11F
Does this take into account the 1% cut to BAH that was passed in the NDAA? Affirm, it accounts for the 1% reduction and the removal of the requirement for it to cover renter's insurance. -break- Dude, that's a huge reduction at Maxwell! MSCguy
Remember the rate protection clause. For most of us we're frozen at our 2014 rates until promoted, PCSed, or dependent status changes.

Chida
Little Rock O-4 down 6%. I suspect reservists who go off and on active duty orders for >30 days at a time don't get rate protection. We'll need to see what happens to BAH-II which is more applicable to most reservists.

pawnman
So, with so many of us reporting close to a 10% drop in BAH rates, can anyone explain how the Pentagon released this blurb as an INCREASE in BAH for most service members?

You're only pay protected until you get promoted OR to your current orders end date.

Herk Driver
Even with a promotion, BAH rate protection applies, somewhat. You get either the new pay grade rate (unprotected) or the previous grade (rate protected) amount if it was higher. Specifically addressed in the FAQs, number 7. With the nearly 10% drops in some locales, this will be a factor.https://www.defensetravel.dod.mil/site/faqbah.cfm#Q7 Edited December 24, 2014 by Herk Driver
MCO
little rock is only down if you have dependents... if you are single you are gaining as much as guys with dependents are losing. The difference between an O-3 with and without dependents now is only about 80 bucks. It was about 200.

There are plenty of quality homes in Marysville! /s Seems like most below O-3 are seeing a pretty bad decrease. There goes everyone's 40 minute commute gas money...
