Hello Everyone. I was originally pursuing a pilot slot; however, due to a certain medication that I am on, I am unable to even get past MEPS. I have done everything possible, but I am not ready to accept the risk of quitting the medication right now. With this being the case, I would still like to be involved in any way possible with the military aviation world. In your experience, have there been any civilian positions that work closely with the squadrons or Air Force as a whole? I have a bachelor's degree and a couple of years of professional work experience. However, most of the available civilian jobs I have found on usajobs .com are sim/technical instructo…

Hey everyone, I’m a current regional guy hired by a ANG unit. FC1 completed, approved and standing by for dates. Looks like I’ll be submitted to screen for the Civilian Path to Wings Program. Anyone have information on it? It looks very new and there’s nothing out there. Would it take place at any UPT base or just a select few? Anyone currently in it and knows the timeline from start to finish and what the syllabus consists of? Real excited to get started. Thanks in advance.

Hey all, I'm waiting to be assigned my UPT base and trying to get things in line. My family has a little Cessna 170, and I was wondering if AD members are ever allowed to land/hangar private planes on active bases. I talked to the Ops manager at Hurlburt and he said he had heard of it, can anyone confirm? I would imagine there is some loophole, but I don't have any stars to flex either. Something to do with the flying club on base? Thanks.

I searched for this topic but didn't find much info. Getting ready to graduate and I heard that you can get your instrument and commercial ratings by taking a written test. Is this true? How much extra work would it be to get the CFI rating? I know I probably won't use any of them much in the military, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to have them...

Had an interesting conversation with an IP who has a friend "in the 'know'". This is basically third-hand information, so I apologize in advance if something was lost in translation if you happen to have more detailed intel. He mentioned the Air Force is "considering" standing up a program whereby recently separated military aviators who graduated from Air Force UPT or Naval Primary would be recruited to continue federal service as a civilian T-6 IP? Interestingly enough, he also mentioned that under the auspices of this program, "highly-qualified" civilian accessions 'might' be eligible too. The criteria for direct civilian IP accessions isn't set in stone, but he said t…

So I was on a xc the other day, and the direct route of my flight put me through an MOA. While enroute, I was notified by center that the MOA was active with two aircraft(turned out to be 2 B-1's). So I said copy that, we'll keep an eye out. For me to avoid this MOA it would have been about a 20-25 minute detour to the west or a 15 minute detour around a restricted area to the east, so I figure what the hell, these planes are the sh!t and I'm sure the pilots are profficient enough not to care about a littel POS 172 passing through(perfectly legal) So I decide to keep flying through with eyes open. We see the two B-1's from quite a distance and had them in sight for a…

I'm trying to establish a class bank account for our B-course class. I was wondering if anyone knows about the tax rules regarding such an account. I've already got an EIN number but am worried about tax-exempt status. I realize we can request exemption under 501c (19) status as a veteran's organization, but as the filing fee is 300 BUCKS!! I wanted to see if anyone else has tackled this before. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I posted this question in another area of this forum as well as here: I'm going to UPT later this year, and will most likely be class leader. Are there any past or present UPT students and instructors who have any gouge and advice on how to handle a class? I'd appreciate it. Thanks

With the chance of sounding like a complete moron: What do the numbers mean after the Pilot/Nav training classes? (i.e. Class 0553) I know they signify what class you are in but do they actually have any meaning?

Alright overenthusiastic minds out there, anybody got any interesting ideas for a class patch?

Fellas, Every now and then a HATER emails in some sort of a non-coherent incomprehensible manner. For your enjoyment, check out what our AIR FORCE WARRIORS are doing: -------------------------------------- Comments: Your site includes USAF and AETC symbols which might lead some to believe they are officially sanctioned sites. Request these symbols be removed from the site. Many Air Force or DoD personnel are not aware of their responsibilities under DoD Directive 5230.25, Withholding of Unclassified Technical Data from Public Disclosure, and AFI 33-129, Web Management and Internet Use. For example, a review of T-6A information on the internet indicates some AET…

I apologize, I'm a complete n00b at this. I just can't find my regular dress slacks for some formal meeting tonight (I dunno where the heck it went). I'm wondering if it's against regs to wear my AF blues slacks if I'm wearing a civilian belt, civilian shirt, civilian tie, and dress shoes. Thanks.

From the wizards at HQ AF PA. Link To Story That's pretty hot right there. All kidding aside, I see a brilliant shoe clerk career ahead for this overacheiver. She's 16, home-schooled, the "top CAP cadet", wants to study physics and physiology, her Mom says this award is "opening doors of opportunity", and she's taking karate to keep up with the AF's fitness standards. I'm quite sure if you asked her to name ONE of her friends or one band that has released an album in the last five years, she'd stutter and her head would explode. HD [ 15. Can anyone share the procedure used to attain a type rating. Can an MPD C-130 co-pilot get one? My last qual check ride was a year ago, and I'm my next check ride is due in MAR 2010. Do I still qualify for a type rating with the FAA?

First time poster and I know it's a stupid question but had to ask. I'll explain. I'm a Navy pilot and mod over at airwarriors. Lately we've had a rash of posers pretending to be aviators. They've been exposed, much to their chagrin. To think, people pretending to be something they are not on the net . Anyway, on another forum a guy claims to be an F-16 pilot and AF lawyer, a major select at age 26. He might very well be, I don't really know but he does call it the Fighting Falcon and makes some other strange claims. Anyway, it has become an issue of discussion. So I told him I would ask about it both here and F16.net. Obviously I have way to much time on my han…

I just got a speeding ticket on base - not paying attention and doing 32 in a 25 zone. I told my flight commander yesterday and he didn't seem too pissed, but is this something that could affect my flight commander ranking when it comes time for assignments?

It seems that Air Force aviation is more competitive than Naval aviation. Is this true? Why do most people choose to go Air Force? Is it because the have a bigger selection of planes? Or do they just dislike the idea of being stuck in a ship in the middle of the ocean?

Can someone please clarify for a British civil flight/tower/atc ops person just what an option is you get cleared for? We often get things at an airfield very close to us 'cleared for the option' and that can actually be anything from a full stop, low approach, go around or touch'n'go and just what the pilot does can affect our neighbouring pattern. So just what is an option?
