  1. Has anyone applied for PC recently? Just wondering if they are still being generous with approvals of Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. From what I see (and it was this way in ACC as well), you have to work at an attached or on loan job to be considered worth anything. Squadron superstars are always pushed out to jobs above the squadron level (and in RPAs they are reserved for guys who re-catted). I’m fine with that, but I’m not going to waste what time I have left with that noise, as Viper said. I’m trying to rack up as much time as possible before punching, and a ridiculous desk job doesn’t facilitate that. Because of that, you can bet my last few OPRs on active duty won’t have any sort of DO or CC push. I’ll take my chances getting promoted in the guard/reserve, and hopefully without ACSC by correspondence. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. This is what sucks for those of us who were farmed out to RPAs and why those of us who returned to cockpits will all be leaving. Upon coming back you can either choose to fly your ass off to regain some credibility in your MWS, or you can sit behind the desk and work for that DO/CC push. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Geez, we’re being outsmarted by the Army? No offense Lawman... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I’d opt for Velcro, they’ve changed colors of patches and where we wear them like 6 times already. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Just watched Hostiles on Netflix. Quite good if you like westerns. Kind of a shorter Dances with Wolves. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. From my previous investigation into this, I thought it would be based on the full base pay rate of your last 3 years. The definition below seems to support that, so as Loach said why would they not take his High 3 from when he was on active orders? High-36 Plan The retired pay base for a qualified reserve retirement under the High-36 retirement plan is the total amount of monthly basic pay to which the member was entitled during the member's high-36 months divided by 36. This includes months to which the member would have been entitled if the member had served on active duty during the entire period. Usually this will be the average of the 36 months for the member's pay grade and years of service taken from the pay tables in effect for the 36 months immediately preceding the date that retired pay begins, regardless of when the member stopped participation (i.e. went into the gray area). The High-36 retirement plan uses a multiplier % that is the same as the final pay plan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. So how exactly is the High 3 calculated? It sounds like Loach is saying they chose to not use the time he was active even though it was the highest paying. I thought it was just the average of the full-time base pay rate of your last 3 years of service. Do they actually base retirement pay on what you’re actually paid those last 3 years of guard reserve? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Damn pawnman, if you didn’t get a DP with that record I definitely don’t stand a chance. Being a MAF/RPA/MAF reject, I wonder why my SQ/CC and others are trying to convince dudes like me to stay in. If I did, it would just be a few more years before I’m passed over twice and deciding between continuation or separation. So why not make that decision now, move back to where I can spend time with my extended family, and get on with the rest of my life? Other things I hear are that 06-07 guys are all but guaranteed O-6 if they just stay active duty. Somehow I don’t believe that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Sure didn’t hear about this non-stop on the news: https://www.yahoo.com/amphtml/news/utah-man-indicted-over-mailed-ricin-threats-trump-200526653.html Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. What’s the planned buy of the T-X scheduled to be? It would be better to just go back to generalized UPT and I hope we are able to do that in the future. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. And the guy’s van is covered with Presidential stickers. Huge surprise. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. The Fed really has no choice at this point. We couldn’t stay at interest rates of zero for forever. As for the “pipe bombs” it sure seems real convenient, huh? None exploded, and some were possibly not even capable of detonation. And they’re all sent to people the President has been critical of. I’m not surprised by anything I see these days. 14. This has a lot to do with the hoax mail bomb scare and the Fed insisting they will continue to raise interest rates. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. This MJ is a democrat running in TX. https://www.mjfortexas.com Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I can’t believe they eliminated ADSCs for PIT and cross flow. Whatever we did to make that happen, let’s do the same for a 150k/yr bonus. Then they might get a few people to stay. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Is it worth it to make O-5 in the guard/reserve? An extra couple hundred a month seems like it would be worth a few tests and BS papers. I still haven’t been able to motivate myself to complete the second module. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I’m glad someone mentioned this. There are tunnels in coastal cities all over the US, even with the high water table. Houston has no tunnels, but has underground walkways downtown. The issue would be controlling the flooding from a storm surge, but I’m sure that can be figured out... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Or maybe just do the maintenance somewhere else during hurricane season... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. No one is arguing that these jets take a lot of maintenance or that this is the reality for tactical jets. But saying “this is how it’s always been done, sorry we weren’t able to hurrivac 10% of our nation’s premiere 5th gen aircraft” and going on business as usual can’t continue. Maybe it’s not such a smart thing to have aircraft disassembled in phase checks on the Florida panhandle during hurricane season. When you purchase a fraction of the fleet size needed, you can’t treat these aircraft like every other fighter fleet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. 5 jets? Ok. But 20% of the fleet at Tyndall wasn’t flyable with a week’s notice? I’m just saying this is indicative of not holding people accountable. Not reporting the TX church shooter into NICS after beating his family, gross personnel mismanagement circa 2013-2015, and now a 40% mission capable rate causes the loss of these jets worth >$1 billion in taxpayer dollars. I can’t get out of this organization fast enough. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. You should read 13 Days to Glory by Lon Tinkle. Those guys stayed there fully expecting to be relieved by a larger Texan force. When their situation became clear, they all chose to stay and fight to bleed the Mexican army and give the new government time. It’s one of my favorite stories from the Texas Revolution, right behind San Jacinto and the ass whooping that Sam Houston put on the Mexican army. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. http://www.airforcemag.com/Features/Pages/2018/October%202018/Tyndall-F-22s-Left-Behind-Before-Michael-Hit-Possibly-Damaged-Beyond-Repair.aspx Think anyone will be held responsible for this? It seems the only thing you can be fired for these days is sexual harassment or assault. Something could have been done to move these jets off the base. When we only have 187 of them, they need to be treated as the important national security assets that they are. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. How do you avoid a break in service? Don’t you need your DD-214 to inprocess at your guard unit and I’ve heard that MPF has taken weeks after separation to get them completed and sent to people. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Of course we can critique RPA wings, they are “operators” not pilots. I know because I did it for years. My point was that they are no longer considered Undergraduate aviators if they have pilot wings, so why send them to Phase 3 UPT. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
