  2. Yep, summerslide covers the estate tax concept. It's also worth reading his series that starts with "My life is a lie. He's not some sort of lifelong progressive who is just now finding the spotlight. His research has changed his perspective (and mine) rather profoundly, and I think it's identified a blind spot in a lot of wealthy and or conservative people's philosophy.

  4. Ooorrrr, we could you know, stop putting all the old-people on welfare. Social security (in certain cases) functions to allow old people to stay in multi-million dollar homes in lieu of selling them. Homes which are then passed on to their heirs largely tax free. So, social security really functions as a wealth transfer vehicle from present-day workers to the descendants of property owners. We're not going to fix that though. So in a case like this, I could see an "estate" tax as being a legitimate recoupment of social security paid out which allowed someone to stay in their home until they died. Oorrrr, we could do the same thing for people who absorb massive medicare dollars in lieu of paying for their own healthcare. Orrrrr, we could stop the infinite deficit spend binge we're on, which will irrevocably result in continued and runaway inflation. Or yeah, I guess we could just take people's property too. I would have zero issue with people's estates owing taxes on income they claimed during their lives which they want their estates to pay after death. I'd have a major issue though, with just confiscating people's inheritance who aren't net minuses. I'd just rather it be characterized as a recoupment tax to identify it as a bill owed for benefits received. Most estate taxes are not "that." Is the article you reference the "Summer Slide" series?
  5. There is an element of the right that is highly susceptible to anti-semetic propaganda. He clearly fell victim to it. Ironically, this aligns people who fall for it with leftist elements. It's an extremely effective attack vector.
  6. Jk you were right lol, makes sense though
  7. You’re right, I meant the… 85th, I think?
  8. I thought 434th was the T-6 squadron we all go through and 87th was for T-38s for those who track that route.
  9. Same. My guess is they’re concurrent classes between the 87th and 434th. Might call the UTM tomorrow to ask which we’ll be in
  10. Yeah sounds like they are 2 potentially different classes. My RIP shows IPT from 30 June to 4 Dec and I spoke with the UTM and Flt/CC of the STUS today who told me specifically San Marcos. Are you guys also in the 21 Dec UPT class? Curious if that one is going to get pushed with holiday schedule
  11. He won. We'll see how that works out

  13. This one is sort of political, sort of economic, but does anybody follow Mike Green? His substack is "Yes I give a fig" and I'm pretty sure he's one of the most intelligent people I read. He's been in the news a bit because he's decided to deviate from his usual market and passive investing commentary and take a look at what's happening to the middle class. He recently put out a piece showing that the real poverty line, if you use similar assumptions to what was used in the '60s when it was created, is a hell of a lot closer to $100,000 a year than it is to to $35,000. There's a lot of nuance in there, but it's a fascinating theory. He most recently looked at why why there is such a divide between The haves and the have-nots, and he put it together in a three-piece article that I am pretty sure is in front of the paywall on substack. The short version is, bringing back a very aggressive estate tax maybe the only practical solution to the increasingly divided economy. Anyone who's interested in this type of thing, I strongly advise taking a look.
  14. Joining the UPT bandwagon it seems! Declined RPA with 94 PCSM, 97 Pilot, 42 Flight hours. Still no information on MFS

