  1. Even if what they say comes true, are those "improvements" enough to change the calculus? Wouldn't be for this guy.
  2. If BODN anecdotes are any indication, that problem will fix itself as pilots maneuver to avoid requal ADSCs and therefore the FTU, and instead complete their centerline thrust restriction removal and MEIs.
  3. I misread "hoveround" as "hoverboard," and my first thought was, "No way, he'll break his hip on one of those things!"
  4. Oh, I like this gem: Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base has also been ordered to develop a Squadron Commander Foundational Course to prepare officers, as well as civilians in similar roles, for squadron command. Wing commanders will identify field grade officers with high potential for command to attend this course, which will teach them “foundational tools and skills required to thrive in command.” So choose your CCs as ROTC cadets, then groom them via Sq Exec as Lt > SOS DG > Wing Exec > SCFC > ACSC res > CC. Done.
  5. You were SOS DG weren't you?
  6. No. The AF flying class 1 is harder than the FAA class 1. I think navs need a class 2. If you're applying to Guard/Reserve, you're going to need a FAA Class 3 to get your PPL, and a Class 1 might be helpful for the hiring board, but that'll vary by unit.
  7. Definitely scented and pink. I prefer coconut scent.
  8. I'll probably finish July at about $7K. Not what you thought someone would post, huh? 😉 I'm spending the month enjoying my daughter's birthday, my anniversary, and lots of days with the kids at the pool. I'll fly a few days to cover expenses. It's good to have choices.
  9. They use a third party to recommend course transfer credit. https://www2.acenet.edu/militaryguide/CourseSearch.cfm I don't see the current SOS on their list, so you'll have to ask the registrar for their current policy. Until 2012, they recommended "In the graduate degree category, 3 semester hours in leadership/managerial human relations."
  10. I only had actual contract lodging once in my 15 years. They put "contract lodging" on a form several times, which makes things fun if your AO isn't smart enough to know the difference, but if it goes on your GTC, it ain't contract lodging.

Probably not much thinking going on between them ears in the first place, much less room to REthink something.
  12. Largely a distinction without a difference.
  13. Sounds like I stroll in around 9, take a 2 hour lunch, and head to the gym around 2:30.

  15. Holy shit guys. I know CSOs don't go to UPT. Did you read the post above mine? Apparently AFPC doesn't know the difference.
  16. Apparently my sarcasm wasn't clear. I'll be more obvious. FSS Airman Snuffy to a CSO trying to separate: "This memo says CSOs have UPT commitments; Table 1.69 says UPT commitment is 10 years; therefore, you have to stay in." You know it'll happen in an FSS in a galaxy not far away.
  17. Yep. But our tax is progressive, so not every dollar is taxed at the higher rate.
  18. Several guys showed up at graduation with insta-families.
  19. Oh, someone is getting bomb-ass cash from the GTC stranglehold, just not you or me.

They're at Delta with everyone else.

  22. Man if I was convinced Tricare would be totally gone in 20 years when it's my turn to use it, I'd have 1 job tomorrow! The pension is not why I'm still occasionally wearing the uniform.
  23. Really? That went away with nose art, squadron bars, and O clubs. We're way past heritage into the realm of corporate blob.
  24. Do y'all really think if they want (not need) a C-17 EP Safety guy for a 365, and all of the eligibles have deployed for 46 days in the last 5 years, they're going to tell COCOM, "Sorry, Boss, you're going to have to learn to live without."? You're not out of any WEZ! This may postpone your 365 for a cycle, but it by no means changes anything. They just call it "short notice" and they can use "current timelines and processes."
