  1. Byrnes always came off as a total careerist. Also, He was the guy who had a fully functioning f-16 simulator built in his room...
  2. Clark Griswold.... Oh boy, how to put this. Your posts remind me of the crazy emails my relatives spam my inbox with about how Hillary Clinton is overturning the 2nd Amendment and how Obama is a Muslim Kenyan etc.
  3. Forget this TIB BS. Here's a story about a Nurse out on a night op with the Rangers who made the ultimate sacrifice in October to save others. Maybe this TIB chick should realize other chicks are out there who never hoped or sought to be written about how tough they had it. http://www.armytimes.com/article/20140429/NEWS/304290068/The-last-moments-Jennifer-Moreno-an-Army-nurse-killed-Afghanistan
  4. Big picture: The Air Force is no way in hell going to start an acquisition program for a field a "light attack/cas/whatever" platform. Lets get real, all this debate is moot.
  5. ...and 30 min on station Unless a jet is AR capable, its useless overhead anything in my book
  6. Big picture, nothing will happen. They never do, not there, wayyy too much brass involved for anything to change. My junior year a girl who was successfully found guilty of an honor violation (it was her second violation and second time with a guilty verdict) was recommended for dis-enrollment, which in 99.99% of cases means you're gone...unless your daddy is a general. So this chicks dad is a general, forgot the number of stars, and she was personally retained by the commandant of cadets, a former KCVS Wing/CC, who decided to reverse the boards decision. I will say this kids story sounds ed up, mostly OSI's handling of things, however, it usually takes a lot more than sneaking off campus to get kicked out. However, I'm sure there is more info about his circumstances the former cadet didn't offer up in this story
  7. Spoken truly like a person who doesn't know just how long things take and how this stuff plays out. This is the same thought process all the clowns in the house throw at the POTUS about Benghazi
  8. Yea, and they get a uniform stipend to buy uniforms. This is not a great criteria to evaluate a "new" uniform
  9. I dont know anyone that dislikes the multicam. At first I thought I would hate it compared to my bag for flying. I actually like it more, I'd wear it at home if i could
  10. Yea dude, the low point of this deployment by far. Had the Viper crash, the MC-12, then after once of the sketchy-ist landings of my life (the winds, gusts, and shear that day were awful) we come in and 30 minutes later we hear the 747 explode and see the smoke cloud over the field for hours. Then the KC-135 crash. F*cking terrible. It took a few weeks to not be uneasy in the gut while flying, but hey, its a risk. Mitigate best you can, pay attention to detail and press, well that and time passing is what it took to enjoy flying again out here again.
  11. AC-130 had a mixed bailout/ditch back in the 90's. If i remember right only one of the bailout guys ended up being killed however a few of the crew that rode to the ditch were killed. Not comparing one is "safer" to the other, but no ones brought this actual bailout and ditching mishap yet
  12. No one is making anyone be and airshow pilot, stop bitching
  13. Question, we just started flying with iPads and we're all getting used to them. Throwing mine up in the dash seemed pretty convenient but the thing was getting hot as f*ck from the sun. I know electronics in the sun getting hot isn't a great idea but anyone accidentley tested the limits with this or seen any problems with iPads getting too hot from the sun?
  14. http://www.cnn.com/2012/08/04/us/michigan-close-planes/index.html?hpt=hp_t2 2 jets, 2 miles apart in the radar pattern, ATC knows this, pilots call visual with each other. Normal day right? "CNN first learned of the incident from an alleged passenger who said he could see a regional jet below them from his cabin window." Made the front page of CNN..wtf
  15. maybe some general in some terrible country is thinking "awesome, let the tactic be flight right at the thing and get to the merge...then we'll win!"
  16. you just proved my point on the sanity thing. Having some food/water/radio cause you live in a hurricane/tornado/flood/earthquake area is a rational reason. An "economic disaster" (wtf does that mean?) because you think our leaders are short sited? What? I think Zombies are equally as likely, now that would be sweet
  17. You sounded mostly sane till you said this. Seriously, do you think Obama is secretly selling USA to the Chinese or something?
  18. Haha, the airline dudes checking out with "good luck" thats hilarious
  19. About 2/3 of that stuff would likely be left at the FOB by the ground guys because of weight. Still cool ideas, geeky name though
  20. He should have "Welcome to Earf'd" that clown
  21. what series of events would ever lead to that
  22. Good on those dudes. An example of doing what you think is right and saying f it to the "career consequences". Also, big respect for coming off as competent, intelligent, respectful, and in general "officer-like" in the interview.
