  2. The guy gets a bad rap from SERE guys who dedicate their entire careers to figuring out how they're going to evade. Sounds like he may have had a bad reputation in his F-16 community, but whenever someone talks about all the things this guy screwed up during his evasion and rescue I just remind myself that he never got caught and returned more or less safe. More than a lot of guys can say.

  4. Having lost many a friend, had several as Hilton members, and had a few that were fortunate enough to evade and escape (one twice). Now losing them to time, and now that I am getting older and grayer, I am less inclined to pass judgement. As I would have 40+ years ago before many of you were born. Just happy to be here. 6. 2! I was at recurrent sim training 4 hrs from home when the specialist called to say my test results were back and I needed to come in to the office. I had to drag the Dx out of her over the phone...spent a few minutes in disbelief and shock...then called my wife first, then my Flt doc. Flt doc said I was instantly DNIF, but call her back in an hour. An hour later, from the road, I called and she had the surgeons and oncologists appts set up for me for the next day! She also started my waiver package and continued working on it after she deployed. Long story short: no MEB, waiver approved in minimum time: day 2 to approval: 5.69 months. Flt docs are your friend...they want you to 1) live a long time, 2) serve your country in your chosen profession, 3) fly cool jets...in that order.

  7. There are certain things that come along with this job that are not advertised, but must be taken into consideration. You WILL be spending substantial time away from your family, and will not always be there when you're needed. In emergency circumstances you can take leave, but if you're the primary person your family counts on in tough times, perhaps this job isn't for you. You won't be in this job forever. You and the AF will eventually part ways, and it's important you ensure your family doesn't part ways with you first. Some people lose sight of that and allow this job to consume them. They don't realize it until it's too late.

  8. Holy f@cking quibbling! Shut that shit up dude, no one cares about the details of why you can't do well in easy classes. Figure it out and do better. Honestly, if you can't apply yourself enough to get a 3.0 in an easy college program, you're either too dumb or too lazy for pilot training. I'm no genius but I graduated with honors with a Mechanical Engineering degree because I worked my ass of when I had to. I also drank every weekend with the bros. Figure it out.

  9. Maybe you need to drink more? If you find gen eds hard and public speaking hard how are you going to do in UPT doing EP standups?

  10. Maybe at your base, but that incident was the driving factor AETC-wide and the only reason at END.

  11. Big Blue simply does not care about properly developing and maintaining its Pol-Mil capabilities. 1. No FAO track (as opposed to USN/USA) 2. RAS/PAS must return to original AFSC or risk getting passed over 3. No APAC HANDS (as opposed to USN/USA), another CJCS-directed program, because we have RAS/PAS already (bogus reason) 4. Lack of communication/coordination between LEAP/AFCLC and SAF/IA AFPAK HANDS are supposed to be on the O-6 track, but there stories of them being out-stratted by some AF GO's exec/aide.
