Probably really should say “T-38 Beale” because that’s exactly what it is...with the caveat explained in the U-2 thread as someone has already mentioned.

Talking with a buddy who recently left there FAIP's are almost the only way they get IP's at Laughlin anymore, guess there has a been a large number of 7 day opts following the notice they're headed to KDLF.

5 FAIPs in the drop at KEND last night as well. 3 T-6 and 2 T-38. Don't have the full list of drops though.

Not even surprised about the FAIP #s anymore. We were straight-up told TD-1 AETC is going to drive up FAIP numbers due to lack of IPs coming in from big AF to meet new production demands.

When is the last "class" at the UPT bases?  By this I mean, which is the last group to have a traditional drop night, and have they figured out how assignment selection will work?

How does a prior-MWS guy who still has 3+ years left on their initial 10 year ADSC 7-day opt out of going to Laughlin?  By the way, I know for a fact that MWS guys are going to Laughlin.

Stop talking out of your ass or relaying information from guys talking out of their ass.

Not even close. Used to FAIP around 1/3 of each class (8 in mine).

DLF is unable to meet the demand for Civillian Sim Ip's and is making up for it with Military sim ips. To offset the cost of the sorties lost by them simming, AFPC is giving DLF a handful more FAIPs this fiscal year, which is much easier/quicker to coordinate than a handful more MWS dudes

So what is the real reason for more FAIPs? 


Left the UPT world about a year and a half ago, but I believe the idea of FAIPing more graduates was in it’s infancy around that time. SQ/CC heard from the white jet functional that they were kicking around the idea. Reason being was that since MWS FTUs are a bottleneck, more FAIPs could mean an increase in “pilot production” without clogging up the FTUs.

Reasonably sure there was no plan for what to do three years later when all those FAIPs have to go somewhere to the same clogged up FTUs. Because Air Force.
