  1. I'll quote a certain former commander I once had the pleasure of working for "That's what security forces is for" 🤦‍♂️
  2. Started as an enlisted Traditional Reservist. Guard CSO Board: May 2018 Notified: May 2018 Gained By Guard: September 2018 Reserve UPT board: September 2018 (good timing right?) Notified: September 2018 FC1 Scheduled: January 2019 AFRC UFT Board: January 2019 Notified: January 2019 FC1: May 2019 (Need anthropomorphic waiver for exceeding 40' sitting height) FC1 Stamped: September 2019 EDSCA: Nov 2019 There was an issue processing my separation because guard, so I wasn't actually separated until a month later Gained by 340th: Dec 2019 OTS: February 2020
  3. I feel like this should be a contest instead of a lottery
  4. I needed an anthropomorphic waiver. FC1 was mid may, it didn't get approved until late September
  5. No one gives a shit where the degree comes from, as long as it's accredited. I went to 4 different schools, has an abysmal GPA, graduated from an online school and still got hired. Your credentials are exceptional so start rushing now.
  6. Started as an enlisted Traditional Reservist. Guard CSO Board: May 2018 Notified: May 2018 Gained By Guard: September 2018 Reserve UPT board: September 2018 (good timing right?) Notified: September 2018 FC1 Scheduled: January 2019 AFRC UFT Board: January 2019 Notified: January 2019 FC1: May 2019 (Need anthropomorphic waiver for exceeding 40' sitting height, was told I'd be track limited but I was hired by a C-130 unit so no big deal) FC1 pulled by AETC for certification: June 2019 Radio Silence: Now Does AETC pulling my FC1 mean that a waiver was written by WP and it's just waiting on the SG to sign? Anyone have any recent experience with the timeline here?
  7. I feel like someone got away with that once and the airline smartened up. More power to you if it's possible though. Yes, it is a valid concern, I had units call me a week in advance to come out for an interview.. not much notice. Fortunately my other career allows me to work remotely so I kind of just disappeared for a week, but obviously you cant do that when you're flying.
  8. Rush now, some units will interview if you're a year away from graduating. If not, you'll make contacts. What do you mean "make the most of my USERRA rights?" There's only one "right." it's that your employer has to hold your position. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the second part but you are in no way protected under USERRA when rushing units.
  9. How the hell are we supposed to quantify that?
  10. The 302nd got some MAFFS last year to help out with the colorado fires. Not sure how common that is though.
  11. You could always preemptively obtain a norse shaving waiver and slam it down in front of the board. https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/your-air-force/2019/07/18/meet-the-first-norse-heathen-airman-to-grow-a-beard-in-the-air-force/
  12. we didn't do that a few months ago, you must have been the special winner
  13. Unfortunately AFRC requires a stamped FC1 before they'll gain you and give dates. And yeah, I took a nice 2 day tour of the museum 🙂
  14. Same here, I'm that giraffe that needs the height waiver to tell me I can't fly the T38 even though I was hired by a C130 unit 🤷‍♂️
  15. Was your's the week of may 20th? If so me neither, recruiter finally got someone to answer and apparently only dental and optometry have been certified so far.
  16. Our stats are pretty similar, my GPA was slightly higher but a lot of folks dont really care about it anyways. It might carry greater weight with the unsponsored board though. Pro-tip, if you still have a cac, look at the reserve vacancy finder in AFPC on the portal. You'll be able to see slots and usually they'll have a POC you can harass. I went this route and was invited to an interview that wasn't publicly posted, so there were only about 5 of us that showed up.
  17. I got picked up as a guard CSO, 2 days after being gained a reserve unit interviewed and offered me a Pilot slot. It's a logistical nightmare but everyone involved has been very understanding. The unofficial advice I got was "if you don't have training dates yet, you can bail"
  18. Good lord thats a long wait until FC1, we requested in January and it got scheduled for May. WP must be slammed EDIT: Just realized Jan to May is longer than May to August....
  19. This cleared up all of my in processing questions, great overview of what to expect.
  20. Follow up question, are guard/reserve not allowed in the first couple FY2020 classes? The 340th said I'd have to wait until the next calendar year for OTS dates if I didn't get in 19-07
  21. 1 caveat on that (as of march 2019) your home unit cuts orders for your FC1, at least that's what the 340th told me last week. EDIT: I was hired before my FC1, I see your timeline is different.
