Hey y'all! my name is Daniel and I'm a Marine Corps veteran currently working on a degree in aerospace at Middle Tennessee State University. Upon graduation I will have the following certificates: Commercial, Multi-Engine Airplane-Land with Instrument Rating as well as CFI/CFII/MEI with around 750-1000 flight hours. I'm looking at doing Air Force Reserve or the Air Guard. I'm not really interested in active duty anymore but I'll do it if I have to. I'm about 5'10, pretty fit with semi-good fitness scores (getting out made me a little lazy) So what are my chances? and what is the first step, and the process, that I need to go throug…

Just got my PCSM score back & finalized some applications. Figured I'd post here for some feedback. I'm a civilian, no prior military experience. PCSM: 74 with 16 flight hours AFOQT: 98 Pilot, 99 Nav. 95 Verbal, 76 Academic, 49 Quantitative GPA: 3.34 I know I hit it out of the park with the AFOQT Pilot & Nav. I don't have a great feel for PCSM--someone told me that above 70 was great. Thoughts? Thanks!

Hello all, Got all my scores back today. Pretty disappointed. Probably going to re-take both AFOQT/TBAS again. My plan was to apply to both reserve units and ANG units. GPA: 2.66 in Marketing AFOQT pilot: 59 PCSM: 63 with 81 hours. Score estimated to be 67 if I can get to 100 flight hours. Recommendations: F15 pilot with confirmed MIG kill who can speak to my airmanship Ret. AF General who can speak to my work ethic Sr. Flight Instructor/owner who can speak to my airmanship/work ethic (I work at the flight school) I know for a fact I can get a better pilot score on the AFOQT. I'm trying to decide if I should just re-take i…

Hello all, I have what may be a somewhat unique situation that I haven't really been able to find an answer for. I separated active duty about two years ago from the Air Force as an O-3. I moved to a state where recreational marijuana is legal and experimented with it twice when on IRR. Later, I started taking flight lessons and saw a Guard UPT board announcement and am considering applying for multiple Guard/Reserve slots in multiple airframes since I am still under the age limit. Would my experimentation disqualify me from a UPT position or a security clearance? I was not on active duty at the time and not taking flight lessons at the time either. For r…

This post probably won't contribute much to anyone but I need to get it off my chest and I'm here... so why not? I joined the Air Force at 19 years old in 2003. After 18 months, I was separated under "Force Shaping Phase II" (I was RIF'd) in 2004 at 20 years old. During those 18 months on AD, I worked on C130H models as a GAC troop and dreamed of one day flying for Big Blue. After my separation, I joined the Air National Guard so I could stay a part of the family and started plugging away at my undergrad degree so I could apply to OTS while thinking, incorrectly, that my time in service would count against my age and that I'd be able to apply to fly after graduating. Supp…

I have near 400 hours but for some reason my pcsm score is coming out as me having zero hours. I called the proctor and she said she would investigate. My score without is 64 and my speculative with 201+ is 97. Has this happened to anyone before? Why do you think my hours are at zero?

Hey all, Looks like I missed the cut on getting an interview with Oregon. So, I figured it's time to post one of these to try and get a better idea of my weaknesses and areas I can improve on. Of all the upcoming (fighter) boards this year, I figured this was one of my better shots of at least getting an interview, so looks like I have a lot of work to do. Any feedback is much appreciated! Scores AFOQT: 98 / 76 / 82 / 65 / 90 PCSM: 98 (will max once I reach 61 hours) Flight Experience PPL (49.5 hours total / earned at 40) FAA 1st Class Medical; No Limitations Aerobatic Experience: MiG-15, L-39, Yak-52, Citabria Work …

Okay, this took me a while to get around to posting, mainly because I feel surrounded by some really smart folks on here. Be brutally honest with me and while I am not using this as an excuse, let me give you some back history on how I ended up where I am today. Back in April, I had ZERO clue people could just apply to the Reserves or ANG to fly with no military flying experience until one of my friends got picked up flying C-130s. That’s when I discovered this form, Bogidope, etc. So fast forward to May, I found a few units I wanted to rush and knew I needed to take the AFOQT and TBAS, but since I wanted to apply, I rushed myself (ill prepared) to take the AFOQT and TBAS…

