Come on guys.... Are you really implying that pointy-nose types don't give a shit about the American flag because they do not wear it on their uniform? Face it - MAF and CAF are not the same. Yes, we all fly for God & country and all that... but does it really matter? MAF dudes wear the flag. Cool. CAF dude's don't. So what? There are a lot more things that we do differently, too. I'll go out on a limb and say I'm sure that we could all become better by exchanging some more plays out of our respective books. But a patch? Come on.... Quit feeding the trolls on this one, boys. You make us all look silly. And, in the end, shouldn't this thread be about bashing shoe clerks and their mindless changes to uniform regulations while we are out there hacking the mish?

So sick of this shit. All of these little rules should be reserved as extra critiques for those who completely suck at their job as a last, "gotcha bitch!" I'm so tired of all of these non-CAF people with their infinite time not helping "customers" enforcing rules that don't matter to make them feel like they are actually playing military. I wish we could point fingers only at non-ops though. A few years ago at the Deid we had a first sergeant who was given free reign by the expeditionary sq/cc. Most of the ACs got together to talk to the CC about how this shirt was disrespectfully correcting officers in public about stupid things, like wearing sunglasses in the caddy. The CC said he didn't want to hear about it and to consider whatever the shirt says as his (the CC's) own word. If we didn't the shirt would tell him and take his side. FAIL! Perfect example of how not to lead, especially downrange.

This is the attitude that is killing the AF; it's taking a Patton quote and using it to kill mission focus. "If you can't tuck in your shirt, how do I know you'll drop your ordnance on time and on target?" Because one is more important you idiot and most rational people can prioritize. If you can't prioritize whether it's more important to properly wipe your ass versus doing your job in combat then I feel bad for you. And if some airman or NCO tells an officer, "Take your sunglasses off the top of your head," as E-9 Randolph suggests, he should get his ass chewed; what are the chances our officers are aware of their responsibility in that area? The secondary problem with this whole message is that it has no mention of proper time, place, and tone for making any suggested correction and you end up with asshat enlisted troops who think they can tell officers what to do; great situation for military discipline.

I think the flying incompetence has a little more to do with the fact that the AF makes you focus more on PME and AAD rather than flying. Some of those really smart low-flying-time PME/AAD guys need all the additional SA TCAS can provide. Yes, our pilots are becoming a little more lazy and a little too dependent on technology instead of using it as an enhancement tool. It will only get worse as long as we continue to make rated officers focus on the wrong shit at the wrong time. But to stay on point...it isn't about being the best, most competent pilot anymore, but rather making sure you check those PME/AAD boxes so we don't get RIFd and we can make it to retirement before they change it...

Whilst reading the new AFI 36-29-oh.shenanigans. I discovered perhaps this little gem.... 8.5.1.1. Configure Velcro on the Flight Jacket like the FDU/DFDU Which means the pen/pencil pocket should have velcro and doesn't. Stick with me here...and the no morale are authorized in the subsection covering the flight suit pen/pencil pocket(8.3 FDU/DFDU) but flight jackets are in section 8.4... ...and since it says, "If the pen and pencil pocket cover is removed, a morale patch is not authorized on the remaining Velcro." Which the pocket cover wasn't removed but velcro must be added to match the FDU. I submit to you Morale patches authorized on flight jackets (and ignoring the original intention of no moral patches).

I hate to ever say anything bad about the enlisted corps, but someone needs to put these clowns in their place. O-1 > E-9 for a reason. I think the Air Force would be much better off if we just payed sergeants more, but stopped the payscale at E-7.

You can toss the "Technical Expert" term Old Man, shoulda/coulda/woulda been a Warrant. Flyers get pissy with queep shit done or said by Shoes, but will rarely do or act against a disrespectful Enlisted person for fear of getting talked to by a higher ranking Shoe O. I expect Officers period to act like Officers and lead. Confused? Go talk to the USMC, their O's seem understand that ideology, even their flyers. NCO's have better things to do (I.e. making the military run) instead of making uniform corrections you're too to make yourself.
