They've only given us a week notice before she needs to hit the road. We are trying to find her an apartment that is in a good neighborhood not too far from base. She is not into gambling or drinking so being close to the night life or near the strip is important to her(I on the other hand can't wait to visit!) . I'm sure there are outliers, but like a lot of major city bases, the areas/neighborhoods around the base are shitty. I've seen that prices have come up from the bottom but I've also read that these prices came up quickly due to outside investors. Is the area likely to have another drop or do you think the market stabilized? Any other gotchas I should be aware of? This is mostly due to a influx of business with large growth in data storage/processing, engineering firms, transportation, and of course entertainment. Switch408 Posted May 2, 2016 Share Posted May 2, 2016 My 2 cents: I live in Summerlin. It's been a nice part of town for a while and it keeps getting better. The Downtown Summerlin area was completed about a year and a half ago- cool new area with lots of awesome restaurants and stores. Couple that with the Boca Park business area and you really can't get bored. Yeah its on the other side of Vegas from Nellis, but put it to you this way: I'm stationed at Creech which is much farther than Nellis and I've never once regretted living here during my commute to work.
