That picture was taken in some studio in Dongerwood. Total fake! You can't even see any stars in the background. (\sarcasm)

So here's a good addition to "Chinese Shenanagins"...

SU-27 does "Very Dangerous" barrel roll over P-8. Keeping up international relations of course.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/08/22/chinese-jet-threatened-us-intelligence-aircraft/

-----------------------------

The Pentagon said Friday that a Chinese fighter jet made “several passes” by a U.S. Navy aircraft earlier this week off the coast of China in international airspace, baring its weapons and coming within mere feet of the U.S. plane.

Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Adm. John Kirby said Washington has lodged a protest to China through diplomatic channels, calling the maneuver “very close” and “very dangerous.”

“Not only is it unprofessional, it’s unsafe,” Kirby said.

Kirby said the Chinese jet made several close passes by the Navy P-8 Poseidon plane, coming within 30 feet of it. He said the Chinese jet did a “barrel roll” maneuver over the top of the Poseidon and also passed across the nose of the Navy plane, exposing the belly of the fighter in a way apparently designed to show that it was armed.

Kirby said it happened about 135 miles east of Hainan Island.

“We have registered our strong concerns to the Chinese about the unsafe and unprofessional intercept which posed a risk to the safety and the wellbeing of the air crew and was inconsistent with customary international law,” he said. “Also … this undermines efforts to continue developing military-to-military relations with the Chinese military.”

The Washington Free Beacon first reported on the incident, saying the P-8 was conducting routine surveillance when the Chinese Su-27 interceptor carried out a barrel roll over the U.S. plane.

As reported by the Free Beacon, this is the second such encounter this year with a U.S. surveillance aircraft – following an incident in April involving a Russian Su-27 flying close to a U.S. Air Force aircraft north of Japan.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Well I was running to it then I saw this girl and...

But back to China...

With their acquisition of IL-78 Midas tankers, a budding airlift capacity with the new Y-20 Strat Airlifter and then this possible new helicopter they will have more of what they need to move quickly and sustain forces... China likes to teach her neighbors a lesson from time to time (Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai publicly said the war was intended “to teach India a lesson"). Starting to seem someone is going to get a lesson in a few years.

China’s Military Gets Expeditionary

Edited by Clark Griswold

What were we talking about again?

Something about China getting ready to invade somebody or something, honestly I forgot...

Id go down in those South Seas.

Again back to China, more conjecture but worth a read about how China might try to invade.

Container ships, Trojan horse attacks and using container ships for an initial invasion instead of landing craft. Creative, it would have the benefit of surprise and if timed with a follow on attack and conventional support, it could crack the door open wide enough to jam your foot in.

China's container ship fleet and Taiwan's security

Reading a bit about this, one author raised a good point that we may be projecting our thinking on to what we think they may do based on how we would do it, they could do nothing or something completely different.

This is how the U.S. thinks China could invade Taiwan

Well they're already used to riding in shipping containers. Make sure to drill a few holes in it first.

True - just pack the containers better than this.

MSC-Alabama-1.jpg

Is that the Maersk Alabama?

Nope - just the container ship MSC Alabama - can be tracked here:

https://www.vesselfinder.com/vessels/MSC-ALABAMA-IMO-9123166-MMSI-371602000

So we need to stop invasion via container ship. I know just the guys for the job:

Picture not showing.

I admit that the odds that China is going to invade Taiwan are low and the odds you would see bunch of these guys busting out of a container ship in a Taiwan are low too however...

this is the nation that brought us the ever quotable Sun Tzu, the most apt quote here being:

  • All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when we are able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must appear inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.

They are very good at deception and timing deceptive tactics with sudden quick conventional action to catch their opponents off guard and multiply the effect, good paper from the NWC on this here. Would they go for the dramatic and sneaky like this? Doubt it but would not put it past them to do what they did in the Korean War, have a diplomatic delegation fly to NYC then invade right as they get there when leadership is thinking they are interested in a diplomatic solution.

^That's a Long EZ!

No kidding. Why spend tons of cash on R & D when Burt Rutan and Scaled Composites did all the work for you. Buy the kit and modify to meet mission requirements.

Good article, thanks for sharing. The pictures don't look at all like the Sambisa forest, I wonder what's really happening there. It's also curious for Nigeria to buy UAVs, they currently won't pay for fuel or uniforms or other essentials their army needs to fight BH.

No problem -thought it was interesting that some countries are looking to and acquiring advanced systems from China and leap frogging into capabilities that we might not expect
