  1. The ranting is aimed at big-boy-shoe-clerk-waiver-authority-my-butt.. So we have to ask ourselves a question which of these realities we are living in... #1 ) The AF is completely overmanned with brand new Lt's going to Capt, so that even though we just threw half a million bucks at them in training, we somehow need to boot them out (non-select competent dudes). If this is the case, then some wienies at AFPC need to get their asses thrown out of the USAF for being idiots. I'm sick of the government mentality that if you make a mistake like dealing with manning, that you can just shrug your shoulders and go on to your next assignment screwing things up. Why does this new Lt have to suffer, but the dudes who CAUSE the mistake get nothing, if not promoted and pushed on their career paths... OR (more likely) #2) The USAF is stupid, and put no damn weight as to what resources were poured into a Lt to get them to that board. I.e. they racked and stacked dudes who had 2 weeks of surf-board wax-training and stellar CGO involvement ahead of guys who just went through a year of casual (not their fault), a year of UNT/UPT and then 6 months FTU. They played the typical PC card and said they would rather have the 'better' (in their view) officer, no matter what the job. The seem to forget that if we have all surf-board waxers and nobody flying the jet, that we won't have any more ice cream cones to self-lick. Guess what big blue - I'd rather have any average or even MEDIOCRE flyer than some rando from FSS who can't bother to stay past 1500. Idiot's forgot what the mission IS here...and big clue bird dummy, it's not stapling the chiefs EPR's and sprucing up powerpoints until you 'just get it right' all day long. It's hauling iron, pushing lines, giving gas, putting weapons on targets, deterring the enemy, making them look over their shoulder - and none of that originates from the shoe clerk arena. Sure, you need it - but there's a reason it's called SUPPORT. Hell, how many additional jobs do we take on in the squadron as the years go on...finance, CSS, travel? So if somehow I can be told I have to do everyone else's job, how the hell is it suddenly their jobs are so important as to take a dude OUT OF MY SQUADRON!!!! Are you KIDDING ME!!!!???? **RANT***

  3. He's not a troll. His opinion is exactly that of many senior leaders I've met. I'm actually glad he's posting so people can see the kind of mentally retarded logic prevalent in the senior ranks. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this guy was an 05 or 06 stuffed away somewhere in HQ. it's important to understand where he is coming from, not because I care what they tell me to wear or any of these queep issues he's addressing, but because this same logic is used against operators on actual missions. When I see guys frustrated that senior leaders are exerting micro control over tactical weaponeering solutions and preventing best results due entirely to their own personal incompetence and ignoranceI say "decide now if you can stomach this bullshit for more than your commitment, because they don't even trust you to dress yourself in your own free time." Case in point- this asshole. Personally, i still think the service is worth putting up with these types. I love my job and think its worthy of my best effort. Plus I get to be around, for the most part, some really great people. But I frequently see good guys frustrated by leaders who are just as blatantly idiotic as this one.

  4. 3 main points. 1. Don't feed the troll. 2. sweet I'm SOF: Lets assume you are actually are in some command position. If this is true I have 3 things to say; 1) Thank god im not in your unit and I feel sorry for the people in your command. 2) If you spent a little less time on a pointless internet forum and more time focused on your people or "doing the mission" you keep saying then maybe the AF would be a slightly better organization; but given your communication skills and rationale I seriously doubt it. 3) Just because a dude is retired doesn't mean he doesn't have a wealth of knowledge to share. 3. I just fed the troll. ######.

  5. For someone doing a lot of preaching about leadership, this is piss poor leadership logic. You don't have to draw an imaginary line 10 feet back so that folks don't cross the actual line.

  6. Everybody wants to pretend to be 'operators'. This is the "Navy SEALS" of our generation, unfortunately. But, hey -- I'm sure inside a prison, there is lots of need for OD green uniforms and no-button-on-top hats (for the ear-pro, right?) with IR American flags on them. Lots of need for 'warriors' there.

  9. His lack of reading comprehension and common sense strongly point to him being a mid to high-level manager in our Air Force. Or a USAFA cadet. Could go either way I guess.

  10. Just finished Blind Man's Bluff - about US Submarine intelligence operations during the cold war. Recovering missiles off the bottom of the ocean, recording soviet communication lines etc... Worthwhile read.

  11. Never met the guy, but if he's still got a hair on his old fighter pilot ass, he'd throw up on me if I looked him in the eye and called him "sweet and charming". Not sure what your background is, but you lose any credibility you have with this statement..."trashing the reputation of one of this nation's last living heroes." You obviously have NO idea what you are talking about because our nation is blessed with thousands of living heroes, most of them under the age of 30 (many under 20). They are fighting in places you've probably never heard of, and are performing acts of heroism that make breaking the sound barrier seem kind of boring. But thanks for the lecture.
