When I was in my late teens and early 20s I worked in the rental car industry.  The  company wouldn’t call a vehicle in as stolen or missing until the 30 day mark because of the possibility of a clerical error leading to a felony stop. You can’t rent a car longer than 30 days on one contract because it becomes a lease after 30 days.

They truly crazy part, the Grand Prairie Police are seeking an indictment against him.  Go to the wrong house, shoot the innocent homeowner who thinks someone is breaking into his house, then charge HIM....seems legit.

I'm betting they're trying to strong arm the homeowner not to sue. We'll drop the indictment if you agree not to sue. They have unlimited taxpayer money to come after the homeowner while most average people don't have deep pockets.

 

 

This has a Nexus to a whole lot of threads and discussions on BO. Assuming events occurred as they appear I admit I find it disturbing to say the least. Had it been my family member I can't use the words I would like on a public forum.

Assuming the situation started as soon as the video started?  

I'm the first to say there are ALOT of un-educated best case/worst case there are A LOT of LE that shouldn't be LE but to take this video and make any judgement is comical.

I don't know and certainly more to the story. I thought the white and also by all appearances unmarked vehicle moved into her. Normally an accident no more severe than this would be investigated by local PD. Take her information and let local PD take her into custody since she was a US Citizen. The video is pretty disturbing, although it would be nice to know what happened in the 6-9 seconds before the video started.  It appears to be an absurd amount of force being used.  Do all the agents really need their guns drawn?  Unless she was suspected of some violent crime, then these guys should be retrained in the proper use of force.  Police, to include ICE, FBI, ATF, etc, need to understand that they are public servants, just like the military.  Any policeman that is so scared that he feels like he needs to be the 5th guy to draw a gun on a small single female is in the wrong line of work.

That being said, if she was actually the one instigating and either hit or positioned her vehicle to impede the operation (again, previous 6-9 seconds would be nice to see), then their actions would be a little more justified.

I'm guessing that the truth is somewhere in the middle as it usually is.  If ICE was entirely at fault, there would be dozens of lawyers lined up at her door.  She probably either hit the van or was being aggressive with her vehicle and the ICE leadership likely realized that they used excessive force so they didn't pursue charges.  But given the district that the events occurred in, it is entirely possible that the DA dropped the charges for political purposes even if she was 100% at fault.

Guys... First rule of not falling for internet nonsense. Always ask why the camera was rolling recording in the first place, and who was doing the recording. 

Within the first 3 seconds of the video there are onlookers shouting, a horn blaring, and a vehicle accelerating into another vehicle.

Whatever led up to this video, it wasn't just a woman driving to work when an ice vehicle just smashed into her car and arrested her. 

 

Also, am I the only person who would just get out of the car if a mini SWAT team surrounded my vehicle?

Right of way rules apply here. When players come out or in, it's their tunnel.  Anyone in the way, either a cheerleader or banner, may get mowed over.

New rule to add to the motherhood: Egressers, defenders, and football players in the tunnel have the right of way.

Can you iamgine how he acts on a traffic stop when no one else is around and no national media looking at you?

I'd like to see that exact same interaction happen without a badge to hide behind and no TV cameras... That 'tough guy' would get whooped.

John Oliver has a recent episode on police chases.  As I watched, I bet myself a beer that he mentions Arkansas St Troopers.  Yep.  Highest rate of PITs.

So I understand the argument against based on the risk of collateral damage, but from the perspective of the maneuver itself, are there many examples of "unjustified" PIT maneuvers? You're either running from the cops or you're not. That just sounds like the pinnacle of "win stupid prizes."

Several examples of ASHP hitting their lights, subject vehicle making indications of pulling over (flashers, slowing down, heading to the next exit, NOT RUNNING), and getting PIT'd in under a minute.

This exact situation was on the Oliver show.  Trooper PIT'd a pregnant lady, flipped her minivan over as she was trying to find a good spot to pull over.
