like they should (reference the post that states flying is the #18 priority on a Wing slide-show). Most of the cross-flow guys are good dudes, but the problem is they show up to the unit as a new AC in their new MAF airframe, fly for awhile, and do an in-house IP upgrade. Their office jobs don't allow them to focus on the in-house IP upgrade. After they become IPs, the office doesn't let them fly enough to be proficient instructors. With that being said, I am sick and tired of the heavy versus fighter argument...and the C-17 jokes are getting old. It doesn't matter what the fvck you fly, fly your damn jet and hack the mission. Like Hoss said, "what happens to guys that wash out of a fighter FTU?" They go heavies. Get over it. Granted, some dudes may have had issues in UPT and that they are now crushing their current MWS, but overall the UPT system seems to work well. Timing and luck are definite players in what you drop out of UPT, but tracking -38s and graduating at the top of the class definitely increases your chances. Now, I'll go back to flying my KC-135 auto-pilot off, into the sun driving directly towards my receiver while shark-finning the tail in IMC.
  7. I completely forgot about that read file. Thought it was a joke the first time I read it.
  8. I'd definitely talk to the Security Manager first before bringing in a watch into a SCIF that has the capability to receive a GPS signal.
  9. I still am not fully convinced everything is going to work out as fragged...
  10. This. I had a stack in my locker at UPT pre-filed out for the weekends I drove to see the wife when she was stationed at Robins. My Flt/CC just told me to turn the form in before I left for the weekend. Never spoke to him once about it, but the 29B was on-file.
  11. My previous and current ARS cooks it up. Edit: Spelling
  12. It has been that way since at least 2011. McConnell tanker guys deployed to CENTCOM for 2 months, home for a week or two, and deployed to LEMO for OUP. After 2 or 3 months there, they were home for a couple weeks and back to CENTCOM for another 2 month deployment. The 1:1 dwell was never violated...
  13. Dudes, KIO. This is fvcking stupid. The potential cut in capability is going to felt by everyone, regardless of the airframe.
  14. Nope. It is the gift that keeps giving.
  15. I was rolling in for mutual support and I realize the work the ANG/AFRC reserve types put in to get a slot. The last half of my post was sarcasm. Regardless, UPT is a riot. Enjoy it, there is plenty of time for Go Pros after the days of formal release and standup.
  16. Check his location. KYNG, guessing that makes him a Youngstown guy. If that is the case I really hope he earns his Reserve slot.
  17. Alright, I looked for further references. What is the definition of "appointed?" Example, commissioned in April and EAD'd in May. BTW, when I in-processed my DOR was initially half-way between commissioning and EAD (which was still before USAFA graduated), but it was adjusted to my commissioning date a few months afterwards. I also received an automated e-mail informing me of my DOR change as well as a notification stating my Reserve ROTC commission was now a Regular commission. Which I think happened to everyone after 2005ish. Perhaps DoD 1310.01 pre-2013 read differently.
  18. Great IPA! Highly recommend Delirium Tremens. Difficult to find, but worth the work to get it. http://www.deliriumbeer.com
  19. Right. What is the problem of keeping your original DOR If you were a ROTC grad that was on AD for 2-3 weeks as a 2d Lt before the USAFA guys graduated? You were a 2d Lt when they were still cadets and should keep your original DOR and not a halfway date the MPF draws from the lottery.