Hey guys, so I’m 28 years old and currently a first officer at a regional airline. I’ve always wanted to join the Air Force/ANG and was recently on a flight where I met a pilot in the ANG. I think I might make the leap but I’m really nervous about the whole process and have a few questions: 1. I graduated college 6 years ago now and haven’t been in any books, what is the AFOQT like and how hard do I need to study? 2. What is the pay like throughout the entire training process? I’m thinking I would take a pay cut to do this. 3. The pilot I met flew the C-5 and he explained it wasn’t deployable which was great however if I chose a different aircraft (fighter…

Hello all! I have been lurking these forums for awhile but now that I am done with all the major requirements I am wondering what my chances are. As a background, I am currently AD Enlisted and just submitted my application for a Rated/Non-rated slot with Rated being my preference for the 20OT01 OTS board. I am also thinking of applying to the ANG to keep all of my options open. From what I am aware, there is nothing to stop me from applying to both. If I were able to get a pilot slot, my preference would be ANG. What would be my chances for both of these options? AFOQT: Pilot - 87 / Nav - 80 / AA - 72 / Verbal -78 / Quanitative - 61 PCMS: 71 with 22 hours. 91 w…

I was hesitant about posting here because due to my particular background and currently still being AD, it won't be too hard for people in my community to figure out who I am. That was dumb. I'm here to try and climb back in the cockpit, so people figuring out who I am doesn't matter one bit. I'm currently working on setting up applications for ANG Fighter Wings / Squadrons, but am not at all opposed to the Reserves or AD AF. I've tasted fighter life and having it snatched away for not being deemed qualified to land on a boat was a devastatingly humbling experience. It truly reoriented my world, however, through this adversity I've become laser focused and more determin…

Hello all! Longtime lurker looking for some initial feedback on my scores and experience. Now that I finally got my PCSM score back, I'll be shot-gunning my application as soon as possible. What are my chances of getting hired on with a fighter unit? I'm not picky about location or platform as long as I get into a fast mover. -PCSM: 99 -AFOQT: 99/75/77/81/66 -Education: Northern Arizona University B.S. in Computer Science -GPA: 3.22 -Total flight hours: 321 -Ratings: Commercial Pilot SEL, Instrument, Complex and High Performance -LORs: Former F-15C pilot and T-38 instructor, Check Airman at Southwest Airlines, and my flight i…

Hello all, longtime lurker here. I am currently an active duty O-4 looking at applying to UPT for FY21. I'm medical, so I came into the AF as an O-3 and have 5.5 years of active service. I commissioned as part of a scholarship program in 2011, so I know I will need an ETP for TFCSD. I'm rather unhappy in my career but love the military and want to be more operational. My AFOQT scores were 91/99/87/98/65 but my TBAS was an abysmal 33 (0 flight hours). I plan on retaking the TBAS, of course, and working on getting some hours. My main concern is that my rank will affect any future career I would have as a pilot. I just pinned on Maj in Sept '19, but after bei…

Hope that worked and I have some eyes on this post. I’m applying for the active duty July board. I’ve thought about guard/reserve and it isn’t ruled out, but with 7 years in I’m chasing my 20. I’m building what I think is a strong packet...but with one huge red flag. ill start with the bad and end with the good. I attended the navy flight school program. Graduated IFS with no problem....graduated api (for those who don’t know its aviation preflight indoctrination. Basically six classes of aviation like topics done at a rapid pace. Not exactly ground school but it’s similar) but with poor grades and got attrited regardless. The schools director, who attrited me…

Hi everyone, AFOQT Scores: Pilot 99/ Nav 98/ AA 91/ Verbal 89/ Quant 82 PCSM: 95 with 160 flights hours (97 @ 201 hrs) PPL with IR FAA class 1 medical Engineering degree with 3.2 GPA and a background in software engineering I've been rushing guard fighter units for a few years without getting an interview. I am almost 27 and getting closer to waiver range. Do you guys think I should keep rushing ANG units? Or try the active duty route(OTS rated slot)? I don't really care what I fly or where as long as it's something pointy nosed. I understand even if you bust your ass nothing is certain, but I'm thinking I'll do well at UPT bec…

Stats below, originally joined the Navy with a pilot slot and right before OCS graduation I got the "NAMI Whammi" for self diagnosing migraines. Haven't had one in over 10 years. Had a good shot with Reno ANG but COVID fixed their manning issue cancelling the board to which I was applying. Looking to join a unit preferably on the west coast but will probably need 3 waivers- Age, Commissioned service, migraines. Anyone have an idea if I have a shot (pilot or CSO) or should I just stick with the devil I know? Thanks in advance.
