Some great points on long-shelf-life food that you actually use. Here's one pretty good deal on buckets of the stuff that you can cycle through with daily cooking/eating. I also like to keep about two weeks of drinking water in those 5 gallon water cooler bottles. We drink the stuff anyway and its good peace of mind in case of weather or stupidity.

One major piece missing from this argument is that Cinemark theaters is the only theater chain that maintains a "no gun" policy. Although there are no statutory requirements, other that public buildings (a stretch), Cinemark started that policy years ago and posted signs throughout their buildings to that effect. Any responsible CCW is going to see those signs when purchasing the ticket or going in and drop it back into the car. Since you don't know you're going into a combat zone, the greater risk is carrying into a NO zone. I wonder if the shooter specifically chose Cinemark to increase the likelihood of being able to engage unopposed.

Thanks for clarifying my opinion to me. I probably should have better defined the use of the terms legit and prestige. OSU is one of the few universities that offers an online MBA that is AACSB accredited (details here https://www.aacsb.net). The stricter accreditation standards legitimize and bring prestige to this program in the eyes of potential future employers. No, it is not a top-20 in-residence business program, but at least it follows a baseline standard of behavior and imparts the expected skillset to its graduates. That's far more than you can say for certain other online MBA programs. I personally went through a similar program at a different university and found it far more challenging than the work demonstrated by my peers in "check the box" programs. It all comes down to your goals. If you want to JUST check the box to make Major, get a check the box degree. If you want something marketable, get a "better" degree. If you can somehow swing a top-20 in-residence program within the context of your family responsibilities combined with your personal and career goals, do it. ETA: I just looked up the UNC Online MBA you mentioned. Looks great, but could be a little expensive at $91K

We have a guy doing it right now. OSU's a legit program with the workload and prestige that comes with it. Having done a program like that myself, I don't honestly know if the pain is worth the reward if you only want to check a box.

If you go east of Norris, the area just south of 21st is also very nice. Lots of newer construction.

For those considering moving to Cannon AFB with families, New Mexico has just published the 2011-2012 school performance results for the local public schools. This list was useful to our family in choosing where to live when we moved here. You can get a map at this link (http://www.cms.k12.n...ones2008-09.pdf) of where elementary school boundaries are. The only thing that's somewhat unclear on the map is the eastern division between Zia Elementary and Parkview Elementary. It is Hammond Blvd all the way down. The street goes east-west with the North side and above going to Zia and the South side and below going to Parkview. Lots of military members buy in that area with all the new construction. Yes. Drive is about 4 hours. Some friends of mine drew elk last year and bagged one. I haven't done it personally yet.

I just discovered promotive.com a few months ago myself. You have to create an account with your .mil e-mail, but the military discounts on outdoor stuff and sporting goods are unmatched. They have over 200 brands including Suunto, Leupold, Bushnell, and Benchmade. There's limits on how much you can buy, but folks are maxing out some of the good deals.

I hate to recommend this, but if it has to be on EVERY order, just make me click another OK box when I'm completing the order to certify that it cannot be accomplished via VTC. Just like the box I click that I understand its a true, certified, prosecutable document. It sure beats clicking through three menus and copy-pasting a statement/forgetting half the time.
