  1. I’m just wondering how that happens when American’s qualifications require an Unrestricted ATP? https://aa.pilotcredentials.com/index.php?a=qualifications Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Apologies, it’s on Amazon Prime. It all looks the same on my tablet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Now on Netflix. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I’m curious what ADSC you have to separate early from when you’ve been thinking about PC for 14 years... I’m about to be in the same boat, paperwork will be submitted in the next few weeks. I’m only looking for 3 months off of a PCS ADSC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Jet based? Scorpion? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. He sounds like he was a great guy. https://airforce.togetherweserved.com/usaf/servlet/tws.webapp.WebApp?cmd=ShadowBoxProfile&type=Person&ID=177012 Great movie, I sure wish the Air Force was still that way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Congratulations for making it to 20, I applaud you for that. I was gonna give you crap for talking about service if you left prior to retirement...there goes that idea. I too plan to retire, however from the guard with a little more control over my last 8 years of service. Not that those who choose to leave at the end of their ADSC deserve any less credit, at least they raised their right hand and chose to serve in an all volunteer force when most do not. We’ve discussed ad nauseam on here about how difficult it is to keep people on active duty with feckless leadership, less compelling financial incentives, and difficulties of military life on families. I don’t fault anyone for leaving, and I’m grateful for whatever time they did serve. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Honest question, did you retire or separate prior to 20? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I was just a kid back during Gulf I, but I remember during OIF in 2003 that Saddam was the head of the Iraqi military and thus a legitimate target. I mean, the guy paraded around in military uniform quite a bit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. When someone in my squadron with a STRD one year prior to mine had to 3 day opt a 365, the threat became very real. That’s why I won’t accept any kind of ADSC and will be jumping ship at the first opportunity. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. There’s people wearing it all over my AMC base. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. If that’s the case, run. 300 days in 18 months, no thanks. Edit: Sorry for the thread derail, let’s get back to talking about the non-existent bonus program. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Any chance of a 365 is too much of a chance. As I’ve said before, dudes are tired and asking us to continue the same mindless strategy for another 17 years with no end in sight is why we are leaving. Pointless Air Advisor deployments where you’re only needed at work 3 days per week, the above non-flying SE gigs, then flying deployments with broken airplanes and not much flying. I’d rather be at home watching my kids grow up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I took it to mean it would be the beginnings of replacing C/D models which are mostly flown by the guard. We don’t really need F-22s doing the air sovereignty mission and new airframes would cut maintenance costs which is an argument made in the article. This idea is not coming from Air Force leadership, which makes me like it more.
  15. You state your vulnerability runs from 8 months to 2 months prior to your ADSC. I would say to establish a DOS at 8.5 months out and roll the dice they won’t try to send you and get you back 30 days prior to your DOS. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Is this true with a deployment less than a 365? I understood that until you establish a separation date you can still be tasked with something that would extend past your ADSC. A 365 however, can be 3 day opted. But we (as officers) have an Indefinite separation date until we raise our hand and say we want to quit. Am I totally wrong? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Leave it to the government to give us all a travel card that charges fees for foreign currency conversion. Isn’t the point of a travel card to avoid fees like that? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Hell, the threat of even a crappy 6 month air advisor non-flying deployment is enough to drive me off active duty. The last flying deployment was only marginally more satisfying when the jets were flyable. The sustainment phase of the never ending war gets old after countless trips to the desert. Everyone is burned out and looking for something more satisfying, more rewarding, and with greater control over their own lives. I’m not sure there’s a solution to that. 19. Why we didn’t think the boom operator needed a window to be able to see the receiver is beyond me. So what happens when the video system (after they finally get it working) has some sort of maintenance issue? The tanker becomes a real expensive and complex 767 freighter. Just put the damn boom at the back of the jet like we’ve been doing for 60 years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. MyPers Officer Promotions will have the promotion increments. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Stupid HTML, meant to say are people having success with approvals of less than 6 months? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Where you’ll work a lot more hours to make that pay. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I only had about 1,000 hours before I was yanked to fly droids. The flying came back pretty quick, but it’s the running the mission and dealing with TACC that takes exposure. I’ve been pretty damn busy this past year and I’ve only flown 350 hours. I’d hate to see how little that would be with a queep job that keeps me from flying. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. There are over 8,000 Lt Cols in the active duty, they aren't all DOs and CCs. I'm just trying to illustrate the ridiculous position that guys in my demographic are in, and why we will all be gone within the next year. We get non-vol'd away from our MWS, do well in RPAs, but fight to get back to our airframe. Then we either have to choose to chase a promotion or regain proficiency that we lost being gone for 5 years. I thought the Air Force was in need of pilots, but I know if I stay active duty and choose to not fly a desk then I will not get promoted.
  25. Agree, but do all O-5s need to be SQ/CCs? We’re saying you need the pushes to get promoted, and you need to work a desk job outside of the squadron to get the pushes. What about those that want to focus on flying? My goal if I stayed active for 20 would be to serve as the Chief Pilot for the Sq, does that not deserve O-5? Sorry for the barrage of questions, but it seems like the options for those that don’t desire squadron command are to either sign a ridiculous ADSC for the joke of a fly-only track, or get passed over twice and then accept continuation.
