Disagree...basic IFR rules, what if there was another aircraft between them and 12k? If you are going to descend on your own you have to tell someone.

We are in agreement, they are 100% wrong.

However.. this is what the Air Force is going to get when you gut training. Giving guys and girls their wings after a T-6 only syllabus. More time in the air is the fix.
