Does anyone have info on the cultural immersion PDT?

Hello all. I'm a civilian who got hired by a C-130 guard unit. Does anyone know if there is a published list of OTS / COT start dates? I just passed my FC1 and am expecting to have dates assigned in the next couple of weeks, but I'm wondering if I'll start OTS before the end of the year. Also, does anyone know how Christmas / New Year factor into the training cycle? Thanks!

I had a question about parking tickets. I just got parking ticket #4 in 1 1/2 years in the program. I also had a speeding ticket a couple weeks ago. Do you think I have excessive civil involvements? Am I in any danger of losing my enrollment allocation?

Right now I am 75% with my associates at Community College. The University that's close to me does have AF ROTC. What does ROTC usually look for, regarding transfers? If a Pilot Slot is my goal would being a Community College student hurt me compared to someone who directly attended a Four Year College directly out of high school? Also what GPA is considered ideal. Right now I am earning my Business Associates and have a 3.5 GPA. Is this low too? (I can still bring it up with my current classes and the last 5 I will take next year). This is probably asked a lot but how does the pilot selection process work for ROTC? I have recently found out that my job in the det for next semester is recruiting. I was wondering if any of you could let me know some of the things your det does for recruiting, that really work in getting people. Please help me out!

Hey guys! I have some questions and be prepared because some are probably dumb. Once you graduate from college with a bachelor degree (and lets say you participated in AFROTC) where do you go from there in the process of becomming an AF pilot? I have an idea but not exactly sure so I just wanted to clear some things up. Also how do you get from there to getting into UPT?

Was interested in becoming an Army Pilot by going through ROTC. Anyone know the process to become a pilot in the Army??

I received this email several months back at my .mil address. Thought i'd share with the folks here since you all are so honest and have been there and done that, therefore I think this is the best place for me to get input. I'm going into my sophomore year so the timing is perfect. I was already considering dropping ROTC and just finding a unit and going the OTS route but this sounds like much too sweet of a deal to pass up. For all you college guys, Is it possible to juggle varsity athletics and ROTC together? Is it possible to still be active with the detachment AND get alot of face time with the CC and cadre? What are the ups/downs? Thanks Tax

Just got a heads up from our cadre that monthly cadet stipends will be lowered by $50 for all year groups starting in the fall. This applies to all contracted cadets, not just the new people who are being awarded scholarships this FY. AS100 - $250 AS200 - $300 AS300 - $350 AS400 - $450 Also, I heard a rumor that Air Univ wants to drop the original FT slots number from 2200 to 1500 this year. Not sure if its going to happen but apparently thats the amount they're looking at. Bad times ahead...

I hope to enroll in the AFROTC program in the fall of 2010, im at the end of my Junior of High School. I was just wondering what the typical class size of incoming freshman who are enrolling in ROTC. I know it depends on a lot of variables, but are there any estimates? Ranges? If it is a smaller class size does that increase my chances for a pilot slot because I have less competition?

I have just joined ROTC on the two year program. I basically have less than a year before I apply to UPT... So the big question is...what spefic things should I concentrate on doing to "impress" my commander (I know how important that commander's rating is) All former and current ROTC cadets, please advise!!! Is there any disadvantage to using the crosstown program to attend ROTC offered at a school you're not attending? Would there be any pressure on the commander to boost the kids going to their "home" school over someone attending elsewhere? And also, does the Air Force take into account the quality/difficulty of the institutions where ROTC is offered? For instance, a cadet ranking in the middle of his detachment at MIT is likely to be a better candidate for a pilot slot than a cadet in the top of his detachment at a less selective school. I'm going out for wing commander for my det next year and I was wondering what are some activities other dets do other than paintball, basetrips, and the standard thing like that. I want to see if I can't get my det. out to moody to go to CATM or whitewater rafting.........basically i want to do something that has never been done at our det. So if yall could post some of the activites your dets. do that most dont that would be great. thx

Word around town is the upcoming February rated boards will be cutting pilot slots by about 140 and apparently there will be no Pilot/CSO options for the upcoming September supplemental boards, just ABM/RPA. Can anyone confirm?

If you get a 3yr ROTC scholarship at one school, can you transfer to another and still retain the scholarship? Thanks

Any ROTC cadets out there: Has the AF put out info on what the process is to gain your reserve commission in the event you take them up on their recent offer to not go the Regular active duty route? I am anticipating that after graduation in May there will probably be some ex-cadets looking to rush various guard/reserve units in the hopes of having a shot at flying training or at least a career of some sort with the ARC.

I'm a college freshman and I'll be starting AFROTC this spring. I don't receive my uniform 'til January (when school starts), so I was wondering...how many sets of uniforms am I gonna get? Do they issue the shoes/boots as well or do I need to buy them on my own?

Anyone get accepted for ASCP/SOAR and attend a cross-town community college while enrolled in a AFROTC before transferring over to a university to enter POC and earn their commission? One of the requirements to qualify for these two scholarships are: Be admitted to a school offering Air Force ROTC (including cross-town schools) and the academic major you desire to study. I plan on applying to a cross-town school such as a community college because its easier to get into and I wont have to take the SAT's because i have graded college work. I am just curious if anyone has gone this rout before using an enlisted commissioning scholarship. Thanks in advance!

I have the option of doing either. I'm hoping to get good grades in college, and believe I will be competitive for OTS. I would also really like to apply to the Guard/Res, Coast Guard, and Navy. My ultimate goal is to fly, and the Guard/Reserves would be my first choice, however Guard slots are hard to get and if it meant flying I'd happily go AD. I can afford college, so a scholarship is not an absolute necessity although it would be nice. Is getting a pilot slot though OTS hard? Is it easy for someone with good grades, a PPL, community service, etc. to get a pilot slot through OTS (depending on the needs of the AF), or is it a total crap shoot, and ROTC is much safer…

Anyone ever come across someone who has gone through ROTC while getting their masters? Second is the one year or 2 year ROTC program still available. Cheers -summers

for those who went the 2 year POC route and skipped the first 2 years of AFROTC, how hard is it to get adjusted to everything having missed the first 2 years? and is it that much harder to do well in FT because of everything you missed out on? im just saying this because this is the path I plan to take.

My buddy graduated from the Navel Academy and is getting married in a month. I am in the Air Force and will be the only one from the AF in the saber guard; the rest will be navy dudes and marines. He wants everyone to wear their service dress equivalent and not mess dress. I was wondering what uniform I should wear be it mess dress or service dress. Can you wear your saber in service dress? Also, what customs do you follow when the saber guard will be a mixed service detail? Can I even participate? What are the additional items required for the uniform when doing this ceremony? Last, can I buy this all of this stuff on base or do I need to order it from the web? …
