Gun Talk

Colorado is in the process of becoming one of the most restrictive gun states. If all the laws go through, MAGPUL will be forced to move out of state and close to 700 jobs will be lost along with millions in revenue. Regretting not starting my collection sooner.

The actual vote is today...hoping and praying it doesn't go through

I'd find a regular shoulder rig such as the ones Galco makes. I actually have an Uncle Mike's that I use for motorcycling, it's a vertical set-up and works well under the leathers...

Although I do applaud the "lift" provided by that rig in the picture!

I'm thinking it will...the Dems contol the entire State government (Gov and legislature) so I'm sure they figured this all out before they started pushing their bills. It's seems like most States that are entirely run by Dems are doing more or less the exact same thing, with a few exceptions. For those who live there voluntarily, it's easy--vote with your feet and move. For us poor suckers in the military, we won't be in forever and then we can chose where we want to live.

Texas will gladly take them and their jobs, with open arms.

They passed.

Time to get the ###### out of Dodge. What a waste of beautiful country.

I feel safer already. It's amazing how quickly the state acts on certain issues. If only they were in such a rush to deal with the illegals, drugs, gangs, ect....

It really is a damn shame. You can't go anywhere on the east side of Denver without watching your back for those mentioned above.

What sucks the most for me is two months ago, within the same week, I had been hunting, fishing, skiing, climbing, paragliding, mountain biking, golfing, to an NFL game, and camping all within an hours drive from my house. And I can do the quick tour of the Coors factory (3 free beers) anytime I want if I have 20 free minutes. Fvck this blows.

Glad I decided to rent for a year to get a feel for the area. Makes it a lot easier to pull chocks.

The liberals (which now owns the Democratic Party) only care about pushing their social agenda where government has most of the control. People having firearms does not further this agenda, and neither does reducing welfare, drug use, and deporting illegals--as they also rely on the government and if they do in fact become legal citizens one day then most likely they will vote Democrat. Here lies which way CO is going.

I've said it before and I'll say it again--it comes down to demographics, birth rates, and also out of wedlock birth rates. If you want to know which way a State will be in 10-20 years, look at the demographics. What's also interesting is that you can predict which large metropolis areas are going to have the most crime just by looking at the demographics (not an exact science but it's a strong correlation). Think about it--most intelligent people look at crime stats to choose/not choose which neighbor to live in...why wouldn't you extend that same thought rationale on which city/State to live in? I know it also comes down to employment, but at some point you have to decide what's most important.

So you're giving up "hunting, fishing, skiing, climbing, paragliding, mountain biking, golfing, NFL games, camping, and free Coors" because of a 15 round magazine limit and background checks.

I understand it sucks... but damn.

You can do all but 2 of those listed in a handful of much better States--and as for the NFL game, that's what the 60" flat screen and the occassional vacation to the actual stadium is for. As for free beer, I think I can afford 3 Coors, and besides, it's not like he was going there more than once a month! (though I could be wrong).

Absolutely it is worth it. There are some things worth sacrificing material comfort for.

It's called taking a stand on principles.

Absolutely I am. The end result of the liberal design is not something I will support, and the road there, by nature, must be insidious. This is the first vote I've seen in Colorado which is, in my mind, a definitive move towards that. Hence, I'll put my revenue into a different state. I'd rather move, keep what I feel is not the CO state governments to take, along with my money, than have a "Molon Labe" bumper sticker but abide and begin the slow journey towards an unarmed populous.

So what do we do as the red states continue to attract - generalization here - those who will produce, encourage capitalism and increase the quality of life that then draws in those who leech as has happened in the very blue and, as in Colorado, recently blue states?

Destroy ourselves from within, unless we finally realize how destructive an overly PC outlook is to a modern society.

The endgame for America right now is either a non-superpower nanny state with abysmal values and a defunct economy, or a lot of hard work and sacrifice to re-realize what the American dream always was, which has no room for unwarranted entitlement. Those unwilling to contribute to society will eventually acclimatize or completely fail at life.

Interesting question. I look at it as the squirell who keeps coming up to the same person because the squirell knows where it can get its food--if it stops getting fed, the squirrel won't come back and will go elsewhere.

The Red States (I'm speaking the mountain west States (less CO) and the plain States) need to ensure they severely limit what attracts those who leach...so extreme limitations on welfare, strict adherence to enforcing laws/cracking down on crime, not giving into the PC BS, etc. There's a reason illegal immigrants are attracted to States (CA for example) that 'look the other way' and who also are very happy to give them welfare, driver licenses, etc. I'm generalizing here, but it's a shame as it applies to the majority.

The problem with CO is that it was purple-red in the past, but with liberal Denver increasing welfare spending, State college education for illegals, etc, and now with the increasing Hispanic population, it has moved closer to being purple-blue. The Hippies in Denver and Boulder got their way.

Read the exit polls fom the last election, they are very very telling.

I have been tracking a lot of different states lately... at the rate we are going (strictly talking about states, not the federal government) in 20 years or so, we will have what is essentially two different countries in one. We will have the Blue states which will be extremely socialist, nanny-states. and the red states which will be even more towards the opposite end of the spectrum. As more and more people reach their breaking point and move to states that fit their ideals, this will become even more pronounced. Where this nation as a whole goes, depends GREATLY on which side the various purple states fall, as that will affect who has more control at a federal level. What the overall effect of this will be is anyones guess, but it is interesting to think about.

The liberals (which now owns the Democratic Party)

That's funny...the left wing is running the Democratic party now? News to me. Almost all liberals are Democrats, but that by no means that all Democrats are liberals, nor are many of the Democratic leaders very liberal.

I've said it before and I'll say it again--it comes down to demographics, birth rates, and also out of wedlock birth rates. If you want to know which way a State will be in 10-20 years, look at the demographics.

Couple questions about your theory of birthrates and out of wedlock birth rates:

Are higher birth rates good or bad? 19 of the 25 states with a higher than U.S. average birthrates are red states. Obviously scale isn't the same in every state but the actual rankings were different than I imagined before looking.

Are our of wedlock births really that bad? I tend to agree just on gut feeling that they are bad too, but I think it's maybe a symptom rather than a cause. I know comparing the U.S. to other countries is heresy but I found this interesting:

screenshot20130218at733.png

Out of wedlock birthrates are up all over the world, but the U.S. is pretty much dead in the middle of this group of14 advanced nations. Japan is super-low, Iceland is super-high. I think a lot of that difference is societal and can be linked to the acceptance of out of wedlock births in general, but I'm not sure it's such a terrible malady when 2 of the countries with the consistently highest quality of life ratings are over 50%; doesn't seem to be negatively affecting their society in measurable ways, at least not yet.

Just some observations, trying to understand your idea here.

I have been tracking a lot of different states lately... at the rate we are going (strictly talking about states, not the federal government) in 20 years or so, we will have what is essentially two different countries in one.

Check out the book Our Patchwork Nation. Kinda dispels the red state/blue state myth and looks at counties which provides a lot more detail. There are big differences between different places, but it's not so neat and clean as a bipolar choice. Their website is pretty cool too.

Edit to add: massive derail from guns...sorry for playing along.
