If you have the Post 9/11 GI Bill you get paid BAH for an E-5 with dependents on top of your school and books getting paid for. I had a buddy who took grad courses online but met once a semester in San Francisco and received >$4k a month. I'm a Reservist now but was Active from 2007-2018.

Once I'm fully snapped in at my new position I'm going to start taking automotive classes across the street from Miramar so I can bank that $2,600/BAH for the Post-9/11 GI Bill!

Don't many put others at risk in some manner or another? It is a question of degrees or risk and willingness to accept it. Driving on a public highway does put others at risk. You can choose to not accept that risk and not participate by not driving on the public highway, but you shouldn't be able to tell me that risk is too high for me to accept.

Dangerous to you and dangerous to me might mean completely different things. Is it dangerous to potentially shorten the lives of .1 to .3% of people who catch covid? Especially when the vast majority of those people are nearing the end of their lives? You may say yes, I would say no. Is it dangerous to fly 3' away from another aircraft? You may say yes, I would say no. 😆

My presupposition would be that 11Fs are more comfortable with assuming higher risk based on their perceived invincibility.

Governors in several states have issued mandates that are not in accordance with the republican form of government guaranteed by our constitution. These Governors are acting as monarchical forms of government which is not in accordance with our norms. Out of curiosity, I'd like to know on this board the number of CAF pilots who are for/against government mandated lockdowns and enforcement of "arbitrary" (my word) rules vice those pilots who are not 11F. Could be an interesting discussion.

It is not their timing, it is illegal government mandates. There is a huge difference.

How did you mentally prepare yourself to become such a badass?

I wish I had a track close by because I'd definitely do more interval training. I like that the Marine Corps balances our tests. In the spring we run the PFT (3 mile run, pullups, situps) and in the fall we do the CFT (880m run in boots, 35lb ammo can presses, and a 2:45-5 min, dependent upon fitness and strength, maneuver under fire dill with sprints, buddy carries, ammo can carries, a grenade toss, and some low crawling). The skinny dudes typically do pretty well on the PFT - Not too many 200lb + dudes running 3 miles in 18:00 to max the test or doing 23 strict pullups, but those little guys tend to struggle in the fall when those 200lb dudes carry those ammo cans and other people like they're nothing. Bottom line, do a combination of dedicated strength based training, crossfit-like workouts, eat healthy and you'll be fine on pretty much anything.

Why should I buy additional risk, however small? I volunteer to buy some risk for some things, but that is and should remain my decision. Agreed. I go out to eat with my wife and daughter about twice a week at local restaurants (outside now, which isn't so bad in San Diego), went on vacation this past weekend with three other families, thrown and attended parties/get-togethers just about every weekend, and my daughter goes to the park about 3-5x a week because its good for her development at such a young age to socialize. Some people just give up their liberties more easily than others I suppose.

You have absolutely no idea what long term effects said vaccine might have - Forcing someone who is incredibly low risk to take something that could even potentially have negative long term effects is garbage. Should my 2 year old who doesn't even have a fully developed immune system yet be forced to take it? Forced vaccine equals liberty? No. And you must be flying some crazy missions in country because I never thought my 9 hour flights over there in an old ass Hornet were any riskier than an average training sortie.

I only worked for Boeing as an F-15C CIP for a couple of years before hopping over to LM and the F-35, but I don't recall any sort of low altitude warning system like we had in the Hornet or the F-35 with visual cues that were displayed in the helmet. It was always just ensuring you had a proper scan of altitude.

So should we cease production of garbage processed foods and forced people to exercise then?
