  1. I just bought the shirt from AAFES and took it to a local tailor (that the entire base uses) to get it fitted. She did a phenomenal job, and it turned out much better than any slim-fits out there and in the end was still about $15-20 cheaper.
  2. Oh yeah, definitely a great idea! Especially if someone from Shell Ops gives the brief. Cash money.
  3. "2" I did a Manas deployment followed by one at the Deid and it was a night and day difference.
  4. I put my IFS time in my civilian logbook but UPT and onward was all in a military-time only logbook. I also have an electronic logbook that I log all of my time.
  5. I gathered that, I guess I just don't see the humor in it.
  6. This thread is amazing! Great work by all It never ceases to amaze me how great the Greatest Generation really was. It is too bad there are so many emo pussies out there. Imagine today the country asking a large percentage of fresh high school graduates to drop everything and fight a war. While there are truly brave kids out there who have answered the call, it is too bad there is such a growing movement to denounce those brave kids back home.
  7. Don't some tails have TCAS while the others are still rocking out that awesome paper-weight called NACWS?
  8. This will probably not be a popular post but here it goes. My wife is a Comm Officer who hates the base network probably more than we do. She also, along with a lot of other 33S types I am friends with hate the network, hate the software, get infuriated with the 45-75MB e-mail limit, CAC certificates, Office .pst files that stop working or get deleted, and feel that the AF can do a much better job, and above all, they all hate the Comm Focal Point. It is frustrating to try and do all of your mission planning only to be locked out of the network and then get the run around from the Comm Focal Point. Now, imagine being a Comm bubba and not getting any help from the Comm Focal Point. It happens. The problem with the AF is they approve all of this software to run on the machines/network but they don't test to see that all of this software is compatible with one another. There has been a ton of money lost on contracts for comm support, software, etc because of this "oversight." In regards to the Cyber Wings, well, I am not a fan. And like Zach Braff wrote, this wasn't a popular topic for the 33S as well. While there are 33S that wish they were operators like any other non-rated types, the majority of the 33S I know are fighting to stay 33S and avoid getting sucked into the 17D fold. I guess in the end it doesn't matter anyway. People way over their pay-grades made the decision, and 99% of my non-rated bros are pulling the handle the first chance they get anyway.
  9. I'm an 07 guy and it was pretty much the same for my year group. It all started sophomore year, in the fall semester the AF was willing to finish paying out scholarships and stipends for the remainder of the year if people voluntarily left ROTC. Most didn't. Dudes weren't getting Field Training slots, a lot of guys were booted from FT. Starting about half-way through my junior year they were offering programs to commission directly into the Guard or Reserve. The only catch was you had to find a unit to hire you and if I remember right dudes who were picked up for rated slots were exempt. I am not sure if Big Blue was able to reduce enough or not.
  10. Here's the thing, I will do everything I can to make sure my receivers get their gas. A lot of times in the AOR the controllers won't clear us out of the airspace to grab the receivers, now with that being said I try to find out what killbox they are working and stay as close as I can to that killbox without running into other adjacent tracks or the air routes running along the tracks. However, I do agree that tanker crews need to get more directive with the controllers. For example one night we were giving a shit ton of gas to a Bone and he could only take one A/R pump without spraying gas all over the place and any turn would make it worse. We just got on the radio and said we need to track current heading for receiver consideration. They were cool with it after a bit of explaining.
  11. That video never gets old. Gotta love the closed captioning.
  12. I think this has been covered before, but here's the short and skinny. As a Co you can get a type rating in the 707/720 for SEC Duties only, just like John Travolta. Honestly, save yourself $85 and wait until you get 10 hours as an AC. Getting 10 hours as the A Code won't take all that long. However, with that being said, call around. I have seen FSDOs surprise people. Just be willing to backup your type ratings in the future if necessary.
  13. Yeah, it is weird that alcohol was not involved but they are looking at filing charges.
  14. Yeah, This has been brought up on a couple different threads. Force Shaping/Downsizing Force Shaping-VSP It is the ultimate AFSO21 policy. Do more with less. My wife and other non-rated co-workers got the e-mail from AFPC a little while back. And not surprisingly a lot of people that qualify are seriously thinking about punching. I can't say I really blame them. I know Ops guys are gone a lot but some of the non-rated O's are gone a lot too and seem to have less job satisfaction. Unless your AFSC is reflective belt Nazi, those guys are getting bonuses to stay in. EDITED FOR SPELLING
  15. Where is CAP Soft Sandy at? A gleaming example of the excellence that the Smembers exude.
  16. I can't believe I watched that. BTW Doc, nice tube socks.
  17. I was a junior in high school. Someone said a plane hit the first tower, so we turned the tv on and about a minute later the second airplane hit. I was fvcking pissed. We kept going to class as normal but no one was teaching anything, we were all just watching the news. Around 1pm our dbag of a principal came over the PA to tell all the teachers to turn off the tvs to "protect the students." My teacher reached for the tv and I am pretty sure I said fvck when I told her to leave the tv on. She did. What really pissed me off was when the local news stations interviewed the "residents" of Dearborn some of them openly admitted they were glad it happened. As I was driving down my buddy's street in my 1986 Dodge Ram I saw a AFRC KC-135E and two Guard Vipers on either wing overhead at around 3000' AGL heading out of MTC. I will never forget that day.
  18. "2" I don't see these guys being rehabilitated anytime soon. Where is Pershing when you need him?
  19. Alright, the Alpena Wallyworld leaves a lot to be desired, but that is standard for any WM. With that said, up north Michigan is bad ass. It's too bad so many guys on this board only see the CRTC during OREs/ORIs. The area has a lot to offer.
  20. When I was at CBM there was a shooting in the Wallyworld parking lot. Some kid shot up a couple cops cars, and then was driving around Hwy-45 being chased by the cops. All the CBM Gate Guards were wearing kevlar and my FLT/CC called every single one of us telling us to stay on base, and if we were off base, to get far away from CBM.
  21. Or you can just disregard "worrying about" DGing out of ROTC and bust your ass to get what you want without trying to fvck over your bros. I would rather do good in ROTC and have a great time doing it as opposed to DGing and not having any friends the entire time and having the reputation as being that guy as a new 2d Lt. Believe me, it will follow you onto Active Duty.