  16. 26 June IPT from Laughlin here; I talked to someone from the STUS today, and was only told that the possible locations will be San Marcos, Denton, and Georgetown. I hope 26 and 30 June are the same, because San Marcos is great! Also, it seems we’re going to have a higher than usual amount of crossflow folks in the May/June classes, since ROTC / Academy grads will have just graduated.
  17. Interesting, I know a couple of us have a 26 June IPT start date out of Laughlin. Is it possible these are two separate classes 26 Jun and 30 Jun?
  18. For my Laughlin bros, 47 STUS told me 30 June IPT is confirmed in San Marcos. Definitely a disconnect between the STUS and what AFPC tells us, but to be expected with all the different locations.
  19. I thought this was AI...Simply unreal. Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) complains that wealthy people are ABANDONING New York for Republican states like Florida and Texas to avoid oppressive taxes that fund her "generous" social programs She's PISSED they are no longer "captives" in her state.AQPUnUGnu4NaFSYN6iV5FFTITfyx_Y9yyNZndbjahwVQ8YPwD2gBf6Mv88iOVGram91JQ4GDJp1GQs0aD3VubXePyX4mqVcL-dTJbSSbHA.mp4
  20. Talk about butt hurt... Several Adams County sheriff's deputies are suing "AFROMAN" claiming they were needlessly harmed by music videos, most notably "Lemon Pound Cake" which included security camera footage taken in 2022 when they served a search warrant looking for drugs at the performer's home. None were found and charges were never filed. Now the fat deputy is upset because AFROMAN made a music video and which caught the deputy eyeballing a lemon pound cake made by AFROMAN's mom. This officer actually cried on the stand citing embarrassment. Epic suit for court.

  22. Gotcha thanks In another thread I suggested a heavy only UPT program for students bound for heavy ANG/Reserve units, maybe XPW could have been that with a contractor/aviation school basic/intermediate phases with the T-1 being the advanced and military introductory flying phase Water under the bridge but worthy of BO discussion XPW 2.0 proposal Heavy tracked ARC students commercial instrument rated pilots & volunteers track to a Parachute, PPL, AMEL and Aerobatics/2 ship formation training all contractor, mil supervised. Around 150-170 hours. Graduate and then multi turbine training with mil instructors. 2 phases there: 1 tactical air mobility training (ME experience, STOL, NVGs, Semi-prepared field ops); around 40-50 hours. Phase 2, 737 type training with 15 simulator rides, 10 flights 737. 1.0 hour flights, normal ops to a rendezvous to a fellow 737 to pre contact, recover using automation and full NAV capabilities, short pattern ops. CFI, Comm instrument rated pilots or higher certified pilots (ATP) with 300+ hours could be PA’d thru all Phase 1 training except Parachute (unless they are already free fall certified) Aerobatics & Form if passing an oral, academic and practical evaluation. Not a wham bam thank you ma’am widget program but an affordable and reliable way to produce strong graduates. This 737 fleet would be also used for E-7 training (assuming it is acquired), a surrogate for air refueling training for other platforms as the Navy does with its heavy aircraft crew and as an experience and currency trainer for rated staff returning to the Line. It would also act as a reserve fleet for AMC if training or operational demands required the use of them. Fleet of 20, all based near an airline domicile. #strongpilotculture
  23. You’re outraged at a hat? Is this a serious question or am I missing sarcasm?
  24. The guy said Iran posed no imminent threat? What a dumbass, glad he’s gone.
  25. This is starting to get suspicious, apparently one of his colleagues went missing last year and was never found. She was instrumental in developing a new metal material to replace a proprietary metal found in Russian rocket motors used in commercial rockets.
  26. “Joe Kent is a crazed egomaniac who was often at the center of national security leaks, while rarely (never?) producing any actual work,” Taylor Budowich, Trump’s former deputy White House chief of staff and a political consultant, said in an X post. “This isn’t some principled resignation — he just wanted to make a splash before getting canned. What a loser,” Budowich said. Here's one of the times where he leaked National Security Secrets on a podcast: And here's another clip where his Trump Derangement Syndrome is extremely apparent: He could've just said "I quit because I hate Jews and I'm a Nazi" and dispensed with all of the below gobbledygook.
  27. Reading through the syllabus it looks similar to the 2.5 T-6 syllabus, but done all in the T-1. Academics/sim phase to start, then transition rides, nav rides, and mission rides. Overall seems to be fewer rides than we had in the T-6, but they also don't have a dedicated formation training block like the T-6 has.
  28. Last week
  29. CNBCU.S. counterterrorism director Joe Kent resigns over war:..."Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation," Kent wrote in his letter to President Donald Trump.damn, that TDS is going around...SAD.
