On Combat, page 55. I have a signed copy with probably a hundred post-it note bookmarks inside. Accounting for the physiological effects of a high-stress situation such as a home invasion when you're trying to operate a firearm should be considered absolutely essential. Some buddies and I did a firearms training course with a pro competitive shooter a few years ago. One of the drills required us all to sort of rough-up (pushing/shoving/restraining) whomever was about to shoot for 30 seconds or so. Even though everyone knew it was "fake", it still got your adrenaline up and hugely affected your ability to shoot. Trying to hit targets before and after that "stress" was the most memorable part of the training.
  2. I had to open up my FlightRadar account to see if this was true. Rivet Joint orbiting near Sinaloa, Mexico. F yeah.
  3. The hilarity never ends. Just wow. 🤣 https://x.com/clashreport/status/1886489936028696939
  4. I had been cautiously optimistic about what this admin could/would accomplish. I know this is a bad analogy, but for some reason the only one that comes to mind: I was in high school in 1992 when the rules were changed to allow the "Dream Team" play in the Olympics. I couldn't wait to see how they would do. When they were finally on the court, it was just overwhelming domination of every player from every country they competed against. They outmaneuvered their opponents seemingly every play of every game. Amazing to watch. America ended up in first place, over 100 points in every game, average 50 point spread. This may or may not continue, but it's pretty awesome right now.

According to this article, It appears there was a Capt, a CWO, and a SSgt on board. Honest question: Is it common in the Army for a Chief Warrant Officer to be the Instructor/Evaluator and have the A-code with a Captain in the seat?
  6. "The Best Money We Ever Spent" Always was a scam. I will never be convinced otherwise.

  10. White House Press Briefing today: All of the drones were either permitted by the FAA for research purposes and other reasons or were hobbyists. They were not an enemy.

  12. So the CEO of Neurovigil has bad things to say about the CEO of his longtime chief competitor, Neuralink. Duly Noted, and Disregarded.
  13. I'd say the probability of our new SECDEF making decisions that in the best interests of America and our young people serving in the military is higher than the historical average.
  14. 4:03: What a moron. Poor guy is luck he didn't dei.
  15. I don't think any of them have closely held personal beliefs. It's akin to the flawed promotion mechanism we've all complained about in which "Yes" men will say or do anything they believe will advance their career. "My boss's values are my values." These same people would have advocated for segregation if it they thought it would please those who have the power to decide their future.
  16. The hits keep on comin'. 😁
  17. Do you suppose it could be a previous member who recently announced they were leaving the forum in a hissyfit over a post about Elon Musk, had a history of posts criticizing Musk, and accusing the right of being Nazis? Hmmm.... Let's see: https://www.flyingsquadron.com/forums/search/?&q=Musk&quick=1&author=Negatory&search_and_or=or&sortby=relevancy https://www.flyingsquadron.com/forums/search/?&q=Nazi&quick=1&author=Negatory&search_and_or=or&sortby=relevancy I guess It could be just coincidence, and not someone who created an alt account and went straight to a political thread and picked up where they left off. yeahright. @Negatory My question for you still stands:
  18. LOL that didn’t last long.

  20. My childhood friend and next door neighbor to this day is out on medical retirement at 41 from the city PD after getting shot during a domestic call last year. He's 90% recovered. My son in law is a bit of a fast burner in another department. We often get together for beers and BBQ and in conversation, it becomes apparent the job changes them. They both started out with high ideals about our community, the nobility of the job, their duty to protect everyone, etc. The stories they tell make my job as an airline capt seem like the most dull job in the world. They see things I would consider horrific more days than not. As a result, it seems that over time they lose trust in broader society and become more intensely protective over the people they care about. I would trust both of these dudes with my life. The percentage of people I encounter on a daily basis that have just stabbed their girlfriend is pretty low, while the percentage of people they encounter who have just sexually abused a family member or broke into a house high on meth is pretty high. We make generalizations about the rest of society given the data we have. A local cop was shot a week or so ago. Every law enforcement officer within an 80 mile radius was on a personal mission to find the perp. They found him a couple days later, had a standoff in the backyard, and several officers mag-dumped on him. I was at a party last weekend with some cops and they were enthusiastically sharing pictures of the scene and the bad guy. It was unspoken, but obvious that everyone knew there was only one type of justice this guy was going to get. I was kind of unsettled by the idea that maybe none of the local law enforcement had any intent to take the guy alive while I was simultaneously glad that he wasn't. I had often thought I'd be a good cop when watching these bad cop vids. After hearing the stories, I don't know that I could keep myself from treating a large swath of the society with suspicion, disdain, and contempt. We could always strive for improvement, but I'll never be convinced that you can expect human beings to do this job and not have any of them develop sociopathic tendencies towards parts of our population.
  21. The WG/CC promises all the Navs that he's going to get age waivers and pilot training dates for all who want to go. When the last H model leaves, the WG/CC says "Sorry, couldn't get any pilot training, but we got some cool staff jobs for ya."
  22. It’s a girl!
