The real question is who is the winner who is trying so hard to speak like Gunnery Sergeant Hartman?

Me's'a foreigner, patois' different. Sorry, will amend ways. My main question is: doesn't that AT-6 gear look a bit frail for what it is?

What AT-6? It's already been pointed out that the picture you posted is a Tucano, not a T-6. You can tell by the 5 bladed prop, rounded as opposed to triangular starter air intake below the left cowling, FLIR (or whatever) in the nose as opposed to under the cokpit, and the fact that its has a Brazilian registration number (but odly that looks like a Colombian roundel on the aft fuseladge).

How in the world did that engine not shit itself as soon as that dust started flying into the intake?

Inertial separation. Introduces a high-G turn in the intake flow prior to the compressor. Debris is too heavy to make the turn.
