Jiu-jitsu Training
Go train. Find a way to train, even if it’s once a week or less. Look at branching out and finding a judo school, etc, if you can’t find an actual BJJ gym. I’ve been training for years and I would always find a place to roll, even if it meant going out of my way to do so. It’s cool because I’ve now trained jiu jitsu on 5 of the 7 continents. You may not get consistent training in but it’s better than nothing. And, if you’re like me, I’d rather train than party, it’s a better release from the intensities of studying/working.

Ordering Patches (name, morale, fun meter)
Anyone ever used Tipsy Gypsy? https://www.tgpatch.com/ I have their patches on my Navy G1 and the quality is awesome. I’m debating getting one for an A2 but what’s the deal with the A2 name tag being brown overlaid on black? Im reading the uniform regs and it says brown or black, not both.

Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP - The Bonus)
Yup, that’s me. My transfer commitment takes me to right at 21 years so I’d be throwing money away if I didn’t take the bonus.

Commanders are dropping like flies this year
That was my thought. There will always be outliers at either extreme but when there’s a lot of bunching in one spot, that’s a pretty good indication of a trend.

Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP - The Bonus)
Sorry fellas, as part of my switch over from the Navy to 11M, I’m eligible for the bonus, so I took it. I’m sure I skewed the numbers 😂 In all seriousness, and I admittedly haven’t talked to a lot of tanker dudes yet, but I’ve yet to meet one who took the bonus.

New Fitness Rules
With the current PT test, as long as you aren’t a lazy fatbody, you can pass this test without ever working out, and I mean literally never working out. I know quite a few dudes in the Navy that are proud of the “3 mile a year club”, and the standards are fairly similar between the two services. It’s not an issue of being fit, it’s an issue of just simply giving a shit.

I guess litigation runs in the family. I recall hearing his kids sued either him or his new wife when they first got married.

Airlift stops
Cliff notes - When a contractor literally throws hookers through your door and wines and dines you at Michelin 5 star restaurants for financial favor on contracts, etc, it usually doesn't end well. Lots of O-6 and Flag level dudes in the Navy got axed for it. Some even went to prison.

Airlift stops
Reminds me of how they build aircraft carriers. Contracts are written so long ago that by the time the carriers get built, a lot of shit is outdated. One ludicrous example, the old school cork push pin boards. All the ready rooms were written to have them. Fast forward to today, and dry-erase boards are what we need and works so much better. Cant just have the cork boards replaced during construction. Gotta finish the build then write an entirely new contract for the dry-erase boards. Ends up costing several grand per board for a $100 dry erase board.

CLASSIC: De Motivational Poster Contest!
I think through all my time in SE Asia I’ve spent about 16 months in the PI, to include quite a bit of time Angelas City and Olongopao. Considering how crazy it is now, it’s hard to fathom what it must’ve been like back then.

Degradation of SUPT
If they have, it’s not widely known. I’ll ask a few of my bros down at Whiting and see what they say.

Degradation of SUPT
The VR stuff sounds like really effective chair flying, but it (in my opinion) won’t ever be a 1 for 1 substitute of actual flight time. VR doesn’t replicate the feeling of sweat in your eyes and now you can’t actually see lead, or when being surprised when g comes on the aircraft and you miss a radio call, etc. VR is helpful, sure, but it is concerning if it replaces actual flight time.

What's wrong with the Air Force?
Probably not ‘what’s bad’, but just ran my first PT test in the AF. I’m 37, not skinny anymore, and I weigh 230, but I took great pleasure in beating the skinny 20-somethings, by at least a minute or more, in the run. 38 inch beer gut be dammed.

Degradation of SUPT
For curiosity's sake, what are some of the basics you have seen that are missing?

Children of US troops born overseas will no longer get automatic American citizenship
I was born in the Netherlands in a local dr office, my dad was stationed there with the Air Force. My birth certificate is of a US citizen board abroad, the State Dept gave it to my dad when he gave them the Dutch birth certificate, and we didn’t have to do anything beyond that for my citizenship. This was early 80s timeframe.

Army to AF Transfer (Green to Blue)
I actually did go to school in Charleston, but it was Navy nuke school, not a normal college.

Army to AF Transfer (Green to Blue)
I just commissioned today through the IST process. I was an active-reserve type in the Navy (FTS) and flew helos. I’m now on my way to fly the KC-135. If you have any questions about the IST process feel free to PM me. It’s not difficult, it just takes a long time.

What's wrong with the Air Force?
This isn’t an AF specific problem. The Navy looks down, long term promotion/career wise, on the guys who teach primary/advanced (UPT). It creates the ultimate boot-loop; send lower quality guys to teach, teaching new kids to fly is looked down as a second tier job, so the instructors ultimately promote at a much lower rate. Commanders end up sending their lower quality guys because they probably won’t promote. Repeat. At the end of the day, the harsh truth is quality suffers, even if the dudes teaching are good dudes. The biggest heartache is the dudes that are good and want to go teach and do a helluva job at it, but get caught in mix.

In matters of the law, ethics don't matter. The first is objective, the second is subjective. If we determine legal outcomes based on ethics, then the whole idea of equality under the law goes out the window.

New Fitness Rules
So what is the current pt testing policy? Get tested in the squadron or is there an office at the base gym the runs it?

Any finance / MPF gurus here (orders questions)
I commission into the active duty Air Force via an interservice transfer in August. AFPC/DP2LT is saying I need to PCS to my gaining unit (OCONUS) to in-process and then proceed TDY for my initial -135 PIQ course. The MSgt at the AFPC office is concerned that I won’t get paid if I don’t in-process prior to going TDY. When I reached out to my gaining base finance, that MSgt was wondering why I needed to go there first and not just do a TDY enroute. I realize doing an interservice transfer is a rare occurrence, but would anyone know applicable AFIs or AFMANs that might apply? Or, just know the answer? For many reasons I’d rather go TDY enroute than PCS and I’m hoping I can find justification to do so.
